Set in traditional times where male children were considered more important than females, a king seeking an heir to his throne is obsessed with having a male child. Consequently, his third wife (his two previous wives had six daughters between and were all sent away) switches her daughter with a poor farmer’s son in secret. The king unaware that the boy isn't his raises the child as Prince Akin who lives a life of prestige and luxury. While Sade the daughter who was switched to be with the farmer and his wife lives the life of a poor farmer’s daughter helping with the farm. When her father disappears and her mother is accused by the villagers of being a witch, both run off into the jungle for their lives. But they are not alone. Talking animals including the parrot who knew about the switch and spread the news, come together to help the mother and daughter who now live in a hut alone in the jungle hiding from those who might harm them. When Prince Akin finally meets Sade and they fall in love, the real challenge and adventure begin as they realize they will have to fight to be together.

How many ppl agree that we need our own DISNEY MOVIE EQUIVALENT showing and portraying our babies as princesses and princes kings and queens showing them stories like this and more..I love this please continue and make more for children of african decent

We have our own african stories no need to adapt White ppl stories. I grew up hearing some of the stories in this video. For example in school we learrnt about oluronmbi and aduke the iroko tree child. Even the song in the video was a nursery rhyme. I am glad african youth are making the stories into film and sharing with the world. We hv princesses and queens and demons and warriors and priests and medicine and religion. All coming soon. Myself i am working on a gaming production too coming out end of this yr though it is launching in Ghana and Nigeria before i share with the diaspora

If you are African and never had a chance of listening to stories by the fireplace sitting on a mat or a stool, with the moon light lighting the hut kitchen, barefoot, waiting for the story to end so you can go to bed, you have no idea what being African really is, the good old times. Well if you are talking about today's American cartoons some of it is trash just like some African cartoons and thier movies are full of witchcraft like this one it's really not a cartoon I would want my kids watching simply because it's encouraging witchcraft ideas even the Nigerian nolly wood movie industry are full of witchcraft U can't discredit other people's work to promote your own or other people's work for that matter. every one's work is good in thier own eyes and we shouldn't be bashing people work cause u don't like them. But no this is not a cartoon African American children should be watching it has witchcraft in it non of it is leading them to the path of our holy God. this cartoon can mislead any child to look to witchcraft to solve thier problem I know this cause am Nigeria for one and and some Nigeria films glorifies witchcraft. Some are good and some are pure trash and that goes for everyone s work

This was thoroughly entertaining. I was gripped the whole time. More and More please!
For those asking about the meaning of the song - Turn on the caption for the subtitle. It is a folk song from the Yoruba Culture. In Yoruba religion, People go to the Ifa priest to consult the oracle when they have a problem. The Ifa priest usually asks them to make a precious sacrifice to get what they want such as Goats, Sheep, very rare or hard to get things like the leaf of a tree in a forbidden forest or a Lion's teeth(where they had to fight a lion to get it). In this folk story Childless Oluronbi is required to make a sacrifice of her child so she could have a child and experience been a mother. She agrees and makes the ultimate Sacrifice. The oracle would come to pass that her child is taken even when she could not let go.
@toxicologiii
5 жыл бұрын
It is reassuring not rebellious to know the three side to every story. Sacrifice is to be honored by letting go of something not always someone??? And, with great meaning of the length one would go to get what they desire. Whether it is a reasonable quest, of asking and receiving (not deceiving). Again I enjoyed this story.
