She had to have been an incredibly strong woman to have survived such a horrific childhood. For every Eartha Kitt, there are hundreds of women in that situation that don't survive it. If not for her aunt, we'd probably not know her at all. She was an amazing woman.

After the CIA surveillance of her became public, Eartha did return to Broadway. In the philosophy of life and rebirth that I have come to understand I believe that you are right. From what I understand we decide if we want to come back to this earth as if we were choosing to play a video game. Some spirits are just here to support others and some are here to have their own journeys. Some of those that are on their own journeys have decided to challenge themselves to see how much they can hold on to their spirituality even under the worst circumstances. I think she must have been one of them

I met Eartha twice in the 90s. At her shows she would request men (often starstruck gays like me) to be seated close to the stage, so she could sing and flirt with them. She sang a song in German in one of her shows with a spot light on me in the balcony. I barely held it together and will never forget it. It pains me to hear of her early life. Despite that she became someone we can all be proud of. Thank you so much for making this video.

I seen Eartha Kitt in concert many years ago, in Seattle (The Moore theater). I forget exactly what year, about 1989. I remember her doing just what you said. She was incredible! Especially singing that one song with the spot light on her, as she danced around and walked back and forth across the stage. That song she sang was called "Have Nagila". An old traditional Jewish song. The best, and most enjoyable version I have ever heard from anyone. It was incredible.

What she said to Lady Byrd Johnson was sooo true about our young sons being recruited or drafted for the wars and put on the frontlines to fight. The President couldn't handle the truth and blacklisted Eartha but she was patient and smart so in the end it all came out and made him look like a fool. He's one President i didnt like.

I have never commented on KZread I've only been an observer, but felt compelled to comment after seeing your documentary. I have loved Eartha Kitt since I was a small boy, I found her beautiful, alluring, talented, fascinating larger than life, brave and magical. I later found out a little about her, more of an insight into her life as an entertainer than an insight into her whole life. Although aware of some of the political difficulties Eartha faced I did not fully understand the intricacies or complexities Eartha faced or indeed all of the battles she was involved in, so thank you for creating this video and giving such a wonderful insight into Eartha's life . Tears filled my eyes when you spoke of Eartha's suffering and abuse as a young child. thank goodness to her aunt Marnie came to rescue her from the life she had come to know giving young Eartha the opportunity to express and reveal her talents eventually to the whole world. What a beautiful dignified lady, who although facing hardships, challenges obstacles and confrontation from the lowest to the highest levels remained Kind, humble, dignified and generous, a fantastic documentary I wished you had done the hour and a half version however it is wonderful none the less. If anyone needs a hero, they found one in Eartha Kitt. What a survivor and I hope this inspires others who have suffered abuse and bigotry. Thank you for telling her story and doing it so respectfully. I was a kid watching Batman and that purr of hers was chilling, I really believed she had claws and knew how and when to use them, and now I see that's true in her life too, not just as Catwoman. Did anyone else notice that the Catmobile also purred 31:23? I remember the Smothers Brothers getting cancelled by CBS in 69 because they refused to stop criticizing Nixon and Viet Nam. It was the summer of love, but also another summer of fighting a no-win unpopular war that just wouldn't end. I had already lost an Uncle serving over there. That was a shame Smother Brothers got cancelled, it was a really good show and they did not fear to speak truth to power either. Maybe an idea for a future episode?

She was an absolute beauty, no matter her race! She was so gracious and talented! My older brother was in love with her from her time as Catwoman on Batman '66. I never thought that it was odd that my red haired Irish brother was in love with a woman of color. Maybe that's because race was never really an issue with my family. We were taught to treat everyone the same, just by my parents' example. I was so sad when she passed, seeing it as another piece of my childhood disappearing.

Because you were taught at an early age that race, like beauty , is only skin deep. Your brother saw something that many people didn't realized: Eartha was one of the sexiest women of all time. The Catwoman " Meeooow". " Santa Baby" . The way she handled herself. Orson Welles said " She's the sexiest woman on earth." Everyone's ideal of sexiness was Marilyn Monroe, but although she was prettier, she had to manufacture her sexiness ( She was always in her " look at me clothes ", and her walk was because she had to cut 1/4in off one of her shoes, nottomentionher" Happybirthday MrPresident" song). Marilyn used her physical attractiveness to get attention when she walked through a room, Eartha only had to walk in. What really bothers me the most is that she's never mentioned on any "Sexiest woman " list. I'll never understand that. You seem like you have a family with true values. I wish you and all of your loved ones peace and happiness.

Thank you. This is one of the stories we need to hear these days. A woman who put truth first and dealt with everything as it came, who, while finding what felt right for herself, never forgot to aid others as she went. Someone who faced all the sexism and racism, who took the results of her stands in stride but never forgot to look for when she could make a difference, and who held her head up high and proud. Despite a completely different (and far less difficult) path, there are a lot of lessons I can take from her life. Thank you for reminding us of this beautiful person and her meaningful life. Peace.
