I like how this contrasts with the usual use of the phrase “a wolf in sheep’s clothing.” Normally, the wolf would be cast as a deceiver or manipulator, and in a sense it still *is* ; but it’s sympathetic, the purpose of the deceit is to garner care and affection from those who would normally see the wolf as a threat, to build a genuine connection without challenging their morals or fears, without scaring them away. The wolf loathes it’s real form because it holds it back from the connection it desires, it loathes itself for deceiving the sheep, for lying to the people it postures itself as friends of, and it loathes the deceit itself because when the sheep point, they don’t point to it’s face, they don’t look into it’s eyes, they look into the eyes of a lie. And thankfully in the end, no such deceit is necessary once rapport is established, the wolf has found people who genuinely love it for who it is, and it is safe the shed the sheep’s skin, even if it’s frightening.

Хм.. Мне показалось, что автор пытался донести до нас мысль: - не старайтесь прикидываться тем, кем вы не являетесь(как волк в шкуре овцы). Он чувствовал себя некомфортно из-за того, что отличался от остальных. Но, в конце концов, он сбросил шкуру и ему стало легче. И остальные приняли его настоящего. Автор, очень красивая анимация, а эти звуки.. Аж мурашки)) Браво!

На самом деле история о прощении. Этот волчара загрыз их родича и ради кайфа напялил его шкуру на себя. При этом жуткая сцена говорит нам о том, что у фури-волка паранойя и он боится ответственности за свои поступки. Но афроовечка простила его и теперь маньяк разгуливает среди нас. Учитесь прощать, пацаны👍🥰

Something about this gives me the vibes of how paranoia and anxiety tends to make life seem far scarier than it truly is, even for those with differences. I somewhat wonder if the sheep knew he was a wolf the whole time, or if they truly didn't care and just still loved him anyway after he revealed it. It's vague enough to be taken many ways, and I like that.

What a beautiful take on the idea of wolf in sheep clothing! I thought surely this was going to be a horror short, and although the buildup and suspense is there, I'm happy and pleasantly surprised that it wasn't! I consider the coarse, almost horror-esque imagery and atmosphere to be a love letter, an ode to portraying and adding depth to how such anxiety can truly feel. Cold, desolate, foreboding and unwelcome, all of which are wonderfully portrayed here! I also adore that there's no "good" or "bad" in this, unlike how it initially seems, and that the only conflict is an internal one. It makes me feel seen, as sometimes there is no good or bad; only what's in your head. I love the representation of a tortured individual, likely suffering an imposter syndrome of some kind, desiring to be something they are not, or otherwise feeling like they are doing so and are aware of it. The anxiety that comes from pretending and otherwise trying to fit in at your own expense is a real one, and very distressing. The shadowy sheep pointing out what the wolf is not, instead of driving the wolf further into the throes of conflict, actually looks to serve as an epiphany for the wolf, unlike what would initially be expected. I'm glad this story ended quite happily here and love the atmosphere! :)

This is a gorgeous piece and I was fascinated by it from the first few seconds. It toys with how we think of a wolf in sheep's clothing and gives new life to it. Absolutely blown away.

I personally interpreted this with the possible struggles of adoption, being different looking to your adoptive family (though this reflection could work for many scenarios.) The Wolf had to change their own appearance, mannerisms and desires to try and match the others. To blend and fit in, which may of caused anxiety and some desire to be different taking a more physical manifestation. This could of mutated more and caused them to resent the idea of trying to join in any activities, as the facade no longer helped them cope with their problems, stewing in their own head as it gets more out of hand until the end of the video when they finally couldn't pretend anymore, stripping the fake coat and revealing the real them. No matter what consequences they might of been expecting. Their family of course loved them all the same, accepting the change they want to make and never turning them away. Showing that they never had to hide themselves again.

As someone who deals with intrusive thoughts on the daily, this really hits hard.

I have a lot of mental issues. And I felt like the wolf is a great interpretation of someone who has social anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD, and PTSD. And all those things going on at once is what it looked like when the wolf trapped himself in his room and wasnt accepted. But when he finally stopped masking himself, as someone stops hiding their feelings and tells people what they're dealing wirh, he felt relieved and was accepted. I love this animation so much. The creater did an amazing job ❤️

ОФИГЕТЬ Очень крутая анимация, какая-то дикая смесь советских мультиков с арт-хаусным хоррором, но с таким добрым мотивом. Есть пару ляпов со звуком, но в целом получилось шикарно! Браво!

Представляю каких трудов стоила эта анимация, но она того стоила, очень круто получилось

As an autistic person who has ADHD, I interpret this animation as being symbolic of the experience of having undiagnosed autism. The wolf's sheep cloak is representative of masking, the first scene is representative of frustration about social issues, the second scene is representative of sensory overload, and the final scene is representative of finding someone who you feel comfortable unmasking to. I'm not entirely sure what the third scene scene represents. By the way, amazing animation! It unnerves me in the best way possible!

If I had to venture a guess, that third scene wasn’t other kids picking on them, it was their own inner demons. Their idea of what the other kids must think of them. When that one kid points to their cloak, it’s making them think about it, why do they need it? What is it for? Are you a wolf or a sheep? You can’t ride the line forever. At some point you need to accept yourself. You know, that sort of thing

Знаете, всё эти звуки, смех детей, как скрипит окно, сама атмосфера и рисовка...Напоминает детские мультики ещё во времена Советского Союза.

This is so simple but complex, I was honestly preparing myself for a jumpscare.

многие сказали, что эта анимация интерпритирует замкнутость в себе, но я почему-то понял это по своему: Волку действительно было стыдно от того, что он не такой как все, но тут вроде есть большая история к этому.. чью шкуру он носит? скорее всего, в порыве отчаяния, когда он пытался быть похожим на всех других, он убил ни одну парочку овец(почти под конец нам показывают большое скопление существ(так же кадр с картиной или фотографией) в комнате волка, скорее всего, его "жертвы"), чтобы найти идеальный "облик" для себя. Под конец его мучает совесть, и только после того, как он перестал прятаться за чужой шкурой, вздохнул и почувствовал свободу, тогда мы видим черную овцу(ту, которую скорее всего и носил волк все это время), которая прощает его за все его поступки. Незнаю как вы, но по-моему волк в конце концов умер(ХАХААХ ПРОСТИТЕ) пишу ночью сори если тут мазня мозги не могут мысли в слова сочитать

Фотография на 1:06 является чем-то типо семейного фото, потому что там есть и сам волк, который прячется за всеми. Это станет понятно, если отмотать на пару секунд назад и посчитать овец за столом.

Полностью присоединяюсь к твоей теории, я подумала точно так же. Для меня тоже самым жирным намеком на нашу с тобой правоту стал тот факт, что волк носил черную шкуру, а потом, в конце, ему подала "руку" именно черная овца. Это стало заметно мне сразу, даже не заходя в комментарии. И то, КАК именно черненькая отнеслась к волку, даже на слезу пробило. Она простила его... Апдейт: пересмотрела еще раз. Указанием к ужасному проступку (скорее всего и не одному) волка так же является то, как его закошмарил детский смех. До такой степени, что мерещился даже в скрипах окна. Волк убегал от себя, убегал от содеянного, от прошлого. Тоже склоняюсь к тому, что в самом конце, когда сбросил шкуру - он умер.

I like that its white wolf and black sheep, the most positive a wolf symbolism can get, and the most negative sheep symbolism can get.

I like how the wolf also wore a black sheep's pelt, because they felt like "the black sheep" of the group. An excellent little detail. 👌

I had quite severe harm ocd as a teen and didn't expect to be emotionally destroyed by a random animation KZread recommended me at 1am but here we are. The best representation of that emotional experience I've ever seen even if that wasn't intentional.

Это... Шикарно... Словами не передать... В большенстве мультфильмах диснея, не смогли донести то, что вклали в эти 3 минуты. Всем кто работал над этим, огромное уважение.

UGH i love how CREEPY it is through the use of like the really choppy animation techniques, where some of the follow through movements take longer/happen faster, THE CONSTANT STATIC REALLY KEPT ME ON HIGH ALERT, the FACES agh nothing was even scary intentionally but it really scared me! this was great!!!!!!!!

Классно и лаконично. И мораль есть и эта мораль с историей уложена лаконично и кратко. Идеально. Только я до конца думал, что волк - это женщина. Но может так и надо.

Стиль анимации просто прекрасен, слов не хватает на описание. Похоже на разлетевшиеся наброски, которые на потоках ветра складываются в ряд А звуковое сопровождение и того лучше. Немного режут глаза повторяющиеся звуки, но в остальном тоже прекрасно. Очень хорошо передано ощущение тревожности.

This animation resonates a lot with me. It’s a perfect metaphor for being autistic. The wolf, like me, likely faced a lot of backlash for being abnormal and “scary” so it was forced to try to mask not only it’s appearance but it’s canine tendencies in favor of sheepish ones. When it finally unmasks, surrounded by loving and understanding people, it finds that it can begin to live as itself. I might’ve been over analyzing it but oh well😊

I absolutely love the quality and sound design in this animation! I think the premise is being a wolf in sheep's clothing? And by shedding what you try to be and being yourself won't end up with you being outcast? Whatever the meaning may be, I adore your animation style and this was really nice to watch!

Возможно, я просто не совсем правильно поняла этот момент, но история в моих глазах заиграла более грустными красками: дабы притвориться кем-то, кем мы не являемся, мы зачастую жертвуем не только собой настоящими, но и благополучием близких. Независимо от интерпретации, очень красивая анимация! Цвета, стиль, атмосфера, движения выполнены чудесно для первой работы. Очень рада, что наткнулась на ролик. Удачи!

Тут скорее страх непринятия своими "родственниками". Мало кто обратил внимание на семейное фото, где Волк уже имеет шкуру и никто как-то не пугается его.

The eerieness of the laughing sheep, very open and kind in their movements, but with animal eyes, as opposed to the soft character, with humanised eyes, of the wolf, but still aggresive in nature as shown by the scratching in the beggining, is just muah chefs kiss. I love this so much!!

The vibe is really scary and anxiety inducing, and I think that it is a good choice. The wolf hides himself from his friends to build a real connection with them. That state makes him visceraly lonely and separated, his fear of being trully knowm and rejected is well protrayed by the tensions and sharp noises. Great job, one of my favourite video on the Internet

This has a good ending but for some reason the entire thing brings me unease and fear and I don’t know why, maybe it has to do with the audio or something with the art, but it’s unsettling despite being wholesome at the end 😭😭

This animation resonated with me more than i expected it. Only just the title "The Skin" with the crudely drawn proportions of the wolf in the thumbnail remind me of the disconnect i feel between who i am and how people see me. The feeling of wishing to open up but having people only see you for your skin that you so deeply hate
