24:50 I know of a spot with shale exactly like that in a stream bed! AND, it's PERPENDICULAR to the water flow! >_____> Uhm, I gotta go now. I have some... laundry. yeah. *grabs his pan and rushes to the stream!*
I flipped back my very first gold reveal in my very first pan during my very first Panning session tonight! I’m so stoked! It’s much harder than it looks, but I’m slowly learning. Lol… I’ll get the hang of it soon enough. Apartment gold panning…what a world. 😂😂😂
Today my 8 yr old daughter accompanied me on the first prospecting trip of the year on Prince of Wales Island AK. We had a camp fire and a picnic, so much fun!
I know you have viewers of all kinds, thru the spectrum of experience level. But I was new to gold panning when I found you, and your stuff like this is really excellent in the KZread of people doing this you are tops. I like Gary at Two Toes, also, but because you taught this in a high school, you know how to present it educationally. Very well done.

Well said. Dan was the very first KZread video I watched. I was hooked from the start by his smile and how he explained things so that someone like me readily understood. I went back and watched everything he had posted. I particularly loved him teaching the students how to make a classifier, dredge, etc. If I was not disabled, I would have ordered a pan and hit a local creek right then! He is genuine with a big heart 💕
Really great information Dan, and I had fun coming along, thank you!
What a cool guy

I love the Dan Hurd school of prospecting, Thanks Dan!!
Good hints. I'm a newbie, so this was great info. Thank you , Mr. Hurd
great one dan. always glad to see you down here in the states. thank you so much for the education. have a blessed day my friend.
Great video Dan
I was there in Jan. '23, even a California "Mother Lode" resident really enjoyed the people, the mine, the grounds, the tour, and the presentation in the auditorium. We should have brought a picnic lunch, however.
Thank you Dan, that's another great lesson in observation. I'm probably not the only one, but I'd have lived to see just one pan from one of the honey pots you pointed out. I'm sure the next video will satisfy 🥰
Thank you sir, what a great opportunity to learn!
I like the different kind of video today. Relaxing and very informative for a wanna be prospector like myself.
Highly informative and educational! With the transcript and some screenshots, this would make a great book! I'm saving this episode to my Gold Prospecting playlist. It's a keeper! 😎👍🏻 ⛏️💰
Finally! ive been waiting for something like this.
Thank you for the video. Lots of information. I live in Australia but the information you have shared would be useful almost world wide.
Nice series! Love the traveling adventures.
13:35 since you hate spiders I bet you didn't see that one... Almost got you.
Another great adventure on the old mine site. history and panning always an experince and with minimal damage to the enviroment while doing so
Great vid mate, good reminder for us all when we are on our creeks. Seasoned or newbies alike.
I finally subscribed! I’ve watched so many of your videos I feel guilty. I feel like I owe you money! Very educational and never boring

Just wait until Dan restarts his premieres every Sunday morning again. We all call ourselves "the Hurd Herd." Hundreds of people log in just to watch the video (not live), and chat live with each other. It is awesome! He just needed a break right now (which I would have told him to slow down myself). Just look at all his posts and hope to see you there when he does them again.
Dan is the Man!
G'Day Dan, Thank you very much for showing us in detail where to search for Gold hot spots in a dry creek. The creeks I prospect here in West Oz are dry in Summer, your video has helped me understand more of where the Gold has dropped out in a creek. Thank you & Merry Christmas🎄 Cheers Kev
Dan is and always has been THE MAN 😎
Fungi 😂😂😂 that was by far the funniest Dad joke I’ve ever heard Dan, then you’re comment afterwards was the cherry on top 😂

Love this instructional video! More please.
Some very good points made here Dan! I'll have to try and put some of these ideas to work now that I'm down in Australia. I feel like I'll have to completely rethink how to find the local gold!
It's truly unbelievable how much gold you find!
The best vlog I have seen of yours so far ..

Big HELLO from Wilmington, NC!
Your energy is awesome, & thank you for the info!
Thanks for the walk Dan!
This video was like a geography class but more exciting!!! Thank you!!!
Love Reed Gold Mine. I grew up about 30 minutes away and we would visit several times a year
Wow amazing video mining about gold treasure
You said it Dan 10:30 I live in Shasta county of Northern California and I got a creek that dries out every summer. I generally find an 1/8 gram to.5 gram per pan. I plan on taking my gerret ace 200 out there this summer, it's got to be loaded. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Hey Dan, how do you expect me to sit still and not scream at each of the potential gold laden areas? I'll be honest: I couldn't do it. Even I was pointing out places right before you mentioned them. I wish I wasn't disabled so that I could buy a pan and just enjoy the quest (no gold around here). However, the quiet, peaceful beauty of the site would be good enough for me to enjoy. That is some amazing history. I was laughing when you said "fun guy." Tee hee! 😂 But you missed the other name, "fun Gus." Hee hee! You made my day! 😁 I'm so glad that you're enjoying life and more relaxed than usual. I pray for you and your family all the time. Your overall health dictates what you can and can't do in life. For me it's my back, hip and leg. Everything I do revolves around that. That is why I live vicariously through you! 🤩 Thank you so much for all you have shared and will share. You are a great person and educator, with a big heart! Tell everyone I said hello and send hugs and blessings from Alabama ❤️
Thanks. I will look it up.
Really great video, as are all of your videos. 💯
Love your videos
Thank you sir for the pointers! Wish i could do what you do lol. Im just not in a good area.

I'm working on a river where the gold starts from 50-60 sm and deeper and it amazes me how you find gold in the first layers of the material (Frazer River) It is really hard to get to the golden material here trust me :D But thanks god the river is 20 km from my house so, it's kinda easy to get to it when i got the money and time for that ofcourse. Thank you Dan! I wish more people were like you those days... People forgot who they are, and what they are capable of ... They forgot to be good and helping ! Thanks god for letting you existing in this world so we can learn from you. I pray to god to give me the oportunitys to meet you one day. First thing i'm gonna do is to Bow at you ! Hope you see this comment and just make you smile :) hope you have alot of gold in your pocket and happiness in your hearth. (I wish Frazer River was in my country lol :D gonna make a cabin next to it for sure :D ) 😊

Oh Dan: As always. I enjoy your videos. But I haven't tried looking for Gold. It sure looks exciting. As I note your reaction. Or are you just that lucky one. Regards South Africa 🇿🇦.

Cool, just catching up. I’ve just come to Ballarat in Victoria Australia. It’s the base of the golden triangle where over the last 150 years they have recovered 2.5 million kg ( yes kg) of alluvial and deep lead gold. All hints welcome…lol. For a start I found a large piece of opal. Keep looking though lots of very dirty mineralised quartz
At 11:35 That's one helluva Spider chasing Dan! XD
thanks for review❤
Greetings from the BIG SKY.
🙂 Thanks Dan. I live e in western N.C. In Pisgah Forest, right nextt to Pisgah National Forest. One of the 5 hational Forest Parks that go across North Carolina. I really love your show for a while now. Happy Ho;idays!

Good day!
You're a great teacher Dan. I really love the instructional videos just as much as watching you find the gold!
Hey! Dan's down in my neck of the woods! Well, closer than BC anyway.
13:40 big spider. Cool
I like to say gold is where no one else has found it. I've found some of My best gold in places that break the rules. Like, on the out side of corners, sitting on smooth bedrock, or in front of a boulder. Just look where no one else has thought to look, especially in a well mined area.
Dry creak is great for a metal detector!
BUT Dan, I'm glad your having fun down here!! Come out to California and I'll show some real gold!!
Would love to see a few where you do spots that are unlikely and show whether they work or not
Hiking near the gorges state park area this weekend can’t wait! Thanks Dan for the video any advice from anyone on find gold and or sapphire in North Carolina gorges area?!?!
Thank you!!!!!
The west coast of Canada is nice and all but those deciduous forests sure look magical
Dan. I wish I would’ve known you were here I would’ve loved to have met you. I live less than 10 miles from that creek
