Televangelists along with all the "legitimate" clergyman around the world owe their success to the gullibility of the ignorant, superstitious death fearing people, which includes the vast majority of humanity. These snake oil peddlers have exploited and capitalized on these "sheeples" paralyzing fear of death for thousands of years and there is no end in sight to this disgusting situation. Fortunately, in most localities, and with each succeeding generation, more and more young people are being educated and are casting off the the bondage of religion that had been forced upon them by their elders. Hopefully, in time, all the snake oil peddlers (clergymen) around the world will be seeking employment elsewhere as they begin to feel the financial drain resulting from their ever dwindling congregations.

I’ve seen some of his sermons. He often equates financial wealth to spiritual blessings. As if God bestows his blessings via financial gain. He takes scripture out of context to support this idea. It’s all about public image and his brand to him. I doubt he knows Christ at all. It’s just an industry to him.

I went to Lakewood a couple weeks ago, and he preaches the bible. Never did he ask for money. I learned that he doesn't take any of the offering, but lives off book sales. People who talk against him are just jealous or have never been to his church.

Good point. He's more of a psychologist than a preacher. I have never heard him quote scripture. Has anybody???He just didn't want to get his precious carpeting wet. If you wanted to help me during the flood; then you wouldn't need to ask anyone. You are the boss Joel! Do something for the Lord now and again. Have a homeless ministry. Feed the hungry. When LA flooded last year.. Most of the churches in the dryer areas did open up as shelters. My church is an old Walmart. It's massive and they opened up as a shelter and also as a temporary fema office for them to start their fema claims.

I always thought Joel osteen was very suspicious he has a watered down gospel and he isn't a pastor he's a business man that's all he is.

My take on Joel Osteen is that when you were a child, you had two types of friends: one who wanted to be your friend and one who wanted to play with your toys. Joel Osteen is the latter.

With this thinking you open the flood gates to anyone saying anything. You are misinformed. The Bible tells us to be watchful and judge with sober judgement what a man says. The standard we are to use is God's word not our own thoughts. Joel has never preached God's word. He uses God's word to support his messages. Simply reading the Bible would tell you this.

the shady side of joel osteen in only 6 and half minutes???? No way. Maybe 6 and half YEARS.

He’s also never had a truly hard time in his life. I know his dad died of cancer & his mom survived cancer, but that’s it. He’s clueless about people having to decide to buy food or medicine or pay the electric bill. He’s got that painted on smile just like Robert Tilton & a few others!! I’d sure like to hear the conversation between them & Jesus at the pearly gates 🤣🤣

Nicki Swift I live in Houston, and I wasn't affected by Harvey, but I already never liked Joel in the first place. I never have, and I never will like him. I feel like Joel Osteen was supporting University of Texas with his son. The people just wanted attention. I'm atheist, but I am a huge University of Texas fan. My mom went there, and my mom's side of the family are huge University of Texas fans. A lot of people take a picture of their school hang gesture, and post it on Facebook. It's normal. The people only wanted attention. That's the only thing I'm protecting Joel Osteen from. I still hate him with a strong passion though.

Joel Osteen is a fake all he wants is your money.

All I've got to say is to be wise in all things and be careful who you follow and financially support. Be one step ahead of people like Joel (and a million others like him) and don't allow this kind of negative feedback weaken your faith in the Lord because we're not to follow man anyway........ We're to follow Christ. These so-called pastors / preachers / evangelists or even "motivated speakers" we'll have to face the piper someday and I really wouldn't want to be in their shoes come that hour. That moment. That appointed time. What they honestly need right now is true salvation.

The calf grew up from Exodus and is now a bull. It represents schools, companies and restaurants and no body notices!

I never did like him. He seems fake. Stay healthy everyone we will make it through this together.

David Urban I’m only 14 and when I was 12 , I used to smoke and drink and all those stuffs and my mom told me to watch his preachings and long story short I still watch them but I finished them so I listen to others and it pretty much changed my life. I see my bad habits went away and my enemies suffer and God saw u comment this but I pray that he has mercy on you because we as children of God are powerful.

@@samiryahya6491 How ignorant though art. It is not that you are to be poor but that you are not given to (addicted to) filthy lucre (money) if you are a bishop (clergyman) according to scripture. That means not hoarding money which is the sin of covetousness which Paul said was the root of all evil. (I Timothy 6:10) Paul even gave a commandment in that same chapter to not covet wealth and to keep that instruction to the letter until the return of Christ. Try reading what Paul wrote to Pastor Timothy in I Timothy 6:5-21. Now just using common sense how can one love his neighbor as himself when he lives in a ten million dollar mansion and has multi millions heaped up to himself, while his neighbor defined by Christ as one in need goes without due to lack of food, clean water, war etc. It is apparent that one whom heaps multi millions up to himself puts his trust in the here and now and not the hereafter. Jesus said woe to the rich for they have received their consolation meaning they were comforted in and of the material world and likely will not be comforted afterward/no heaven. He also said beware of covetousness (wealth/money/material possession hoarding) for a man's life consist not in the abundance of his possessions. He said it was harder for a rich man to enter heaven than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, but all things are possible with God meaning if you do as a rich man is suppose to do in Christ by being liberally charitable and not covetous/greedy as instructed by Paul in I Timothy 6:17-19 it is therein not your wealth that you trust in but it becomes evident that you trust in God doing what a wealthy convert is suppose to do in the Christian faith. Ten million dollar houses and heaped up millions are evidence that you do not trust in God but put your trust in uncertain riches (it is certain riches can not buy your way in). Now a question for you. Did you ever think about studying scripture instead of being indoctrinated by charlatans teaching the lie of giving Old Testament tithes and offerings in order to reap wealth? That is a get rich pyramid scheme not Christian doctrine. Paul said those who suppose or conjure up that godliness is gain or that you serve God for the purpose of material gain including giving have perverted the word to dispute the truth, are corrupt and destitute of the truth and to depart from them. Pastors like Olstein who preach the so called material prosperity doctrine have taken scriptures out of context to pervert the truth. Those who teach church tithing are apostates (teaching outside the teachings of the N.T. apostles). Not one scripture instructs the Christians to pay tithes and there is not one recording of the original churches receiving tithes. Tithing is giving according to religious/Mosaic law that Christ annulled, and not due to conviction of the heart through faith/free will offerings expecting nothing material in return but only expecting spiritual rewards such as increased faith and gifts of the Spirit with eternal life. The only material thing offered is that your needs not your greed would be met to all sufficiency. Paul makes it perfectly clear that food and clothing is all one needs in faith and if that is all you receive be content therein. Hebrews 7:5,16,18 and scriptures in between make it perfectly clear that tithing was an O.T. Levitical law designated only to the Levite priest which preceded Christianity and was annulled, as Jesus was not of the tribe of Levite and came not after (not doctrinal formed according to) a carnal (temporary) commandment (tithing) but of an everlasting life. When the number one obstacle of religion is to enrich the institutions and ministers as much as possible then religion becomes compromised and perverted. The perversion is made evident by the lifestyles of ministers who teach these lies for profit. Their greedy covetous lifestyles define their faith, which is anti Christ.

He will have to answer to a higher power sooner or later!

I think you are talking about campmeeting. Those people give me the creepy crawlies but Osteen pays taxes on the sale of his books. The only tax a church is exempt from is income, they still have to pay taxes on everything they buy, payroll. They still have to pay for insurance.

It therefore did not surprise me when he shut his doors to the people who were suffering from the hurricane. In his own defense of that, he changed his story three times - a sign that he was, most likely, lying.

i REMEMBER WHEN i WAS A YOUNG KID, MY MOTHER WATCHING THIS PREACHER ON TV, THEY BRING A GUY WITH CRUTCHES UP ON STAGE SO THE PREACHER COULD HEAL HIM, THE PREACHER PUT HIS HAND ON THE GUYS HEAD AND SAID A PRAYER & THEN SAID YOU ARE HEALED, & THE GUY THANKED HIM & WALKED OFF THE STAGE WITHOUT THE CRUTCHES, my MOTHER SAID, SEE GOD IS REAL! i SAID THAT WAS JUST A SCAM & MY MOTHERS REPLY WAS " YOU ARE GOING TO HELL IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE", i SAID THAT PREACHER WILL BE THERE WITH ME THEN BECAUSE HE HAS NO POWER TO HEAL ANYONE! NEXT WEEK THE NEWS PEOPLE WAS IN TOUCH WITH THE GUY THAT WAS HEALED AND IT WAS ALL A SCAM, THE PREACHER PAID HIM TO DO IT.

I've honestly never heard him say anything negative about anyone. He is a great speaker. His words inspire me to do better for myself and I'm ok with him being rich while doing it. I don't contribute so easy for me to say but I accept him fully as a motivational speaker.

Lakewood Church in Houston, has come under fire in recent days after Houston Chronicle reported that the megachurch received $4.4 million in PPP loans from the Small Business Administration (SBA).

How about the plumber finding $170,000 in the restroom wall. What's up with that Osteen?

The hardest thing about being in the public light, is not being in the public light. Joel Osteen is a great speaker, he gives people hope and on several occasion admitted that he has no formal training. (same way like Jesus) People whose dislikes Mr. Osteen are in some form jealous of his overwhelming success... No person can preach you into or out of heaven, it's your choice, so don't put your personal lack of faith on Mr. Osteen or any other. God bless those who believes and not those which judges others through his name.

Christ also never owned one thing & He gave it all away when ppl tried to give to him. I've listen to Joel Osteen I really don't think there's anything he says that bad I just answered will not draw don't go around bashing everybody that's nothing wrong with that he's always put a smile on my face and lifted me I read his book the best your best life now come on figure out something else to do afternoon Joel Osteen I believe in a harder approach to Christianity such as Shepherd's Chapel but I'm not going to put down Joel Osteen because he's got a smile on his face and everything happy so he's got a multi-million-dollar home and drives race cars who cares I think he deserves it he works his butt off and transforms a lot of people's lives blessings to everybody

I don't trust someone that smiles that much.
