The Simplex Vs The Equinox testing the signals

Ойын-сауық

Today we took the Simplex and the Equinox out and when we found a signal we compaired both the Equinox and the Simplex to see what they made of the target.
I think because we are used to the Minelab Equinox and its tones we seem to feel more at ease using them but the Simplex did do well againt the equinox.

    This was a great video! I love both machines. I just got my Nox 800, but I have had the Simplex for almost a year. If there was one thing I learned about the Simplex it that it loves big iron targets. Sometimes you can tell it's iron if it's a small target because the signal will be broken. That's not the case with big iron. With that said, I dug an awful lot of iron with the Nox the last time I took it out. I think a lot of it was because there were high tones mixed in occasionally and I didn't want to miss a good target that was next to a piece of iron, so I dug it. This was the case only once. lol Thanks for sharing this with us, guys!!

  • @TheMetalDetectingChannel

    @TheMetalDetectingChannel

    Yes you can dig a lot of iron with the nox but im starting to learn what to not dig lol but still you have to dig to be 100% I guess.. lol

    If you pump the Simplex over the target ( like when you ground balance) you usually get the number 4 ID which is the ID for iron and there is a mute button to stop the interference from the pin pointer .

    For the price difference you could get two Simplex detectors. Simplex did a great job. But from what I’m seeing it takes time getting to know that machine before it becomes a real beast. If money isn’t an issue go with the Nox , it’s a bit lighter and tones sound better. But I did order a simplex because of this video.

    Great video. Ive owned both for a year and have used them until theyre nearly falling apart (well the simplex is anyway)... my thought is the The Simplex is a great value with some good features. But in terms of finding targets in undisturbed soil- it’s just OK, and rather overhyped based on some claims out there...It isnt a deep machine, though its respectable on sand and loose, loamy soil.... The nox on the other hand has shocked me many times in terms of raw depth and ID stability.

    Regarding the tones, I used to hate the tones when I first got one, especially field mode. Park 1 is nearly as deep and gives you 3 tones like an XP. The modulation on the simplex is far better so you can work out what you're detecting just from sound alone. I sold my Nox last week due to the overall poor build quality compared to the simplex and lack of clear sound. Once you get used to a Nokta it's hard to go back to that bwoop bwoop sound (although it doesn't fatigue as much). I've found a LOT of silver with my simplex and tiny Roman grots and other historical items. With the new carbon shaft announced and new coils, it's an absolute amazing detector.

    I agree with you on the build quality, thats the thing i like most about the simplex, love the feel of quality. Interesting how a $250 machine can get out there bump heads with a Nox. The cross talk between the Simplex and Nox is bad. I have found the interference from the Nox will affect the Simplex even if it's not making it chatter. Got to back it off 25 feet or so. It's not a Nox but for $250 it rocks. I own two of them.

    Hey Paul, the simplex is a great machine, it is a little noisy compaired to the newer multi frequncy machines but its still great for its money, if you are looking at doing a bit of beach detecting then i would say stay away and gets somthing multi like the Legend or even the Minelabe equinox range or Vanquish range. If you are over in the UK then LP metal detectors have a great range of detector here www.lpmetaldetecting.com/TMDC10 cheers for watching mate

    Really not a fan of the audio from the simplex, I think it would give me a headache. I find minelabs a bit soft and I have the volume cranked right up on mine so I can hear it properly, my deus is about right for me, but the simplex is far too harsh in my opinion, I’m sure it’s a good machine but I don’t think I could stand the audio, sounds like a stylophone.

Mine had clearly been opened and used and if I didn't know better would've thought it had been a returned item. Maybe the calibration is out on some of them?
