The Sins of Prince Saradine by G. K. Chesterton from 'The Innocence of Father Brown'

Ойын-сауық

Another atmospheric tale from The Innocence of Father Brown. This one finds Flambeau and Father Brown on the Norfolk Broads, in a boat, encountering Sicilians, both noble and not so much as you'd notice. Afterwards they enjoy a cigar in a companionable way.
It is read by Greg Wagland for this channel, Sherlock Holmes Stories Magpie Audio. And on this channel you will also find the complete canon of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle, including all 56 adventures and the 4 novels including The Hound of the Baskervilles.
Cheers!
Greg

Thank you so much, sir, for reading Father Brown. I had not read Father Brown stories at all and my habit is always to read the story first and then listen to your narrations. So now I have started enjoying Father Brown stories by Mr. Chesterton! Wonderful narrations as usual. 🙏

Oh, Magpie Audio, your vocalization & tone just calms my mind the moment you begin. I am so grateful that you have been able to return to your original & completely SUCCESSFUL as is style. Those, who’ve listened to your channel for awhile, those who came for Sir A.C. Doyle, will surely also agree. It was SHAMEFUL how you were treated, & I’m grateful you courageously, & with commitment continued to “find the way to navigate forward”. Your contribution is like no other! Thank you, dearly. I enjoy the fact that Chesterton did his homework. Fairies were called "the fair folk" because it was dangerous to anger them and they had terrible tempers and could do humans much harm. Modern interpretations of fairies being all nice and floofy stems from this practice, but is mistaken in that we now *believe* fairies to have been nice beings, whereas in the past (in folklore) we simply *pretended* that fairies were nice beings so that we wouldn't incur their wrath. This is how fairies were perceived in Irish folklore, but in American culture, we simply adopted a corrupted version of the tradition, which seems wrong to me.

It is a shame that the true villain of this story, the woman who cheated on her husband and abandoned her son, didn’t find a sword in her heart or her neck in the hangman’s noose. ACD forever presents female characters who suffer no consequences for their evil and male characters suffer as cuckolds and simps. Masterful reading of the work though and much appreciated.
