Excellent advice! Constantly pursuing greater volume it's easy to forget that dynamics are relative.

Mmmmm. It’s not really possible on guitar. That’s why it’s called piano and forte…because it’s what you do on a piano, where it’s actually possible 😊

Not quite. "Piano" and "Forte" just mean "soft" and "loud" in italian. They are just dynamics that can be played on almost any instrument, just like you can speak softly (piano) or loudly (forte). Piano - the instrument - is called that way because it comes from the harpsichord which was one of the very few instruments that couldn't play softer or louder, so they developed a new "version" of it that they first called "fortepiano" and then "pianoforte" (from which the english word "piano" derives) to emphasize the fact that it could play piano and forte, but this perk was and still is the norm for any other instrument. Guitar is no exception.

If you have a well made concert classical guitar, a good guitarist can conjure an incredible dynamic range.
