Rankings: #1 Nicky Rod because he actually listens without constantly interrupting, jesus Damien was so annoying in this one lol. Super disrespectful the way he just kept throwing in random, unrelated things, especially after Rob talked about his grandma passing, the thing with the note nobody cares and then while Rob talks about his stomach issues Damien jumps in with random info about the TV show thing.. Ethan was interrupting too but I feel like a lot of it originated from Damien and then Ethan couldn't help himself and joined in lol. PLEASE GUYS LET HIM TALK. Especially the DDS, Danaher stuff was the most interesting and you just kept behaving like 5 year olds

Ethan and Damian were really really bad in this one. I think I noticed more because I really wanted to hear Rob finish his stories. I know you guys want to keep the vibe of just shooting the shit but just let whoever is talking talk, holy shit!

Finally boys, I was waiting to get my fix of simple men, talkin simple things.

Excellent podcast. I might be one of the few people who equally appreciates Rob's love of Wittgenstein and also the humor of the Simple Men. Also bonus points for Eddie Cummings lore.

It was nice to hear Krishna Mirjah's influence on the early leglocking meta discussed. Krishna has been a friend for over 20 years. In the early days, we were watching a lot of Pancrase videos- very leglock-heavy fights. This style had a big impact on Krishna and he developed intricate leglock entries and attacks that evolved into the system Eddie Cummings used to great success. I'm sure he would be happy to discuss his approach to grappling with you guys.

Kudos to Robert ... and to the crew, for a good interview. Robert ignored the advice of people who loved him, and didn't just follow his heart - but found a way to make a living from it. Following your heart is an easy decision - having the intelligence and agility of thinking to make a good living from it - is another thing entirely. it's not that difficult to become independently wealthy on the Jiu Jitsu landscape, provided you can put in the time (decades) - but it's definitely not for the 'ordinary'. Nice work guys. Cheers

Thanks man! Yeah, I tell people you can definitely make a living from Jiu jitsu on par with many other fairly reasonable careers. It is unlikely you will become rich but that's also true in most other career choices as well.

Why does everyone talk about Eddie Cummings but no one ever mentions Reilly Bodycomb???!!! Dude was pre Eddie. I remember him crushing people back in 2009. First guy to really drink the Dean Lister Kool-aid. Just saying that dude deserves some recognition.

Rob should be canonized for the patience and the derailing he's endured throughout this podcast.

Great to see a mention of Krishna Mirjah. He really is the grandfather of the modern leglock system. He's a Serra black belt who'd been experimenting with the leglock system since the 90s and helped Eddie develop it. Eddie then enhanced it under Danaher, but Danaher of course took all the credit from everyone.

Gotta rank Damien bottom tier because of his delusions of getting an adcc 2024 invite without doing trials

Believe it or not, acid reflux is most of the time caused by not having enough stomach acid.
