The Shaky Head: "HOW TO FISH" Rigging, Rod/Reel, and TIPS!!!

Have you ever used a shaky head? Today I'll discuss how I rig a shaky head, the combos I fish it on, how it compares to other popular finesse techniques, and lastly we'll discuss how to fish it. The shaky head is a lot more versatile than a lot of people think. Different jig heads, plastics, and ways of using the rig can make all the difference. Thanks for watching feeshin friends!
COMMENT BELOW and let me know if you've had success with a shaky head!

Hey Debo!! Miles here. Just wanted to tell you Truthfully, I watch Utube videos about 5 to 6 hours Everyday. Your videos by Far are the Most Informative than ANY of the others, Seriously!! I'm the same guy that asked you about putting tape on before spooling Braid / Florocarbon on my bait casting reels, I've heard on different channels do it this way, do it that way. I would just like to do it the way you do it. Keep up the Tremendous videos my Friend 🙂

It’s fun to learn fishing techniques. I have fished my whole life, but have learned more in this past year than the rest of my years together. And Debo, you have been part of this learning curve. Bought shaky heads last year and can’t wait to use them more. I might try the ManBearPig in Tramp Stamp on them this season. Or a Buffalo Wild Wing.

Great advise, I believe most people over work shaky heads, ned rigs, and drop shots. Many fish in my area won't hit a moving piece of plastic, but suck it off the bottom after movement stops. Hits on the fall only seem to come from the most aggressive fish.

Great video Debo. I can't believe that I helped make this video. Great stuff. We went fishing last night and (since the wacky rig is my confidence bait) the wacky rig produced 2 fish. One 2lber and one new PB. We figured 6lbs (to lazy to use the scale). One more bite on the wacky. And a bite on the Berkley Pitboss. Wacky was a Bass Pro Shops Tournament series 4 & 1/2" Wacky Stik-o-worm in Junebug. Berkley Pitboss was a black and blue. New to the Shakey head. Never caught anything on it. Hoping that I can. Should have tried the TRD Crawz Ned rig last night. Awesome stuff!!!

Debo, I could go the whole season and only throw a shaky head with different trailers. I am confident no matter where I am and what the conditions I would still catch fish. Not because I am that good but because the bait is so versatile as you pointed out. The different shapes of the heads, the different weights and you can use almost every type and style of plastic on the market. As a result all of these combinations make up unique rigs that have different characteristics. I have tiny trout sized heads up to the standard 1/16, 3/16, 1/4 and 3/8 oz heads. I do not go any larger I love finesse fishing. 3,4 and 5 inch Senko’s were my standards for quite some time. Reaction Innovations Smallie Beaver and the standard version have been primary trailers when I am slow dragging the bottom. I have recently fell in love with Z-Man products both of the TRD’s have produced some quality fish. The Big TRD in PB&J has caught my largest fish and I mean multiple large fish.

You're 100% correct! It's a rig that can do a a lot of different things. Grass, wood, rock...it's not often that a lure can do all of that and not get hung up all of the time!

DEBO. great video. I fish the shaky head a little bit, but I've never caught anything yet. I get the feeling I'm working it too much or too fast. Since I'm new to the rig, I never know which style of shakey head hooks to buy, so I greatly appreciate the coverage on the various head and hook options. Explained it very well!

Awesome! I'm happy to hear that this could help! It's great to lightly pop it on the bottom like a jig, drag it, or just toss it at high percentage targets!

Cool video! Great points to review when I get out again. A few times I’ve struggled with getting stuck and lost a lure or two. I fish off the delta and I gather the plant life gets pretty thick below. Maybe I’ll work on my popping action too. Patience isn’t the problem since I honestly love the peace and quiet time

My FAV shakeyhead jig is the Buckeye Lures Pro Model. The flat face gives a SUPERB fluttering action when jerked, both up and on the fall. My favorite trailer is the Rzr Shad. It darts ever which way with each hard jerk, thanks to the flat face of the 3/16 jig. Bomb Cast Fall Sit Drag Sit Jerk (up) Fall Jerk (side sweep) Jerk (side sweep) 20lb test allows me to really rip it when I cast and jerk (imparting the best action to the lure). Reaction bites... love em.
