I learned that "Becoming a king" is the key to success in classroom management; the best leader is one who makes people feel safe and willing to follow your lead. It reminds me that I need to start viewing myself as the "king of a class", believing I'm a leader so I can act like one. I also love the idea of being positive about students' misbehavior. Be excited about being tested and challenged by students. See it as an opportunity to show my strength, instead of a "problem" to be solved. This encourages me a lot since the students I teach are always... filled with energy, to the extent that it is impossible for me to teach. 🤣 I'm a first-year teacher for a 5th-grade class. This video is what I need!! Thank you so much for providing such valuable information!! Look forward to more tips and strategies regarding teaching and classroom management!! 😍❤
This video has been so helpful to me. Nobody has ever explained things like this before. I feel that already there has been a dramatic change in my classroom management since using your ideas -- and that was within the first class after I watched your video. I especially liked the following: Your explanation of the teacher as being king; the comparison to the animal kingdom where the leaders are tested; And the way you frame the idea of looking forward to being tested/challenged by the students, rather than dreading it. Thank you so much for sharing your insights, ideas and tips!

Your tips are invaluable. They have helped my classroom environment In immeasurable ways. Thank you! I’m passing this along to all 8 teachers on my team.

What a lovely message! Thank you so much for sending this feedback, it gives me motivation to continue posting videos that might help some teachers. Thank you! 😊
I am a primary school teacher and I would be extremely happy if we could exchange experience between schools.
Thank you for taking time to make this video. I am terrible at classroom management so have been watching various videos on it. I've already been with the class for half a year. There are 2 7-year-olds who are very disruptive. They make me so unhappy. The rest are fidgety and unfocused but they strive to behave. Almost everything you mentioned are what I didn't do well and hence my class is disorderly now and then.
This is an amazing insightful video. Most classroom management videos don't even attempt to cover the subject of classroom energy. Making sure your lessons are fit for the different spursts of classroom energy with each class is key to keeping students engaged and manageable. Thank you!!

I’ve been a terrible student, I feel the king in my classroom, I like to be challenged by my students, I like to see them strive, I often doubt about my monitoring (as I tend to be more focused on analysing my behaviour with them), I don’t always give clear instructions (because I didn’t plan the lesson thoroughly), I often forget to present examples before assigning a task. Well your video really made me think!! I’ll treasure the tips, I’ve already shared the video and I’ll keep following your advice. Thanks 🙏🏻

What I understand from this video is that there is not one specific method that the teacher can adopt, the students will try in many diverse ways in order to challenge the teacher, so it's important to be aware of the ways the students would challenge the teacher in order to know how to react and stand steady.

Thanks for helping me to understand that teaching children is not for me, though I've been working for 4 years. I can never get discipline in my class whatever I do. This guy says that the main secret is to be the king, to be the real leader, but what if I don't have those qualities. I just try to pretend to be strong, but that's not there in my nature. I don't feel like I'm the king.😢

Hi! :D Listen, we as humans have adapted for thousands of years to do difficult things. Even if we don't feel confident in ourselves initially, we have no choice but to improve. There have been millions of teachers that have felt the same way you do, they have had to suffer through more difficult circumstances to survive and go on to excel. You are no different. You can do this. It will be hard, but just believe that no matter what, you will become that confident, strong teacher you aim to be. You can do this!
@Shared-Experiences
Жыл бұрын
I feel the same way. I've never felt like a leader or "king" and I've been thrown into this job(really expected way more training of some sort) but after some time and experience I'm beginning to feel like a leader for the first time in my life it's given me a newfound confidence and I hope you can get a different perspective or go on and do something you feel is more fitting because we're not going to live forever.
It is very helpful .Most of my quere's are resolved.
This video is very helpful for me, my dear friend Eric! I'm an English teacher from Romania. After I can see you also read the book "Secret" by Rhonda Byrne (a book which I read for several times and which I consider very useful). Hi Eric, thanks for the video. I'm an English teacher in Italy. I really agree about setting a few rules in the first weeks of school, maybe having them create posters, and be clear about the punishment, but what do you usually do to punish them for misbehaviour? For example when they continue to chat or to act up ?

Sorry for the late reply, Elsa! I missed your comment! This Sunday I will focus on your question first. You've probably already seen my video on a noisy class: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z2V626aIirnLhrg.html. I would say make a rule about excessive noise in class. Write names on the board and invent some kind of punishment or reward for quiet classes. You want them to work with you. What age are your students now and how many in classes. Is it just specific students that get too loud or is it the whole class? Sorry for missing your question ;'(
