    This idea applies even at low levels. I made it to high diamond without even be able to aerial. When I finally learned aerial reliably, I dropped a lot of MMR because I felt the need to go on the air all the time. It took me time to learn when to/when not to before I finally broke through to champ.

    Awesome vid. I always think about it like this... you have to be solid at the fundamentals and the quick pops/flicks in order to EARN the respect of your opponents, which causes them to back off more, in turn allowing you to do more slow setup mechanical plays. If you ever watch people higher level than you and think "wtf, they're giving him so much space... if it was me they would have monkey challenged me already" that is why.

  • @CometWarriorYT

    @CometWarriorYT

    5 ай бұрын

    I agree in a sense, but I'm not sure if respect is the right word below SSL, more you have to scare your opponent so they won't challenge you knowing you can do anything with the ball. Diamonds and Champs and even lower GCs aren't scary, your opponents won't be scared to challenge you. You have to work on your arsenal of mechanics so you're not easy to read. Past that they'll instead wait back and shadow hoping they find an inconsistency in your setup. Your breakdown is technically correct, specifically above/around 2k mmr.

    this was a great refresh for my mental in the game. most of this is or should be considered common sense, but it’s the little things. you point out the small things that a lot of people overlook constantly and all the “small” mistakes get turned into goals by the enemy team in higher ranks. thanks for the upload, this was needed.

    I did peripherals training at my mechanical peak and it helped me immensely. However, not sure if this mentioned in the video but an extra tip is look at the ball, car, scan for boosts and sometimes try to avoid the worst possible scenario by predicting it, let us say you got a flip reset you can aim to score or you could on purpose to not score cause maybe you suspect it will be saved and get punished by a counter attack so utilize the threat of shooting and go for a bump/demo, fake, steal boost, force them to react to a weird shot, 50/50.

    this video is awesome i have the right mentality every time i get dunked but i think where i go wrong is that i think i am just too slow and i am fairly inconsistent like 60% success rate through resets but the only time i go for resets is when i have way too much time and space and because it looks flashy but usual just air dribbles / double taps but i just feel like ingame i have to much pressure and kindof lose a lot of that consistency but i dont know, anyway amazing video

    was hardstuck c2 for what feels like a year since i started really trying to improve my mechanics (i practice only in queue training mode) and once i stopped focusing all my energy to using them in game, i got straight to mid-high champ 3 comfortably. goes to show how much you hurt yourself by trying to force mechanics into your gameplay. even if you end up not doing it, when its on your mind so actively, it can slow your gameplay down a lot

    my problem is that im trying to learn how to be mechanical not the gamesense part of mechanics... like i have quite literaly no mechs other than dribbling and shooting - im missing flicks, air dribble somehow. Yet i can preflip the balls of any surface to speed the tempo up and am gc which comes in 90% from gamesense. Grinding mechanics for more than half a year yet stuck at same level of mech. And my mechanical level can screw me up so much that im literaly able to miss the easiest ball in air u could think of (like wtf is this)

    I don't think there is a secret, mechs just come with time put in the game , I am almost at 1000 hour and I just recently started being much more mechy somehow , the only thing I changed is that I do freeplays now where I try to practice specific things like 20 min flicks , then 20 min double taps , 20 min air dribbles and flip resets or just simply speedflip etc , if I would compare my current self to how I played like 200 hours ago it is a totally different level , freeplay is the best practice imo

    I was wondering why It felt like I kept getting worse the more mechanics I tried to learn, and I think this video hit the nail. Like 2 weeks ago I reached diamond and I was even able to carry my games up to at least diamond 2 in 2v2s (that's how far I got before I felt like I had to learn more mechanics since other people started doing fancier stuff) but recently I've been rage queuing my way down to platinum 3 even. This got me in a terrible mood as it felt like I just suddenly became garbage at the game, since I never even demoted from diamond after I got the rank, until now. This video explains why it suddenly felt so hard to play against plat players compared to diamond ones, since they always just challenge everything, thus when I went for these more mechanical plays that inevitably takes longer to set up, they just got repossession of the ball again. I think I need to actually learn more fundamentals instead of training fancy mechanics such as air dribbles and flicks since very often I find myself failing simple dribbles and challenges which just makes me give possession of the ball to the opposing team. Doesn't matter if I can do flip resets if I can't get the ball in the air in the first place right? Anyways, this video was very helpful in me realizing this; thank you!

  • @kawfeeYT

    @kawfeeYT

    Yeah the learning new mechanics and getting worse thing is definitely a thing, continue practicing mechs as well as fundamentals, but only use them once you know you can consistently, or in situations where it won’t be terrible if you fail.
