The SIMPLEST Way To Tighten Fence Wire | Strainrite Ratchet Strainer
👉🏻 Yep, you can grab 'em here: bit.ly/ratchetstrainer
If you need to tighten fence wire, you've got options! You know we love our Strainrite chain strainers, but if you want to tighten fence wire another way, the strainrite ratchet strainer is the tool for you. Today we show you just how easy these are to use.

lol....love the interruption, I feel your pain!
Love these things. I use them on grape vine arbor wire, cable clotheslines, small guy wiring and on electric and non-electric single strand fencing wire. For barbed wire you probably got to trim the barbs down so not to overfill the strainer spindle.
Very cool!
Good info, well presented. Thanks for posting - thumbs up.
Thanks for sharing.
I love this channel lol
I'm building my first cattle fence ever and am getting a couple calves. This video helped tremendously. I bought all the wire and ratchets but have no idea what I'm doing 😂
nice for a fence you need to adjust
Hi SIr, Can I use this for barb wire ..Can you make one video on how to use for barb wire pls..
Xt1s, the best strainer. Only one I will use
What size wire is is that. I bought some 10 gage wore but that looks pretty think.
I'm looking to build a 6ft.backyard fence using 1 1/4" galvanized pipe (old well pipe) for posts and two courses of 1/4" galvanized cable at the top and bottom to attach shade cloth adapted for fencing. The current use of this cloth is generally for zip tying to galvanized chain link fencing posts/rails but want to adapt it to either 2x4 rails or if possible just run 1/4 wire rope for rails and attach the fabric grommets to the top and bottom cable runs using zip ties. Has this been done yet and how tight does the cable need to be in order to be a stiff enough rail for the cloth? The post spans are 8ft and are 6ft tall. Run lengths are 40 and 56 ft.
I guess those guys with the music work for you, never seen someone actually cut it off unless they are on payroll 🤣🤣.
I use the little baby version of that for holding my winter cover on my above ground pool. Mine is exactly the same except, mine is smaller, mine is painted black, mine comes with its own crank and BONUS… mine is guaranteed to pinch your skin every time you use it!
I was going to use this method with a 172 foot stretch with h braces at each end but there is one issue. If I loop and crimp a strainer for each wire it will run at the center of my termination posts and run along side the opposite post. Would that intersect my diagonal wire for my h brace and then run against the outside of the inner posts of my h brace? Or would you think it would be best to just terminate both ends with a termination knot so that the wire runs along the out side of the h brace posts?
slipknot 🤙
I'm surprised at the strength of that little piece of metal you used to link the 2 ends.
Can you use standard chain link tension wire with that wire strainer?
What keeps the wires from sliding up or down the steel post? Overtighten and you have an angled end post. I have used those ratchet strainers on concrete fence posts and they do work great!
Dan, Thanks for the great videos. I hope maybe to get some help with tightening m tension bands. I am DIY-ing a dog kennel, 20' x 20'. Only 3 sides are chain link, the 4th side is the skirting under my deck.
