This beautiful house is now cared for by the National Trust and open to the public.
Charlecote is a few miles from Stratford Upon Avon in Warwickshire. The de Luce or de Lucy family arrived in England from Normandy in 1066. William de Cherlecote married Cecily de Lucy in 1189 and they founded the Lucy family line. Gradually over time the original medieval house was demolished and a new one built from brick and completed in 1558. The house was passed down through the generations until it reached George Hammond Lucy and his new bride who came down from North Wales, Mary Elizabeth Williams. George wanted to remove some of the Georgian additions and return the house to how it looked in the Golden Era of the first Sir Thomas.

My daughter and I walked through the house and gardens. We have shared lots of our findings, but can highly recommend a visit if you are in the UK as there is so much to see here.
