Gr8 video as always Frederique, but I don't fully agree. Firstly people do all manner of risky things from rock climbing, to dirt bike riding to boxing to binge drinking, to keeping poisonous snakes and we don't stop them from doing any of this. So if people want to carry out their own cosmetic procedures, and are fine with the risks, IMHO they should be able to do so. You flag up pitfalls like them potentially buying fake filler, not having the necessary training or knowing their facial anatomy - all this is very true, but if legislation were to make it harder for them to buy genuine products, things could become even riskier. The dangers of DIY procedures, however, are likely being overblown. Yes! when things go wrong they go terribly wrong and this tends to be when counterfeit products are used and the procedures arn't carried out in a sterile fashion. But, especially within countries within the C.I.S I've met plenty of people who despite having zero medical training have been doing their own treatments for decades, with no ill effect. We really don't have the numbers to be able to tell how many d.i.yers are getting botched and how many are happily treating themselves with no issues. The risks that do exist, for example, of not having sufficient training and/or knowledge of anatomical structures could be reduced by providing training to d.i.yers and equipping them with a personalised map of their danger zones. (Unlike medical practitioners those who are treating themselves don't need to know anyone's anatomy other than their own) Official product could then be made available to those d.i.yers, who'd undergone such training, and in packs that contain everything they might need for a, safer treatment, from sterilisation to dissolvers. In this way they'd be treated similarly to those who pursuit dangerous sports or hobbies. If we want to live in a society where people have sovereignty over their bodies and lives, I don't believe we can't be singling out cosmetic d.i.yers as a special class and acting like they're doing something wildly different from others that pursuit other risky ventures. IMHO the proper approach would be to acknowledge that some people like to take charge of their own bodies and then build policies and procedures that would enable them to do so as safely as possible. xx
Do I feel sorry for them? No. Aging is a privilege denied to many many people. I think people have lost sight of what is really important in life.

You have to be really stupid to think it’s ok to do this on your own…
Frederique said it exactly how it is - "You have to be so stupid to do something like this."
Aging is a blessing! The alternative is death. I’m so sad that people feel they need to resort to such lengths.
I love this - "I inject myself, power to me! No, stupid!" Exactly!!! I like injectables, and have had Botox and Juvederm at times, but I haven't been able to afford them over the last few years , regardless, I would NEVER consider doing it myself. I actually have a plastic surgeon who has done mine, he knows the face, muscles, nerves, veins, etc., and even with a professional one can have adverse reactions (I never have, but I know someone who has, under a professional injector). Thank you for this important video!

How is it any more or less stupid though than for example doing a dangerous sport like boxing or deciding to binge drink or keeping poisonous reptiles? I can understand people thinking it's too risky to do ones own injections but I don't really understand why cosmetic d.i.yers are singled out as being so irresponsible when many have likely been treating themselves for years with no problems

@@johnsocialgosz2665 if we were talking about any of those things they would be stupid, imo, as well.
My brother is a reconstructive plastic & cosmetic surgeon in Australia. The number of patients he sees where they have botched cosmetic procedures &/or treatments from Asia or Europe that he has to fix is very high! Not to mention what he’s now seeing where patients have tried to do themselves! My brother trained for an additional 12 years on top of his five year University medical degree to become a reconstructive plastic & cosmetic surgeon. His training required several years in general surgery, A&E & burns units as a resident to build on his practical training to become fully qualified on top of not to mention many written & practical exams throughout these years to be a FRACS surgeon and have the qualification on his door of his practice. He is renown for being the surgeon you go to when you don’t want to look like you have had work done because his work is so good from all the years of study & training. For those wondering, FRACS stands for Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. The distinction is only awarded to specialist surgeons who have completed a minimum of 12 years medical and surgical education, including at least 5 years of specialist postgraduate training. Cosmetic surgery &/or treatments lives up to the saying you get what you pay for!

Absolutely ludicrous. How naive can one be 😮🙈
Absolutely not !! I never inject any crap into my face, I'd rather age gracefully
I get monthly facials, avoid the Sun, wash and moisturizer 2x a day, and generally practice mainstream skin care. This. Is. Bananas. Non, non, never, never, never! Thank you, Frederique, for talking about this and other important topics. Love your new format. 😊
In LA I spend around $1200 for Botox & some filler & although I could probably find it cheaper elsewhere, I only go to my dermatologist. I do this once a year and at 62, I do look much younger bc I think the injectibles have maintained my smooth skin . I do have naturally good skin, but I started injectibles when I first noticed lines I didn’t like (in my early 50s), and I think it’s been a “preventative “ measure. Nonetheless, no way would I ever try to do DIY medicine or cheap out on my face. If you can’t afford it, don’t do it because the consequences will be much more $$$ than the original procedure would have been done properly.
Too frightened to watch the results of tis stupidity! But good for you for discussing it.
Bravo, Frederique, for providing info on this. Yes, agree this is a very frightening and dangerous trend.

Kinda reminds me of when there used to be The Darwin Awards for dumb ways to die! Now add this to this list of stupid decisions of unqualified, ill informed, ill equipped human beings!
I would rather do nothing than let anyone, especially ME, do something medical to my face or body, except for experienced medical doctor or better yet, surgeon. It's just not worth the risk.
Keep speaking the truth about the dangers. Your voice could really save someone.
Not a chance, I would inject my own face!! Its only a matter of time before we start seeing patients coming into the GP surgery, with necrotic wounds to their faces. Part of my job is injecting medicines that are prescribed by a general practitioner, so I do have some experience around giving injections, but dear god, no way would I do this!!!
Even if they do buy the correct product, they wouldn't have the appropriate product to counteract the product if it starts to go wrong!

If they're being sensible about it then they do. Unfortunately, however, if they do get a blocked vein/artery, even if they administer hyaluronidase they'll likely still need medical assistance... IMHO that's why a D.I.Y injector should get a roadmap of their own danger zones. But there's few if any doctors, in the West at least, who'd be prepared to give them such for fear of being seen as endorsing/facilitating the practice.
"More power to me!" "OK. I'll increase the voltage."
No way would I do anything like that myself I’m lucky I don’t like needles 😅
1:01 And these scary side-effects can still happen if applied by a professional. I’ve read too many horror stories. I’ve decided to age naturally! I’m okay with looking older as I age. ❤❤ I use good skin care, and I plan to start facial exercise soon (I’m mid 40s). I also eat real food (avoid processed) & very little sugar. Rarely any alcohol. No smoking. Have worn sunscreen since I was a teenager. I always make an effort to look classy/polished. I do look younger than my age (by God’s grace & not abusing my body). I’ve never done anything complicated… no lasers, needles, acids, none of that stuff. Peaches Skincare 🍑🧡 says those things can cause more problems. Plus, I’m too low maintenance for all that. Who wants to be going to a salon all the time? 😂

I’m with you. I’m 74 and people guess my age as in my 50’s. I’ve never had any procedures done. I take care of my skin, especially sunscreen, drink lots of water and eat properly. I recently started using a NuFACE device and a friend I hadn’t seen since October said I was aging backwards. No way will I do any injections or plastic surgery. I always think if a wealthy celebrity gets botched plastic surgery, think Priscilla Presley, then what chance do the rest of us have? Age gracefully and live a beautiful life

I agree with you. I'm 62 and have never had any botox, fillers or any type of injections to my face. I find the idea risky and scary. I've always looked after my skin and it looks pretty good for my age, very minimal lines and wrinkles and people think I'm younger than my years. My greying hair is probably what gives my age away lol, and I haven't touched that either. I'm happy to age naturally as God intended for me. I don't have a problem with people wanting to look their best but sometimes they can go overboard with these procedures and risk their health in the process, and that's not a good thing!

Hello Frederique, thanks once again for another informative vlog highlighting this problem. I was shocked by the photos of botched procedures and saddened that some people are so dissatisfied with their appearance that they feel the need to try to fix it themselves. xx
Whatever happened to just staying out of the sun, not doing drugs, exercising and eating clean?
Hi, Frederique! Great video! I wiuld never inject myself. I know my limits, and I refuse to take this crazy risk. There is a very good reason why doctors spend more than 7 years in college, learning anatomy and countless other medical subjects: because if you have no idea what you are doing and end up injecting and/or enjuring a major vein in your face, you will be in serious trouble and maybe even disfigure yourself. Common sense is becoming so rare lately. If I will really want fillers, I will save money and eventually get it. Until then, I won't touch my face with a needle! 😂
Cant watch this, it’s the stuff of a horror movie. It is just….sad.
I used to be a hair stylist. People always ruined their hair by doing it at home, attempting to "save money". Fast forward, they would spend hundreds of dollars at a professional salon to fix their botched diy hair. Im not surprised that people try diy surgies...
Absolutely never never ! Thank you for the information!
I am shocked. What are these people thinking 😮
I would never do it myself. There are still risks by doing it at a professional. But much lower than doing it yourself. And... Doctors doing video for doctors? How weird. Would real doctors not get the education some professional place? I would certainly hope so.
Thank you so much for telling us about this. I believe you, but honestly, this is almost unbelievable. Tragic.
Even doctors can make bad procedures
This trend is so disturbing and indicative of the dangers of the beauty business. Thanks for covering these topics.
Calling "it" sausage works😂😂😂
This is crazy! People truly aren’t very smart are they.
It should be illegal to acquire the materials to do this oneself.
I have injected myself botox and filler several times. I have to say that I am a physician and I am allowed to do. Doing my botox works very well for me. Injecting myself with filler stresses me out! It's too painful to do on my own. And the hygiene standard must be very high and you have to know the anatomy! Watching this ist hard for me!
Crazy what people will do to try and look young, just not worth it with all this DIY surgery.
No way would I ever inject myself! If I want to save money in order to get Botox or fillers I do it by doing my own nails, trimming and dying my own hair. Things I can safely do myself, that's where I save money in order to pay for injectables DONE BY MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS.
I’ve seen huge discrepancies between prices among legitimate administrators. The actual cost of the product is relatively cheap, that’s why it’s sold on Amazon. Perhaps if there was less greed in the industry, these injections would become more affordable for everyone. There’s always another way to look at things.
On my face, heavens NO! Never go cheap, you will get what you paid for. Do it correctly or not at all.
wow. I was recently invited to a "Botox Party" - what the heck is that? Of course I said no. Is it a new MLM thing? I didn't even ask. Scary in my opinion
No way would I do this. I would not bleach my hair and leave that to professionals.
I have no problem with anyone who has any procedure done to better themselves. It is IMPERATIVE that you go to a MEDICAL professional-board certified to have any work performed. I am terrified of needles, so I won’t be participating-and a certainly won’t be injecting myself. I’m still queasy from seeing the needles in this video.
Après un certain point, en anglais on dit: we cannot save them from themselves. Triste mais vrai.
Thank you for warning against these dangers. D.Y.I. Injections are a no no!
this is crazy... why would anybody do this to his health?? people going crazy

Ummm injecting ones lips seems trés simple
I don't know who is paying $620 for botox. But if you come to Philadelphia, I get like everything done. And it's like $360 and if you can't afford that, you should not be doing it. I mean, it last 3 to 4 months. So if you can't afford that, I don't understand why you're trying to do it. It's out of your price. Bracket boo boo put the needle down.

The pictures you posted are of a young women who had an allergic reaction to lip filler injected by a professional. As you can see she’s still wearing the face mask from her doctors office. The doctor recommended Benadryl or to have it dissolved. This is not life threatening just embarrassing. Fillers, botox, and threads are not life threatening however Facelifts, breast augmentation, etc are.
I am in charge of my own body, and I embrace signs of aging . You are not in charge of your body if you feel ashamed of your body and want to 'hide' signs of aging.
It's difficult to believe people are actually so stupid! Sad.
I do not see the need for any of this, age with grace, aging is part of life. Do not let society dictate what you should look like. Love yourself for who you are and remember with age comes experience, love of life.

There is a reason why doctors spend years in medical school and residency programs. No way a lay person can learn the physiology of the face from YT videos. Can any of these self injectors name the muscles and blood vessels of the face?
At first, I wanted to write that people are to blame themselves and are really foolish. But I take that back, because these people are actually poor souls who, due to the constant bombardment of beauty on social media, are discontent with themselves even though everything is fine with them, and they are beautiful individuals. However, they don't hear that enough. When I was 20, a migraine specialist wanted to inject Botox into my forehead because they had seen good results with it. I then said, "You'll have to go through my dead body to get that needle anywhere near my face." This was because he admitted that there could be facial paralysis for life in the worst case scenario! And the Botox would have only worked for a maximum of 3 months. No thanks! Best wishes from Switzerland ♥
I've been giving myself DIY piloectomies all my life and have never had serious complications. I highly recommend them.
Just micro-needling it’s good for your face.
Who are these crazy MF’s who think they are doctors after watching a KZread video or studying a facial map?? That’s taking DIYing to another level!! Social media has made people believe they can be experts at anything without having any training or education. This is the world we now live in. Scary !

BIG LIE 😡

🤣
I wouldn't take the risk at all, because plastic surgeons botch people permanently all the time. If something is not broken, I'm not going to try and fix it. Getting older is a privilege that everyone doesn't get. Besides...it will fade no matter what you do. Everyone used to talk about Cher's surgeries and how well they worked, but are they still? No. She doesn't even look like she's wearing a human face anymore, which in my opinion, is worse than some wrinkles. Will your wrinkle free face and overfilled lips going to be any comfort on your deathbed? Also no.
I'm sorry but your lips are also infected…
Really Do you think all the people that injecting themselves are stupid enough? Do you think all of them purchasing products in the black market? Do you think they are all injecting fillers? Do you think if they are injecting fillers they don’t know what is a vo risks and they don’t have hiloronydase on hand? Do you think people are not responsible enough to do there on research before injecting? Yes there are stupid people but they are stupid in all the things. This high prices those greedy professionals of this industry makes me 🤮. You are shaming entire community. I don’t do that but I don’t think frightening and shaming is the way.
