Haven' t commented on here for a number of years but just want to say thanks to Rich for keeping the music of perhaps the most beautiful sounding band in the world alive. It is impossible for me to say how much I feel about the sound of The Seekers and in particular the voice of Judith Durham. I was about 11 or so (born 1953), when The Seekers first made their appearance on British radio, and I have been intoxicated with their music ever since. I always wanted to marry a Judith Durham type woman, never happened, got Cruella de Vil instead, !!.. Imagine just waking up to "Mornin Town Ride" every morning sung by by Judith herself. There is something about this lady that defies normal emotional behaviour from a 67 year old, but that's me. When I die I want to hear Judith singing to me as I pass from this world into the next. God bless you Judith and The Seekers, you have made a silly old git happy for over 60 years.

A voice so pure, so soaring, so beautiful it brings tears . . . and in every song they've rationed her solos so carefully you can never quite get enough . . . Gladys Knight's is incredibly expressive and for years I'd thought her voice was the finest I'd heard until I started listening to the Seekers again . . . I'd forgotten how special Judith Durham's singing was/is, and how powerfully uplifting it can be. My opinion only of course.

Gladys Knight is good and I agree with Mr Hogg. But Judith is in another league. If you want a voice that is close to a relegation position go no further than Diana Ross. Thin and reedy doesn't do it justice. The costumes try hard to put you off the lack of power in her delivery

Not only does this lady Judith Durham have the purest, most beautiful voice I have ever heard in my life but her talent for singing is also unmatched by anyone. As many other people have said her singing touches the heart and soul like no other. Those three lads that make up The Seekers are excellent musicians in their own right but Judith’s singing is just so wonderful that she seems to me to be divine. A gift from god!.

I fully agree with you. Judith is like a dream come true, a vision from an upper state of being. When she stares and sings I feel my senses overpowered. At the same time, there is a strange lack of sensual appeal in her extreme beauty which is also amazing. She is unique.

We have heard great female pop singers with powerful and beautiful voices, such as Linda Ronstadt, Agnetha Faltskog (Abba), Karen Carpenter, Ann Wilson (Heart), Carole King, Olivia Newton-John, and others. But no one seems to be able to do what Judith Durham was able to do with her vocal power, pitch, purity, poise, resonance, range, emotion, grace, gentleness, simplicity, effortless delivery, transcendent, heavenly sublime tonal quality, and overall luminous stage presence. Judith left her listeners awestruck with every performance. The angelic wings of her voice allowed the audience to soar with her to the deepest blue of heaven's skies. Truly missed, inimitable, and irreplaceable.

I love many artists and groups from old Motown, medium rock, some soft rock, some folk, some disco, some country, some Gospel, some pop, notice I left out rap, but The Seekers are and will remain my all time, absolute favorite group. This is me, from the US, where I only heard the four songs that played here and never saw them, even in a picture, or new there names, at the time. Great, unique harmony, from Judith and the boys, but Judith has the most mesmerizing, charming, home feeling, if you will, voice I have ever heard. Everybody else, I have heard cover it, makes a mess out of Georgie Girl.

Evidently it was there the first time they sang. They had had a good sound withe originals but when she sang it was like the perfect piece.

Many have tried to characterize Judith's voice, including myself. The description from rabele123 is wonderful. The qualities of her voice are difficult to put into words. It seems that all her vocals are very resonant and have a ringing /chiming quality. I've never heard better.

I think you are right about Judith´s voice. For instance, she easily sings beautifully with no instrumental support. It seems her voice is so rich in harmonics around every note that it sounds like a precious string instrument, more or less like a violin solo.

The chorus of this song gives me goosebumps; Judith's voice stirs the romantic part of my heart and soul. I may not be a rich man, but had the good Lord blessed me with Judith, I would surely have hoped that we would have be blessed us with children also. But, I trust in this case, HE knew exactly road Judith was to travel, bringing good news, inspiration, encouragement, and joy to the ears, heart, and soul of those who were and are fortunate enough to hear her melodius angelic voice and see that wonderful smile on her face. She owns every note and every word that flows deep from her heart. If she can't put a song in your heart, and tune you will whistle, hum, or sing afterward, then some soul searching may be needed. Thank God for blessing this world with Judith, and the Seekers.

Yep, her voice was crystal clear, and her wonderful diction, helped too. To quote Kasey Kasem, "There isn't a voice anywhere as clear as Judith Durham...you know by her first couple of notes when it is a Seekers song coming on" High praise from one of the US's greatest DJs.

The reasons for Judith's attraction is all in her honesty. She's not up there in a PVC 2 piece like Miley Circus, she's there with her hair like a winter willow, she's dressed to the toe in refulgent silk, she isn't afraid to show those teeth when smiling, & even her body language tells us "Enjoy yourselves" - The way she sways & swings on stage like a celestial bell. She's 1 in 100 billion. Maybe 1 is born every 100 years? If that? We are truly lucky to witness magic like this over & over.
