The combination of Homer (Dan Castellaneta), his new pet pig, and a leaky silo full of excrement triggers a disaster that threatens not just Springfield but the entire world. An angry mob descends on the Simpson home, splitting the family. With Earth's fate in the balance, Homer sets out on a quest for redemption in order to save the world and earn Marge's (Julie Kavner) forgiveness.

This is not only a great movie, it also feels like the last great Hurrah for The Simpsons in general. But since this film was a smash hit at the box office, with half a billion worldwide, it shows that they’re still extremely popular, a reason why it’s still on the air today, and it seems like it isn’t going to go anywhere anytime soon.

I grew up in Alaska and was in Alaska when I saw this movie. The whole theater erupted in cheers when Homer showed they were going to Alasla 😂 They had artists from Alaska to help draw the landscapes in the Alaska scenes, and said artists told the writers they should drop the song and dance scene they were planning on making fun of Alaskas high rate of alcoholism and suicide 😬

do they still pay people to live in Alaska?
@danielpopp1526
Жыл бұрын
@@mrgonzale0978 yeah. It's meant as an annual booster to the economy from the oil companies. One of the writers of the states constitution wanted to keep at least some of the oil money in Alaska, so they came up with the annual Permanent Fund Dividend. How much is paid out depends on how well it's invested, but unfortunately the state government has been using it for financial loans due to their bad management (they wouldn't need to if they stopped giving oil companies tax breaks). The existence of the PFD also prevents the creation of a state income tax and prevents residence from claiming mineral rights on their property (seeing as they're technically profiting from mineral right on land they don't own). The only people making big bucks of the oilfields, besides the oil companies, are the Native Alaskans living in nearby villages.

Now I like the Simpsons movie
As a non-American, when I first watched this movie and Ned brings up the four states ordeal, I actually thought that it was very much correct, unaware that those states aren't supposed to be near each other. But now I understand that they're nowhere near each other and that Ned just said that for Springfield's location being that much more obscure.
I was only 8 years old when this was released 😂 I think I watched it a year after the release, but wow this movie was so funny at the time and now as an adult, its still funny but those emotional moments really hit! Poor Marge and Lisa, they're so sweet lol

I was only 4 when it came out, so naturally I didn't see it until I was about 16 (quarantine gave me a LOT of movie-watching time). The movie took over 7 years to make. The idea for a movie came in the late 90s, then it took 3 years or so to think of the movie plot, including the idea of making it a musical. Plus, the movie script was kept so secret that the crew would shred each script after a voicing session.
I'll never forget being 11 years old watching this in theatres. The fandom of Simpsons was the equivalent of MCU fandom. Right after Homer pointed at us and the intro began, everyone erupted in applause. I'd rather relive that experience than Infinity War, Endgame and No Way Home.

I felt like ranting about Jake's mental health, so I will. Jake was always sorta paranoid after being cheated on, and being betrayed by his trusted friend makes it worse. His paranoia, however, actually makes him easier to manipulate because everyone knows he's paranoid. He never knows what to believe because ANYONE could be manipulating him. He definitely needs therapy and would likely benefit from anxiety medication. Honestly tho everyone on this show probably needs therapy, especially after the show
