Make a 10 inch set for deeper cuts on thicker stock, such as a 2x4's, and I'll buy it.

Thanks for the video and as a result I ordered the set and the Incra jig. Can you add a shim between the two blades like on a dado stack to widen the cut bigger than 3/8"?

I don't think Freud recommends that. You might be able to widen it by a thousandth or two, but there isn't enough overlap on the teeth to go much wider than 3/8"

My Freud's box joint cutter set has a very small notch sticking up after I cut mine causing a gap in my finger joint. It is hard to notice but after putting them together it causes a gap.

I saw the photos of the cuts your box joint cutter set made and we're all a bit stumped on what might be the cause. It's as if one of the blades is smaller in diameter than the other. The only other possible cause that I can think of would have to do with the arbor (shaft) on your table saw. If there is an area on the arbor that is smaller in diameter than the rest of the arbor, it could allow one of the blades to drop down into the the low spot and then the blade would be running off-center, which would effectively make a deeper cut than the mating blade. This could give you a notch like you show. The third possibility is simply a defective blade set. You might try reaching out to Freud and see if they have any insight on what might be causing this.

if you are referring to the miter gauge being used in the video along with the Box Joint Cutter Set, it's the Incra I-Box, which you can purchase by clicking here... thewoodsmithstore.com/product/incra-i-box/#fullProdDesc

That is the Incra I-Box. It's a great jig for box joints. We may feature it in another video in the future because we've had a lot of interest in it.

What is my issue? I did purchase this set but I don't think it matters because I'm making the same mistake using whatever method I choose. For some reason my depths don't match. The ends line up but when I form it to 90 degrees the cuts are not equally deep. I am setting the height and not changing it while cutting. Thanks

Three possible issues: 1. Make sure the workpiece is fully seated over the pin and resting on the jig before making the cut. 2. Check to ensure there isn't any sawdust or chips under the workpiece. 3. Make sure the workpiece is passing all the way over the top of the blade with each cut.
