Great video, honestly after getting to shadow for the day and seeing the quality of the jet as well as what it is enabling you to build in your team, the cost mentioned here seem like an absolute deal. Very few will be able to understand the impact this is having on the team it self. To me that is the real win & the real value in this. Obviously if you told KZread that, you'd get crushed but it's the truth. How does a company put a number on employee retention, relationships, motivation, and camaraderie idk, but I do know from my experience this is going to give HouseHack a whole other life of it's own. Not to mention the limitless content it will allow for also. +++ the value it provides by giving you the ability to travel a lot while also being able to lay your head in your own bed at the same time. ABSOLUTELY A1 PURCHASE!

Or maybe he is just business oriented and is milking it as much as he can. By the time the first year tax rebate ends he probably got the second year already paid for. At the third year house hack will be full steam and the usage costs will go down considerably. Fourth year the thing is already paid for and after that is just a profit acceleration machine. The only question I have is, but I'm sure he will address it on future content, is when it does make sense to keep the plane and when it does make sense to replace it for a new or newer one.

I really think the point of getting a private jet is if you have over 1 bill and can somewhat easily acquire 10 or 15 million in cash somewhat easily if the need arises. If instead you have to offer people a option to fly in a jet with you for cash then I think a jet might not be a viable option for travel.

Kevin, as a aircraft owner and aircraft mechanic.......i believe that you are sorely mistaken on your overly optimistic expectations of owning a jet. Things are 10x more expensive to repair or replace and you will find that the best choice is a situation like flex jet where you buy hours of managed fleet. Dont say that many of us here who know......didnt warn you.

Imagine his wife: baby why are you flying so much and I don't see you anymore? Kevin: baby I have to fly even more to lower my costs Wife: yes but do you actually have a job there to do? Kevin: No, I need to lower my costs 😂 However he has the money to do it and more power to him his gonna make the money back 10x but dude this type of mental gymnastics is insulting our intelligence. • @SI-lg2vp

Not likely you will ever fly 400 hours per year. Fractional ownership has a very high utilization in flight hours and it takes a toil on depreciated values. Everyone would have to depart and return to the same destinations. You need to fact check your assumptions with a jet management company. It's not in your best interest to operate under Part 91. You need to operate under Part 135 so that plane is maintained under this part, and can be sold at a later date. Trying to sell a plane that has been Part 91 operated might make it harder to sell, and need extensive maintenance to bring it back to Part 135. Play with the numbers all you want, but be prepared for financial shock when you need a new, set of brakes, replace a windshield, a starter generator, engine hot section inspection. bird strike, engine shutdown. It will take your breath away.

The charter cost for your aircraft, with a minimum of two hours, is roughly $5,000 per hour round-trip or $6000 one way, not the $14,000 that you mentioned within your video. Also, you’ll have to “give back” the 100% appreciation in the first year, if you sell the airplane within five years. The break even for aircraft ownership, depending on the variable fuel expense and passengers on board, is between 350 and 500 hours per year.

*OPPORTUNITY INCOME* : If total costs per your example are c. $7000 per hour, and Net Jets hire these things out at $14000 per hour, you could make a case for leasing your jet to Net Jets. Let's say they pay you $9000 per hour, so you make a profit of $2000 per hour. If it flew 1000 hours a year, you make $2mm on your jet. What am I missing here ? What is the utilisation of a typical Net Jet ? 50% ? 80% ? How many chargeable hours does a typical Net Jet do per year ? 1500 ? 2000 ? Looks like you could use your jet when you wanted, and still make say $1mm lending it to Net Jets.

*FIXED COSTS* : When comparing jet ownership to hiring a jet, fixed costs should include the financing cost, or an imputed opportunity cost of ownership. And it should include the fixed portion of depreciation. The jet will lose value due to age and improvements in new jets, just like cars. *VARIABLE COSTS* : Should include an amount for depreciation based on number of hours flying. A lightly used jet will command a higher price than one used a lot.

Not sure if you saw my comment about building a framework around a specific audience or not. However content like this for most of your audience comes off as boosting, does not really add anything for most of those that watch your videos. I have been fortunate as well and I often pick up the tab when dinning out. One night a friend approached me and explained how he did not appreciate it as it made him feel like less of a person. Something I learned a long time ago as I accumulated wealth is to be considerate of those around you that are not as fortunate and how my wealth can intimidate others or put them off in regards to how I talk or my actions (like picking up a tab). My guess is most of your audience cannot afford a jet...Just some advice and something to be aware of. Its not hating, its more about being socially aware. Congrats on the Jet, just some food for thought.

Thanx for the video. Wondered how soon you would talk about cost of ownership.. Aircraft don't lose value like vehicles. Its amazing how little depreciation there is in that market. BTW I really enjoy your you tube channel. More of a middle of the road approach to all you cover... IMHO. Keep it up.

Soooo... Kevin should reserve Monday's through Wednesday's for himself and charter out the jet for the other 4 days.

As much as I love making money 165 gallons of aviation fuel an hour it astounding and not the best for the earth, we def have to be considerate of how it is we make money. Perhaps an annual donation to some tree planting fund or something like the arbor society could make up for this.

So the cost is about 1/10th, so if you rent or loan out your jet to others while you’re not using it you can make 10x the cost to you off of them… 🤔 100 hrs of rented flights each year and you’ve made back all your fixed expenses.

If you have a popular model you can offset most of your costs. My uncle owns a G4 from the 90’s and he only spends about 50k. He paid 3m and then another 350k to upgrade the plane. His plane rents at least 5-8 times a month with entertainment users mostly.
