    What I find easier using floor pump by initially putting tube to seat the tire and then remove the tube while the other side of the tire is seated. Then use the tire level like Macky did. That way you only worry about 1 side to check for leaks. Works for me😀

    Great info ,worked first time after struggling .No air compressor needed just a simple track pump. I firstly put a tube in and pumped it up to seat both sides , I then let the air out and carefully unseated one side and removed the tube ,I reinserted the tubeless valve then used the tyre lever to carefully seat as much of the unseated side as possible. I then removed the removable valve core and pumped like he'll with the track pump and up she went .

    THE SECRET is absolutely on the money. Unless your tire beads are somehow already miraculously setting up on the shelf near the outer rim edge, even with a powerful air compressor, they will be leaking air so badly that they will never balloon out and set the bead. I took a plastic bead tool similar to yours and just maneuvered one half of the bead (on one side only) and was able to get my compressor to pop out the tire. This was on a totally dry well used tire with no soapy water and no sealant at all, but yes a large compressor. I took it on and off the rim and it just would not set until I did this trick.

    Main issue is a new tyre and the easiest way with a really stubborn seat is to fit an inner tube and pump it up hard. Leave it a bit then release the air (overnight if possible to get it relaxed into shape). Let out the air and release the bead on one side only (Short side if it's an Asymmetric rim) remove the inner tube without breaking the seat on the one side. Then inflate with one side 100% still seated... not once have I ever seen this method fail. Also never add sealant until its seated (always dry seat a new tyre).. then let the air out again then add sealant through the Valve with the core out using a cheap syringe and reinflate. Also a top tip is some rims are shaped so make sure valve seal is the right shape and aligned correctly.

  • @corsomagenta

    @corsomagenta

    this is the correct answer. ALSO, you don't need a tire tool to seat the second bead. You can just do it with your fingers by "crimping" the tire and reaching through the loose sidewall to indirectly push the bead in with the tips of your fingers from the opposite side.

    Yeah, many pumps are designed that way. It will usually still work, but sometimes you have to have someone hold the pump onto the valve for you..

    Used this video yesterday as I was thinking of taking the wheel to the bike shop to get it done. Use of the tire lever to seat the tire worked great! And I did it correctly as the tires lost no pressure overnight-THANKS!😀

    Have to say I tried this on a set of road tubeless (Mavic Ksyrium UST rim/Mavic Yksion Pro UST tire) and it worked like a charm. I was able to seat most of the bead on the rim on both sides after a couple of tries. All it took was a few pumps with a floor pump until it "popped" to seat the rest. Thanks for the tip!

    You guys rock. With no access to a compressor, and a failed CO2 attempt, your method totally did the trick. We will never be afraid of changing out tires again (like this time last minute for Nationals). Brilliant!!!!

    A wee update. Have done this a couple of times with Maxxis tyres. Has been super easy. However, much trickier with a brand new Schwalbe Nobby Nic. When I was seating the second side, the first would pop off. Took a few goes, but basically all came down to patience! Still worked a treat once I worked out where I was going wrong.

    Howdy. You saved my day!!!!! I have been putting on normal tires for years and years. Half a year ago I put on my first tubeless, and I had no problem what so ever, to get air in to it. And I thought what are they talking about, not being able to get air in to the tire? Today I was fitting my next tubeless and IT DID NOT WORK! Watched your video, and boom, it was on! Good job!

    This worked very well. I normally used Co2 cartridges but this method is free. I used the tube first to get one side in and I only needed to get the tire seated with this method for about 25 cm around the valve to get the other side to pop in once the tube was out. Thank you.

    What a brilliant set of tips. Just changed my Maxxis Recons(three years old on the Ebike with E Mazza tyres from Vittiria. Had far more trouble taking the tyres off than refitting. Think the new tyres may have helped because they were tight on the rim. kept the valve cores in and it only required half a dozen pumps to seat and ping into place. Thanks again.
