The Sidmouth Folk Festival 1989

This is a super 8 film I made of the 'Sidmouth International Festival of Folk Arts' back in 1989. The music is by a band called Blowzabella, who were appearing at the festival that year. The dance team displaying on the sea front (the men in light blue shirts and the ladies with red sashes) are the University of East Anglia Country Dance Society, (from Norwich) which I was a member of at that time.

Wow propelled back in time! What an amazing festival it was back then...happy memories.
Oh What Memories! I was there that year :) (And several before.) My 2 daughters danced at the Arena!. Wasn't it wonderful to see all those amazing International Teams! And those wonderful Lunch-time Ceilidhs in the pub yard (forgotten name!) And our 'Kipper Family'! I first saw Blowzabella at a Community College in Leics in the late 70s; Until recently I danced NW Morris with a Suffolk Side; THANK YOU SO MUCH for Posting this :) (Y)
And not a tat stall in sight on the Esplanade and plenty of people on East Beach. Lovely. What a wonderful council the EDDC is. Ahem

Ah wow. Looks fun but terrifying. (I hate crowds) My parents both went on the year they got married. My dad found the video and told me that 'if the group are very bad' then that's his.
Less commercial, now. (It changed its name to "Sidmouth folkweek". .I've been going for 20-odd years and will continue while still breathing (possibly longer if I can). Why would I holiday anywhere else ?
