Hi, I have a question. How long did it take you to complete the course? I've heard you guys do a 24 week/6 months instructor led course. I'm using the free FSI Programmatic Course in Portuguese for self study. I'm guessing its an older version than what's used today. I know its different with self study but I'd like to know the length of time it took to complete for the instructor led course. great video by the way.

When you are at FSI, are you provided housing or do you need to find your own accommodations?

It depends. If you live close ("a local hire") you may need to find your own housing. Thanks for commenting and your question!

Thanks for the info! About how long does it usually take to matriculate through the Foreign Service Institute? Are FSO’s and FS Specialists placed in the same class?

Hi Shannon!! Thanks for your comment. It depends on your schedule and the courses you need to take. Even if people start at the same time, there's no guarantee they are finished at the same time. I personally did not have any Specialists in my language class. Thanks!

How long was the Portuguese course you took before moving to Brazil?

Hi Dilia! I was in Portuguese for over a year. It was only supposed to be about six months but was delayed because of Covid
Is there only one FSI or are there different branches?
