Thank you Sarah, I’ve been making loads lovely compost but there is still never enough to go everywhere, I never thought of making a compost extract. What a great way to spread the goodness! I’m just getting into growing cut flowers and your videos are packed full of great information, love what you do. Many thanks Jenny

Thank you for promoting eco-friendly methods ❤ I was fortunate to visit Jenni Love’s flower farm a few times here in the Philadelphia area. Together we can do a lot.

This is so educational thank you, I’ve been gardening for quite a few years now and I have never made my own compost before, this has really inspired me to try even though I am in a very small space.

Such a great vid, Sarah! My plants have never been healthier and I don't get aphids anymore on our veggies and roses since I started making vermicompost. We also apply thermophilic compost, aged manure and leaf mold. ~ Sandra

That’s the best explanation of this subject that I’ve ever heard. My worms have been munching away for ages and I never knew how to make use of their produce until now. Thank you for putting in the time and effort.

Great video, thank you! Should I never be watering my plants with pure tap water? Or just when doing compost extract?

If you are watering pots and seed trays, and you've used a living compost, then you should avoid using tap water. If you are watering plants in the ground then it would be preferable to use rain water or de-chlorinated water but it's not always possible if you don't have lots of rain water available or the time to do it. I have used a chlorine filter on my tap before - I'm not sure how effective it was but I think it was about £30 on amazon.

I have noticed a huge difference in the health and vitality of my plants but that could be down to a combination of factors. I also use living compost to start seeds, so that will help too.

FINALLY! This is an excellent video !! Demystifying the compost tea/extract question. I make my own compost, thermaphilic, but do not have a microscope to look at it. Do you think i would be better off buying compost for the extract application or should i add humic acid, seaweed extract and other ingredients to be sure that im getting the best extract that i can?? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I’m so glad you found it helpful! If you believe that your own compost has been made well and it didn’t go anaerobic at any point, then I would use it as an extract. It’s when you start bubbling teas and adding foods that gives mixed results. But if you’re happy with your compost then no need to spend any extra (unless you want to!)
