The Secrets of London's Bridges (Travel History Documentary) | TRACKS
Dan Cruickshank explores the mysteries and secrets of the bridges that have made London what it is. He uncovers stories of Bronze-Age relics emerging from the Vauxhall shore, of why London Bridge was falling down, of midnight corpses splashing beneath Waterloo Bridge, and above all, of the sublime ambition of London's bridge builders themselves.

One of the most passionate historians ever.
I've truly enjoyed this show. I'm an American 67 years old and I've always enjoyed history.
This fellow is my favorite narrator ever. His love of history and design and architecture and the emotions they can evoke is inspiring and compelling. What a treat this documentary is. In this posting, there were no commercials.
Fantastic piece of information for us tourist of London ❤

Is anybody else warching this after reading Ken Follet's World Wothout End?
hi folks, Im looking for the information or resources about the warranty period of Tower Bridge (about any defects must be fixed by the builder and replace by the contractor). Please help !
I'm surprised that he didn't mention the great stink of the thames in 1858, as it was a dumping ground for the victorians to throw in their sewage the river became toxic and the smell was utterly unbearable and caused several cholera outbreaks. Even with all the windows shut and incense burned in parliament it became almost impossible for anyone to work or live near the river. It was through an act of desperation that parliament had to do something about it and that task fell on the shoulders of Joseph Bazalgette.

If you use the Closed Captions for reference Boudica attacked in AD 61.

Like you said Wyndham was the older of the two but Bodaciouse isn't Bowdicker. I think the confusion comes from the year you mentioned, 1970. You're one century off assuming you're referring to your youth. You can use a fairly simple formula to figure it out but 1970 isn't divisible by 7.

But the ones elizaberhs built are falling down falling down Elizabeth's of england monarch bridges are flying down Thank you Jesus Christ of NAZERATH!
I'm bored of yet more histories about London ...... most of the people of England don't live in London but sadly nearly everyone who makes TV and most of the historians do. This is because the upper-middle class, with their expensive educations and their confidence ALL *, live there. * - well, nearly all of them.
