Great video Chris, I was up at Glen Etive with the wife yesterday for a drive and to check out the Skyfall film site! Took a handful of pictures, but think I was at the bit either before or even after the actual one in the film! As she said to me, “there should be a sign!” 😂

I was in Edinburgh 2 years and did some of the North coast 500,we drove over from Edinburgh to Glencoe and drove the Skyfall road ,my god what an unbelievable road and the scenery is just to die for .heaven is a place on earth after all .I will be heading back to Glencoe in late December in My new volkswagan t6.1 transporter camper van. What weather conditions should I expect to see ,I'm sure it's going to be wet cold and quiet possibly snowing. Is it wise to attempt the Skyfall road again in these conditions or should I just stay to the main roads during the winter months and make plans to return during the warmer months 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💙

Hi Shane, We’ll travel around Scotland, and grata to hear your coming back as well. The road isn’t too bad as there are people that live down it. But in saying that it’s not a priority road and will not necessarily be ploughed or gritted. Make a judgement call between the turnoff and where the Skyfall point is and take it from there. If there is snow, and no clear indication as to where the road is, then I would probably turn back. Other than that, just take care and no hand break turns or Scandi flicks and you should be fine. Oh in saying that, keep an eye in the weather as it changes. It’s a long drive from the Loch back to the main road and with snow falling you could easily loose site of the road.

Superb edit, loved it. What's the area like for drone footage? I'm guessing it depends a lot on what the Scottish weather gods throw at you. Would love to make my own video up here one day! Keep it up mate.

Absolutely down to the weather, been there and you can see the glen being hit with sun at one end and rain on the other, but there are some amazing spots for drone footage, although the RAF use it for exercises at times and some (most) of the land is owned by National Trust for Scotland and they do no allow flights to take place from their land, with a bit of research you can find takeoff spots that are safe.

When I was still working as a contract engineer, wherever my contract was located I used this as a "busmans holiday" to explore the area and its history around that central point. I have consequently worked in most places of Great Britain and took such advantage during the intervening weekends of a three week stint, one of my favorites being Norfolk. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to work on a contract up at Seascale in the Lake District. At the weekend I was well placed to go out and explore being based at a digs in Gosforth. So many people rave about the Lake District and how beautiful, stunning and rugged it is but I just don't get it. Yes, some nice scenery and the lakes themselves are beautiful but after that......... nothing of real significance or personal interest, apart from the cost (its just so expensive to stay there, or to eat out) and the roads are just bloody awful, many of which are only a cars width and have deep drainage ditches either side. This scenery you have shown in your video is just gorgeous. So much better than Wales because it is not given that grey dismal look by the so often occurring slate hills but instead forming an all shades of green natural tapestry. The long straight(ish) roads that have been carved through the valleys, the rivers and waterfalls, along with the high peaks that just seem to rise up out of a flat surrounding landscape, topped off with the gorse and heather of the highlands. It certainly looks like a place to visit, and soak up the traditional friendliness of its people, get some photographs and discover the local area history myths and legends. Definitely one for the notebook once we get rid of this pandemic and re-establish some level of normality again. Good luck with your business.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a comment, glad you got enjoyment from the video so much so that you want to now take the time to explore the highlands. Totally agree with you about the Lake District, stunning yes, but the highlands can be jaw dropping at times. I hope you get the chance to explore it for yourself soon. Thank you again, Chris

The Lake District and the Scottish Highlands are very different, but equally beautiful in their own way. Even within the Scottish Highlands and Islands there is so much variety and those who stop after seeing Glencoe and Ben Nevis miss out on some of the most beautiful parts of Scotland which lie to the north and west of there. And this doesn't even include The Cairngorms out to the East. The Lakes have a completely different feel to them. Not as wild, but could perhaps be described as prettier, calmer, and less intimidating which is why so many poets and writers were attracted to the area. Somewhere like Grasmere for example is so picture perfect that it actually looks fake. Many call it heaven on earth. Scotland has areas which feel a bit like this, Plockton for example. Mid Wales also have that vibe whereas Snowdonia is more like Scotland, only on a much smaller scale. I remember my first few visits to Cornwall and wondering what all the fuss was about. Inland it's nothing special at all, but for pretty little fishing villages and beaches it's magnificent. I guess it all depends what floats your boat!

Without knowing where Skyfall was made I roughly pictured it as being much further north as you're about to descend down into the Kyle of Tongue due to the similar barren landscape. Years ago I did drive the long no thru road all the way to loch Etive, but long before Skyfall. Two questions: Do you know where the location is of the Skyfall house itself assuming it's not the same one, and if possible please could you tell me what the music is on your video? Thanks.

Camera was a Fujifilm X-T2 a properly underrated film camera. Not a single bit fo drone footage on this video thought, it was all camera trickery with the X-T2. I do have one though, I use a DJI Mavic Mini for all the other drone stuff you see. Might do a "Whats in my bag" video as I've been asked by a fair few people. Glad you like the Video.
