How have I never heard of this, this cast is outstanding.

I'm a fan of like everyone in this show. I cant believe I've never heard of it before

I watched this on here 3 year's ago. 🤣 Still think it's funny.

I remember hearing on a podcast with Kaitlin Olson and Mary Lynn Rajskub that they were writing their own sketches, but Fox told them to copy the UK sketches directly which lead to everything being lost in translation. It sounded like a miserable experience for the cast since they filmed most of the outdoors scenes in the cold and rain. With funny and creative comedians like Kaitlin, Mary Lynn, and Paul F. Tomkins on the cast it would've been good if they were allowed to do their own thing.

I sought this out just to confirm that, yes, a mild send up of The Mamas and the Papas California Dreaming, nearly 40 years after the song's release, was something they put on TV.

When UK shows are adapted by the US frequently they fail really quickly and the actors in the original series are offered absurd amounts of money to participate. This is what happened with the US "version" of Red Dwarf. So Lee Mack was probably expecting to film a pilot that sucked, then go home with a full wallet. That's my guess anyway.

At least they just reused the skits with only him in, so that saved him some work. It also must have boosted his profile in the US and of course extra income is always good.

I remember watching several of them including a car door taken off because the bride's cloth got stuck and "everything in this school is free" so the students storm the canteen.

holy shit. DEE AND GAIL THE SNAIL FROM SUNNY?! i searched for this to see paul f tompkins. i had no idea they were in this too. crazy.

To be fair, the phobias sketch here is much better the version in the British show. They were allowed to change the setting and some of the dialogue, and it flows far more naturally.

Credit where credit is due, though. Dee is a great fit for some of Karen's roles, specifically the one where shes like "i hear what youre saying, and it sounds to me like this...". (Im calling her Dee cause i only know her from Always sunny lol)

Yes, a lot of sketches are copied from the UK version, but Kaitlin Olson is 🔥🔥🔥🔥!

10:15 that sketch was better with Ronni. You can see that there's no chemistry between Lee and Malcolm.

The cast in this are genuinely exceptional and so talented. It’s a massive shame this wasn’t just allowed to be its own thing and there was so much studio meddling resulting in a show that didn’t realise the casts potential.

As most of these sketches from the UK version have Tim Vine's style of comedy written all over them, it's odd only Lee Mack is in this US version.

I remember when this was on in the US. No idea this was a copy of the UK. Also good cast then, even more famous now. (Other than Kelsey who was headlining it.)

This is so weird, who thought this was a good idea? Even the actors wanted to rewrite it for an American audience----soooo bizarre. But I will always love Mr. Peanutbutter.

I don't know why they did this, it all the same skectches from the original uk version but with differnt actors. they could have broadcasted those and saved themselves a lot of money.

Ah, this is the show Lee Mack said just didn't work. You can see much of it is down to the chemistry between the cast being completely missing.

The bBritish bloke is so good! Doesn't skip a bit in his acting.

I don't hate it, and I don't love it. This was in my recommended from watching Mr. Show. I seen that some of the cast is from that. Only good for killing time while I do work at home.

They do the same thing for Australian t.v. sometimes too (ie: Are You Being Served, etc.). Why? Because the British aren't speaking English (or some other, similar corporate/donald trump type reason)?

What was the point of this? Why couldn't the Americans just air the UK version?

Why on earth does the US have to remake British sitcoms? We accept their sitcoms no problem and they're popular over here! The only successful one has been The Office, the others like this are pale copys. The cheesy music is appalling.

Why treat Americans as idiots!? These sketches have already been recorded and broadcast with a British cast. (Which includes the much nicer-looking Karen Taylor). This is just stupid.

Remember when "adapting a UK format to US" meant "making it shit"? Well, at least they didn't do that here.
