The side of Mexico you’ve NEVER seen!!
I spent a week in small-town Oaxaca, Mexico for a local cultural celebration no foreigner has experienced (**this is a side of Mexico they don't want you to see**)
❁❁Subscribe to my channel: kzread.info?su...
Come with me to experience this AMAZING week of Oaxacan festivities in a small town you've probably never heard of called Santa Maria Mixtequilla. The reason I say that is because NO ONE has ever made a vlog of this place before.
One of my good friends Ivett's family is from this small town and she invited me to come here and get the local's perspective on this incredible cultural experience. Every year the people of Santa Maria Mixtequilla throw a huge festival-like celebration they call "Fiestas patronales de la Virgin Santa Catalina de Siena."
This Mexico vlog includes:
- Multiple elaborate parades filled with music, candy-throwing, and townspeople dressed in traditional Oaxacan clothing
- A behind-the-scenes look at Oaxacan food is made
- Adorable animals like pollito, my adopted chickadee
- A look at the beautiful clothing worn in this region (huipiles and enaguas) and how women do their hair and makeup
- Crazy pyrotechnics called toritos and the castillo
- The 5-hour expedition for "forest flowers"
- One of my favorite parts called the "fruit-throwing parade" where the royal procession and others in town throw thousands of items into the street for the spectators
- And MORE!
Let me know in a comment what you think of this festival. Would you like to see more videos like this?

Wow, Maddie! What a blast of Mexican culture! No doubt an attack on all your senses. It is truly amazing all the work that goes into all that and all by volunteers! The decorations. The food. The music. The colorful costumes. Those crazy bulls they set on fire. What an incredible engineering feat that last explosion of fire and the fireworks was. You looked amazing in all those traditional dresses. Glad that your hair recovered. This video says more about how wonderful the Mexican people are than any other. Their faith. Their love of family. Their culture. Their music. Their passion. Their hospitality. Their kindness. Their values. All unbeatable in any other country. In my two years living in Mexico I never saw anything as wonderful as this. I miss Mexico every single day and wish I could come back. Love ya! (This was also your first video that I wish was close captioned so I knew what you were saying. lol)

This video really cached my attention from beginning to end, it was more than an average youtube video, it was a very profesional documentary 🎉i'm from Mexico City and i moved to Mazatlán 9 years ago but i have only gone twice to Oaxaca and i did a crazy trip from Mexico City to Veracruz to Huatulco crossing the istmo 😆visiting the Atlantic and Pacific in the same Holy week holidays. I think Oaxaca has many hidden treasures (rainforest, archeological sites, beaches, culture, food, music, colonial cities, wonders and traditions). My grand parent was from Oaxaca but from the valley, Oaxaca City, but when i worked as a musician at parties i had the opportunity to work for people from the Istmo and they felt very proud from their traditions, some girls also dressed as "Tehuanas" and i played a famous musical theme "Sandunga" with my keyboard. I like the "Tríos" music also, kind of melancholic guitar and vocal music. I think you have done amazing videos lately, going deeply into really great adventures, and fireworks are really dangerous 😅, but that doesn't stop them to burn them and the natural cycling piscina was phenomenal 😅, really funny
