I really appreciate you covering my mod, and giving some really inciteful feedback! This mod was a bit of a change of pace for me, and I tried to do something different than my other quests, favouring a larger and grander narrative so it does kinda suffer from a lack of experience with these large quests. However, I do think you missed some of the actual consequences for the ending you chose, I'll get a bit meta here, so spoilers ahead. So scattered across Skyrim, there are four separate Serpent camps, each featuring a uniquely designed area, with NPCs who have individual schedules. When choosing the ending, so either sparing or killing him, these camps will be directly affected. If you kill him, after two weeks of in-game time, the guild will fall apart, and all the camps will be either abandoned, or their members will be killed. This comes in the form of their members being seen butchered, or their camps now bare of loot and any life. The opposite goes for sparing him, the main one being Alric and Alexia being killed by the Serpents. On the border to Cyrodiil, you can find their corpses surrounded by dead Serpents, as they were killed when attempting to cross into Cyrodiil. Some other consequences are the camps growing in members, and their loot growing in kind, emphasising the effect that Motesh has on the guild. This ending also triggers some new-world encounters to spawn, like ransacked caravans and dead nobles on the roadside. Overall, I enjoyed your review, and appreciate the criticism. Most of my quests are completely narrative-driven, so I can understand why it may not appeal to some people. I have no issue with that, and I'm just glad you gave the mod the time of day. If I were to go back and make it again, certain features like adding an idea of where to go next would definitely be added, and I'd likely change the dialogue of Alexia to not feature this Shakespearean English. So while it does have its issues, I'm still happy with the overall mod, and I'm very happy to see you cover another one of my quests. Thank you for the time you spent producing the video, and for the concise and interesting review!

I was NOT expecting to see this pop up in my feed, but I'm so excited you've covered it!! Alexia was a dream to play and get back to my roots as a Shakespearean actor, and Circuit & Robo absolutely knocked their roles out the park. I wish more mod authors would swing for interesting dialogue styles these days tbh Wonder if you'll check out some of Nim's other mods too, they're all nicely self-contained and have some great moments :) Much love, mate

Thou hast given thine self over wholly to that most pretentious of delusions, an erstwhile belief in the perception of base humor as being kin unto wisdom. Instead of giving quest markers, it should have let you follow them with Serpents along the way. Neither could be killed, and you dying would not reset their path. Having the Serpents randomly fight you later would have been nice, the two being dead near the house later could have worked, and you were right about the third option. Still, the true value of an idea like this could only exist if Skyrim natively allowed for multiple factions in the game. Relying on other mods for that just breaks things. As for her accent, no one in the comments even thought that she might be from the pre-Warp timeline. It would explain why she knew only violence, too.

Intriguing quest mod from the looks of it. I see it requires BEES though. While that is not necessarily a bad thing, I cannot use the backported ESL on my Skyrim VR, or it nullifies all my save games. I am so far into my timeline (year 203) that the absolute worst thing I can do is install any mod that will have me starting all over in year 201 back in Helgen. So I watch this through your eyes, and thank you for showcasing it!

Overall the idea is a cool concept. I like the moral ambiguity in some aspects, but unless I just somehow missed it, the fact we cant even bring up the fact to Motesh about killing the very people he is supposedly working to uplift with his raids on caravans, ships, ect feels like its kinda missing the point twords the very end. It also ends up making Alric and Alexia look kinda dumb for being so shook up after talking with him, given the harming of innocents was the big reason both tried to look for a "peaceful" option. It was building up into some really good idealism vrs reality but failed to stick the landing by falling flat with "im cursed but also it dint work for me so screw it". Maybe its just asking too much from an obviously small scale mod, but as it is currently, Motesh feels like he would work WAY better with a heeping dose of Machiavellianism rather then this "its for everyones good guys I sware" backwards morality.

I am going to be honest here, I LOVE Shakespeare poetry. It is one of the most profound literature I can consume. But as a gamer, not so much. I never played Elden Ring, so in my lense, Shakespeare in Skyrim is a little out of place unless, the characters are Breton in origin. I feel that this mod is designed for a High Rock High Fantasy style gameplay best placed in a Beyond Skyrim Expansion. Because talking like that to a barbarian Nord Dragonborn, he's going to ask to speak Barbarian.

Trying to figure out why she speaks like that. Dost thou wear thy mother's drapes? I mean the dialogue can do what you like, but technically, everyone is speaking Tamrielic, and it's translated to English. So why not translate it to contemporary English? That's always been my feeling on fantasy using Middle English. It may be Souls-inspired.

Played this mod the other day, didn't really enjoy it. Personally, the Shakespearean English was just annoying, and the characters were a bit too emotional over the whole thing, especially in the last encounter. I also couldn't understand why Alric (who is supposed to be a common person) had a vocabulary rivalling the bards in Solitude. Also, I ran into a few issues where the NPCs were not appearing in the next location unless I fast travelled back and forth a few times. Overall, after all the great reviews I had heard, I just found the quest boring. On a side note, Motesh is GREAT. He fits perfectly into Skyrim, and his character writing is great (apart from the whole serpent sign thing - kinda goes against the pre-existing lore).

No one talks like Alexia in the world of Elder Scrolls. Why does she talk like this? And then you have Alric that has much more natural sounding dialogue for the setting. It might seem like a small thing but such a jarring contrast in speech requires some level of justification.

  • @urbanexotic

I love Nimwraith's stuff, but this was a big a miss for me. I found Alexia's language very offputting. The VA is very good, as are Alric and Motesh's VAs, but the dialogue itself was incredibly stilted and weird for Skyrim. And as someone else pointed out, for a salt of the earth fellow, Alric's dialogue is just too articulate and aristocratic. Motesh's dialogue was pretty good, though. I'd have liked a bit more info on what being born under the sign of the Serpent actually did to make his life so miserable. I guess we're just supposed to know? ...and she never does tell us why she's got such a love for violence. I don't know. This one just didn't work for me.
