Bobby ideas on determinism seem right but he cant quite use the correct arugemts to display it. You need to first explain physics and how everything to our knowledge besides outselfs as humans can be explained by the series of controlled and independent variables happening before it. We then have to ask oursleves why might we be the exeption. Then you run down a thought experiment we did in philosophy about a man who was born in povery to as a product of rape, his mother doesn't love him because of this and neglects and abuses him. This causes him to act out in school and public life untill he commits a low level crime and get caught. Because he is in poverty he gets a public defender and does the maximum sentance for a low level crime. When he gets out of prison finally he meets up with his brother an intends to to an armed robbery, they rob a couple at gun point and the man shoots the couple and goes to prison for life. Could this man avoided the path that he was thrusted down with no control? This was a real story i cannot remember the guys name unfortunately. The question then become is there a benefit to acting as though we have free will?
