No, they were a self-governing autonomous region (which has currently been suspended) and are not a nation regardless of anyone's desires. Catalonia is not a nation state by any definition regardless of their sovereignty.

Great Alexander | That's not how it works buddy. They govern it themselves, which means they are a nation over which a different nation has jurisdiction over. Just like Iraqi Kurds, or Chechens, or Tuvans and many examples.

As a geography loving nerd I've seen so many videos about these topics that I literally know all of this and so I don't watch this stuff that often anymore. But, you actually make it interesting for me again! Keep it up. :)

The Independent State of Spanish Haiti, in modern day Dominican Republic, gained "independence" (nothing actually changed) from Spain in 1821, only lasting 7 momths before it was invaded and anexed by Haiti in 1822. 22 years after, the Dominican Republic was founded and gained independence from Haiti.

I'm so glad you talked about the Republic of Banat. The information you gave were very accurate. I remember when I was in the 6th grade I made a project about this country and it was very hard to find information about it because it lasted for such a short time ( even though i basically live in the Romanian part of the hystoric region of Banat). Very few people around here actually know this country existed.

YOU forgot State of Slovens Croats AND Serbs This state lives 32 days 29.10.1918.-1.12.1918 This country was recognised .

Laur I live in Timisoara and I knew about it :)) We don't even have the same history as the rest of Romania and a lot of holidays are different here too.. In romanian schools we don't really learn about Banat...

We have apparently a Finnish teacher who came from trip back to school. And since today was Finland's independence day all teachers had drew Finland's flag on their cheek. So I asked my teacher to draw Finland's flag on my cheek but as you may know last week was also Romania's independence day so I asked her to draw Romania's flag on my other cheek and she did. I did this all for my Romanian and Finnish friend which I respect and love the most (In case you're wondering I'm Armenian). I love you Finland and Romania. Happy independence day! Japan is one of the few countries that was never invaded until the 20th century, but it wasn't united for centuries. China and Iran were invaded different times and they had different empires, not only one. I think Pandyan Empire could win. They existed between 303 BC and 1650 CE.

You should do s longest live country! (Greece, Macedonia, Cyprus, Italy, etc)

The Banat county in Romania is like 95% romanian, and was so throughout it's history. Weird that it didn't get annexed into romania immediately.

I think you're referring to Banat nowadays maybe. Back in 1918, it was almost 1/4 Romanian, 1/4 Hungarian, 1/4 German and 1/4 Serbian.
