Former horse girl: that gate you aren't sure what it goes with, is pretty typical for a paddock. A lot of paddocks have a normal wood enclosure, but then have a metal gate. It's pretty typical. Doesn't look like right all the time but normal lol. The barn I was at most of my life had gates like that.

I really like the wood swatches but it’s a shame about the kitchen counters not having a “clean swatch” and I’m surprised there was no horse decor (eg a hanging bridle or saddle) for tack rooms

it’s honestly kind of ridiculous that out of everything, it’s the kitchen counters that they missed out on providing many options/swatches when many simmers have been asking for more kitchen counters and stuff

We've waited too long for a kitchen for it not to be versatile... Everybody bug them to add clean swatches 😅

That steel gate is one we use in our pastures with a wood fence because it’s cheaper and usually closed with a chain you can just open and close easily with one hand while leading horses.

I was gonna say, that gate looked a lot like the ones my grandma had on her barbed wire fences separating pasture from her actual farm. She also had huge wooden gates that were twice my size as a kid. I would have loved to see something like that

The fence I see that kinda gate on most often is one wooden board along the top and square wire underneath, but yeah its a classic farm gate.

My childhood bedroom has clouds on the walls and ceiling! So I’m stoked for that new ceiling tile!

@@pocahontasseguinart7099 I bought my first house almost 2 years ago and one of the first things I did was paint my bedroom and office. (A light aqua in the bedroom and pastel yellow in my office!) I still haven’t finished everything that needs to be painted but my fiancé and I just painted the bathroom a bright turquoise and the hallway to the basement a light gray.

The items do look great. Surprised we didn't get a saloon door for the saloon themed bars though.

The rustic to modern shift in these items is making me so excited for the rags to riches series!

I’m not sure I’ve ever loved something as much as James loves old/dirty/worn out swatches in the sims 4.

Fun fact: many of those beautiful patterns on rugs, bedspreads, cushions, the table runner, etc. are characteristic Native American patterns. They and some other items from other packs (like the rug from StrangerVille) are based on textile and weaving patterns from four corners tribes, like the Navajo. I highly suggest Googling Navajo rugs for some beautiful real-life examples!

I'm living for James scolding his nametag : "James Turner, get out of the way!" Amazing content, as always.

The gate that doesn't match a fence is a farm gate / livestock gate. They are made for livestock to go through, and often don't match the fence. We had red ones on the pasture of my childhood home, and the fence around them was a wire fence.

Seeing James so excited is reminding me how he was when doing the Cottage Living pack and I’m so excited for this let’s play!

Thanks for the great video! Wish the Sims Team would put all matching swatches on everything in this pack! So annoyed about the kitchen and columns not having a clean swatch. 🙄

30:17 That wall Decor is a Barn Quilt, and they usually go outside of the barn. Its made to look like a quilt, some have meaning in the pattern and sometimes its just to look pretty. But they are typically seen above the main doors leading into a barn, or most commonly today, the side of the barn facing the road. Some of the patterns seem to be indigenous inspired, but barn quilts themselves are not an indigenous tradition.

Came here to comment this! My understanding of them is that they were often done with leftover paint. When I first saw them (in real life) I also thought they were indigenous inspired and I've had a really hard time learning more about what the designs mean.

Thanks for the video! A lot of people use the mini saucer lights underneath other lights to extra lighting. Also, the "bars" on the jumps are called poles ;)

The wood with the white plaster looking stuff in the middle is an older style of log cabin. There are some houses near me like that, from like the 1700s.

it would be really fun if lady had her whole barn/ranch pink, like her childhood room! horses and pink = every horsegirl dream

the stackable plates and storage rack remind me of plumbella reviewing that book kit (i think that was the one), where she stacked books super high xD

The wooden quilted item 30:31 is perfect for a barn quilt! we have one on our barn. It's something in the US (maybe elsewhere too?). The patterns often represented the land or family.

I think the lone metal gate would pair nicely with the cottage living stone walls or just a base game hedge as you often see those sort of gates with those sort of fencing combinations in the UK countryside at least :)

I think that for the next Let’s Play with Lady her horse should have de giant ball with the basketball swatch in honor of the iconic basketball hoop back at her family place

the floral archway is SO CUTE

There's a lot of stuff in this pack that I don't super vibe with just because I'm not a western rider so a lot of American horse stuff just feels like just slightly "wrong" to me, as an English rider (just because it's almost familiar but not, I am happy this exists for people who love western riding or like cowboy shenanigans). But I do absolutely adore the beach ball, I can confirm that real horses will play with big beach balls and excercise balls and it is very funny.

I think the metal looking gate is definitely supposed to go with the farm fencing. It’s very much the type of gate you’ll find on farm paddocks. I’ve climbed over many in my time.

The no “clean” kitchen swatch kills meeee. They were soooo closeeee 😮‍💨🫠

Hey, Aussie farmer here LOVE the different gate, hoped they'd add a wire fence in with it but doesn't seem like they did. But definitely looks like a real Aussie farm gate!

This build and buy is SOO stunning!! Love me some rustic wood furniture and architecture, and that metal fireplace especially is literally to die for!!

Lifeplay idea, you probably already had: for the Box, that gets handed down to the next Generation, you can put Ladys first good bottle of nectar in it and that gain in worth from Generation to Generation.

You're spot on about the newer looking counters with wood tops. That would've looked great. Much more versatile than the ones they're giving us 😕

I was immediately delighted by the quality of the new wood wall swatches as compared to the original base game swatches. The flooring as well (though we also just got a huge base game swatch update). And though I probably won't be painting ceilings too often, I could definitely see myself using the cloud ceiling.

So glad to see that first 'brick' texture. That's so common in the barns near me (MA, USA) since they are a little bouncy gym-like texture. Perfect for hooves.

1:01 I absolutely LOVE the wood paneling

I hate to say it, but I love most of the rustic furniture. (The kitchen is so neat) Not enough to justify it as an Expansion Pack. Seems like another Island Living, where you just get the pack for the world and B&B. Im basically only excited for the nectar making as gameplay.

That weird metal gate would work with the hedge fences, especially in Henford as they remind me of some UK farm gates. That said, around here in country Victoria I associate those with Electric fencing which I doubt the sims would ever add😅

Wood with a bunch of tiny details makes me think of Sims 3. I'll be happily editing both my ts3 and ts4 ranches this week. :)

I’m hoping to see some of these new floors and wall paints in the burger boys

love the Basement dungeon builder shoutout, thank you for that. I will in fact be adding the night one to a completely unrelated build lol. I built a rambling three story penthouse in the shape of a constellation i think that celling would be very fun for!

I love all the build mode items so far although seeing the iron/metal decor for the ranch signs makes me sad that we didn't get a career for that or an activity table to make them (like the woodwork bench) :/

Just wanted to say that most gates I've seen for horses are the metal ones that seems out of place in the pack. It can a very light material irl and is pretty standard compared to using a wood gate, since it would be a lot heavier and also much more expensive. I wish we had the same height fence as the wooden one but with vinyl or maybe electric braid or tape. There's probably something you can use to give it a similar look though.

I really like the aesthetic of this pack, but I’m just not into horses at all. Still debating whether I’ll buy this, but I can’t wait for the Rags to Ranches let’s play!!

I love the dining chairs, barstools and some of the other wood furniture. It reminds me of my childhood home furniture in 80s Ohio.

The wall hanging that looks like a quilt square goes on the outside of the barn. It is not Native, it's a tradition that comes from the Dutch if I remember correctly and is done in the u.s. too.

Can I please suggest for this pack not to speedrun the nectar making and Horse ranching all at once maybe you can have it like Lady's Kid moves from the ranch and makes a nectar farm and the series runs side by side

Nectar making for me was always synonymous with the world adventures and the French influence from that pack, and ranching doesn't fit that same aesthetic so maybe splitting the pack up in that way same family maybe a kid or something but they maybe move to Tartosa since we never did get a lets play in that world and then pursues a career in nectar making.

I'm in love with the base game update🥰 so happy for the ceiling paint, new swatches for floors and wallpapers, that's the best. I'm liking all the new build/buy items with this pack. Thank you for reviewing ☺

the heavy sigh i let out when i started the video and saw the shirt, hat and "howdy." we are really in for it with this one!

I am definitely picturing wine and Nectar cellars being made with this new pack and yes separate table runner's would be nice for dining table options

I just had a thought and hope this will be implemented with cross pack compatibility especially with the Veternarien from Cats & Dogs. When your horse gets sick you call a vet like you do in the real world with big farm and ranch animals, Also be able if horse needs surgery could go into a rabbit hole. Also expressed this when I just watched the hillarius Dr Gluon first view with some gameplay.

With that sky ceiling, you can use that on the floor and put a couple of ice cubes in it (from debug) or upsized snow piles to make it look like the artic waters with all the icebergs in it.

There is a house i saw recently and fell in love with it. This whole set can help me recreate it in sims and im so excited :D

I’m soooo excited for your let’s play of this since your cottage living let’s play was my favorite!!

As a historical Simmer, I am very excited about the BB assets from this pack. I don't mind that the counters are lacking clean, modern swatches, as the rustic ones are going to be so much more useful for me. I've played Old Western saves before, but now I'm going to have to go back to that era. In Sims 3 I only ever played with horses once, and I don't see myself playing with them much in Sims 4. However, the rest of the pack looks to be fantastic.

I think I really love everything so far! You really did an amazing job showcasing everything here. I’m absolutely in awe of everything.
