Came here from the 3DS stop motion video. Surprising how different the same song sounds on a live stage.

Brilliant translation from the studio to the stage. Mercer has continued to evolve & blossom as a lyricist & performer. He is the heart of The Shins.

the dangers of over producing your record. its difficult to reproduce live. ive seen them do better versions of this. id be nervous as fuck on letterman too. lol. also like the clean tone on the bass solo.

don't get me wrong, it does sound good. but compared to the LP version, theres a lot of sampling & weird sounds that they simply cannot reproduce without having computers or backup musicians, & that's what i meant.

Josh Aubs He just means the version on the album/cd. It stands for "long play", simply referring to a full length album.

Floris Trap yea, that's the big problem of producing the a song in studio, you can sound good or bad when doing it live

This feels bloated as opposed to the over produced album version.. it kinda feels like a whole different song live...

The reason why there are not a lot of thumbs up is that it really is not that good....In my opinion....But that is just my taste,,,, A little too digiatal for my ears.
