The Shahrukh Khan Speech Caused Outrage But Why?

Ойын-сауық

Did #srk really want to take a dig at the #ranbirkapoor starrer #animal or are we looking at a future in #bollywood where the star will only do morally uplifting roles that restricts him as an artist to be a vessel for goodness. I think SRK said somewhere that he wants to do roles appropriate for his age and indirectly accepted that a large part of audience watched his movies as a gesture of support. That is pretty high self awareness for a movie star.

I think his speech is reflective of the stories and characters he wants to associate with now. Those holding him accountable for the roles he’s played previously are dismissing the concept of an evolution of an actor at this stage of his career

the reason why srk's stance has changed on playing a dark character over the years is because he himself acknowledges the influence he has on the audience, i remember i once saw an interview of srk and in that interview he told that he had turned down the role of ala uddin khilji from padmavat because he knew he would make the character likable. and he didn't wanted such an awful character to be liked or idolized by the audience . i think this is the main reason for his change in approach in selecting roles over the years, as earlier, he was a struggling actor but now he is well established and know his influence over the masses , but then again maybe its just his personal choice which has evolved over the years.

John in Dhoom was just shown cool, but it inspiring people to steal or to drive bikes at a high speed is not the fault of the creators Some people like something while others will hate it.if you will see then dhoom2 went on to also inspire crimes as well. Last few movies which have not done well like Zero and to some extent Dunki is a prime example where people dont want to see him as a "chokra" doing slightly slapstick kind of role. Srk in the last part of the speech where he mentioned that his family deserves the biggest cheer probably is the only moment I have seen him being so emotional in a public setting apart from the time he was talking about his parents on Simi Grewal's show..Shah Rukh Khan is not just an actor,he is a phenomena..When he is in his bad phase,we feel it..When he celebrates,we rejoice...Somehow,it feels like he is one of us❤ And the collaborations I wanna see are 1.Gauri Shinde again 2.Sriram Raghavan 3.Mani Ratnam 4.Vikramaditya Montwane And regarding the status Srk has reached both coz of age and experience,he should not do morally grey characters because he is now not just an actor,he is a role model and a representative of our country.New age actors have a long way to go to enter the leagues of Khans or Akshay.

He fought 100 of men alone after asking his cousins to stop and sing... he had several injuries and was dying but acted normally.. Because his biggest fear was losing his father ... And seeing his the lerson he loves the most, dying because of cancer helplessly was an apt ending punishment for him.

My two cents on SRK's negative roles: I think the genre or tonality of Don is different from that of other movies like Darr and Baazigar where he's played a negative character. Those movies are dramas/thriller that is centred around a few characters and a stand-alone story, with high emotional stakes and so on. Characters in these movies are (supposedly) realistic - as much as they could be within Indian cinema, I mean. So here, it's sort of more important to see the bad guys punished, or if they win, it should be devastating and not celebrated within the world of the movie (unless it's a sattire, but none of these are). Don, on the other hand, is like a comic book franchise - no one walks into the theatre expecting it to reflect our lives or even the world we live in. It's like a fantasy and we just want style and mass and see the adventures of some character - could be a superhero or a good guy (as it most often is), or a charming, charismatic bad guy (like Don). So I don't think there's amy hypocrisy on SRK's part here (but as you pointed out, even if there was, this is SRK of 2024 - the last Don movie came out in 2011 and people evolve with time).

that was the biggest thing I was always thinking, many reviewers such as @menofculture thought that srk will never do a movie with vanga because the way he has been portraying his characters. But in my mind the thought was always there that in baazigar, even though he dies still kajol's character sympathises for him. In darr too, it would have been impossible for sunny deol's character to come swimming, in a cyclone, to save his wife on the boat. Darr used a plot armor to save jnhi's character and that was what felt a bit forced that the villian could have won in this movie. In don and don2, the main character finally is shown a winning properly. Also, don, everyone's favourite character, who were criticising Ranveer singh for becoming the next "Don", was just because everyone love don.

He is absolutely right! Movies that portray negative consequences for the protagonist can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, they emphasize the real-life repercussions of poor choices or immoral actions, sending a cautionary message about the importance of ethical behavior. However, when these negative outcomes are glorified and stylized, there's a risk that the intended lesson gets lost in the allure of the cinematic presentation. The danger lies in the potential for the youth to romanticize the rebellious or anti-heroic behavior, overlooking the underlying message about accountability. It's crucial for filmmakers to strike a balance, ensuring that the narrative serves as a powerful reminder rather than inadvertently glamorizing actions that may lead to adverse consequences in reality.

I think more than SRK changing his stance on what film stands for, he has just come to the natural realisation that he has become a larger than life persona at this point, SRK the person is so influential and so powerful that he has the power to influence millions. Whether you like it or not, a significantly large part of our population still sees films and certain actors as gods and will follow them. And I think SRK understand that he more than anyone else will be the one that gets followed and worshipped the most, which is probably why he wants to do morally good roles. Simply because he understands his influence and wants to be responsible. Surely, that limits his creativity but maybe he's giving more priority to the 'with great power comes great responsibility' type mindset and maybe will exercise his creativity in his producing ventures instead.

Would love to See SRK collaborate with Karthik Subbaraj, Mani Sir and Kamal Sir. All these dudes are cinephiles. Fantastic and honest speech. Ever so inspiring and articulate is SRK. In my view no jibes at Animal - these are just SRK's views. Not everything we believe relates to current trending matters. However what was direct was his view on analysts and critics. This actually echoes The SRV because truth be told...SRK and all these artistes are the reason Critics and YTbers have a stream of income.

Well in my opinion the impact of movies now is way more than just fashion trends and I'm sure he witnessed it over the years. Social media now let's anyone reach the audience... So naturally to get noticed a lot of fans do things that they watch in the movies. And it is more important now to give clear messages because even though the world is evolving IQ of most aren't. Hence being mindful of what morals you are communicating through movies is such a crucial point to be careful about.

3 Directors: 1. Sanjay Leela Bhansali: Devdas was one of the best SRK movies of all time, it has been etched in the history of the INDIAN film industry. A reunion between the two would be interesting. 2. Sandeep Reddy Vanga: I know, I know, controversial but I wanna see him play a villain or anti-hero in an SRV movie, similar to his role in Darr, Duplicate, and Bazigaar. 3. Anurag Kashyap: While his aura is such that Anurag's screenplay writing of almost a Western would be somewhat crazy I wanna see him in a true Anurag Kashyap-style movie. Another name, I know, would never happen is Quentin Tarantino. I want to see him in a Hollywood Western with or opposite Christopher Waltz, and Samuel L. Jackson. Michael Madsen, Tim Roth, and Leo Caprio.

There's a lot of hate and aggression in the world the last thing we need is to glorify it.

If these were released 5-6 years ago when srk was having a bad run, they would had done mid business. If srk does more movies like jawaan and pathaan back to back they will probably bomb. He too needs to do something diff now

I think in the eyes of media and politics, the form of artistry changed for SRK in a way we couldn't have probably imagined. SRK's name goes through mud every single time, and technically we've noticed that in the last three movies he's done were all nationalistic and patriotic characters he was portraying. I could be overthinking this, but based on the change of his tone in interviews and film selections, he's trying so hard to prove to the nay sayers, but as a result it limited him as an artist.
