thank you to everyone for letting me know the “vintage military coat” is actually a US marines coat! i’m so sorry i had no idea, i genuinely thought it was a coat from another country decades ago since it ended up in a random goodwill. i will not be wearing the wearing the coat as i didn’t earn the right to and i don’t mean any disrespect to the marines - please let me know if there’s any way i can return to coat to the marines or donate it to a marines family so that this lovely garment can go to someone who deserves it!

Honestly , you should be fine. I didn't even notice it was a Marines top without the smaller pieces + belt. Plus, I think we can all agree that the Marines have really nice uniforms in comparison to the army's ugly ass Dress Blues (did we go to "pink & greens" yet?) And ACUs.... thank God for OCPs ((I served in the army so I have a right to talk shit about our ugly ass uniforms lol))

BUT with that being said, military bases generally have thrift stores where they sell military issued items so...I think society-wise: tis not okay. Reality tho: to each his own.

The thai i think one is really gorgeous you should try it its like the same up top but usually has like balloon sleeves and like a long slit from hip to ankle so its more like a top that you wear with like genie pantaloons its soooo feminine and modest and weirdly sexy and just god i wish i could wear one without feeling like a monster since im not asian at all... i mean non asians do river dance and play the harp and celebrate st patricks and a bunch of other stuff but i want to wear a kimono and im stealing a culture. Pfffft. The actual japanese people ive spoken to love LOVE it when people from other cultures experience theirs and enjoy theirs and want to wear yukata and try other traditional things. Lin Tang qipao is Mandarin. Cheongsam is actually the English word/translation for it, believe it or not

100% identify with your feelings of guilt wearing the outfits of your heritage. I'm am 3rd generation Mexican-American, and although my family is Americanized, I am sooo proud of my Mexican heritage. Most of the time, I feel like I'm not enough to other Latinos - when that happens, I just hold my head high and remember where I came from and where my ancestors came from, and although I may never be the perfect Latina, I would never call myself anything else. You could soooo be a personal shopper you rake it in girl. My god i want to go thrifting with you. I have good taste but i dont have a real sense on how to wear or suit clothes to my body type without feeling slutty (im hourglass) so i cant really wear anything fitted or it feels inappropriate since im curvy or anything that isnt really modest in coverage or i basically just get boob stares from both guys and girls so its a lose lose here. I pretty much exclusively live in baggy loose hip shorts and baggy loose tee shirts or maxi dresses. Maybe you could do a thrift store guide for different body types? 💖💖💖 Feel better and have a lovely holidays 😊😊😊

Im going to try step out of my comfort zone a bit too this year i started wearing crop tops and high waisted skirts and jeans and i really loved it and even with the comments or stares i felt really great and sort of just a ah fuck it it im a goddess i dont care attitude. They were still modest and close enough to my comfort zone yet new and flattering for me to really enjoy it. So next year im going to try slightly less modest tops seeing her rock it and not caring and looking gorgeous in literally everything has given me the confidence to try as well. I mean i live in outback australia its 43 celcius today i should be able to wear very free open bare minimum clothes and not feel like a piece of meat or like slutty doing so. Ive worn a slim more open plain blue dress and a white tee underneath and i really loved it even though it wasnt something id usually try i wven wore like a fashionable straw wide brimmed hat and my leopard print sunglasses and felt so awesome and its really the first time in the two years of having it that ive felt enough courage to wear it out and not feel like pretentious or like a dorky farmer lol. Let me know how it goes!!! I'm sure you'll look supremely beautiful no matter what you wear 😊😊😊

As i told you before Ashley, you are better than Netflix. i am here in my day off, sitting with coffee and croissant, listening to you. You should do podcast... (i dont listed to podcast, but i am sure you will be good, and a lot of people will listen to you, maybe i will even start to listen to that) And i am sure you will get in some years a big prize, for something, because you are such a smart ass, and you will be able to wear that amazing dress, but i am sure a brand will ask you to dress you then and you will choose... your vintage dress or your Valentino :O !!?? Good question. Take some gignger! And dont sit on the floor, is not good for ladies someone said to me... your system down there get too cold and you also are more likely to get a infection.... sorry, just trying to share a good advice

BellaAtkins honestly I’m not sure, the person who donated it is probably no longer enlisted, so no longer needed it and was maybe not able to find someone to buy it (they’re not cheap). Probably didn’t want to hold onto it any longer and decided to donate it (rather than just throw it away). This is why thrifting is fun you never know what you’ll find!
