Hello Mr. Eric, I love your video and I must say it is very educative. I am an individual with a very high interest in oil seeds. I am a potential farmer and I would like take this opportunity to ask if you sell Safflower seeds for planting? What is the best variety of Safflower for oil production? Secondly, do you also grow Canola seeds, if yes, are the seeds available for sales? Thank you.

Safflower seeds are available, but they aren't certified. If you prefer, we can source them from local farmers; currently, the seeds are relatively pure as not many farmers are cultivating them. As for canola, it's not available yet. However, we're actively growing sesame and sunflower for oil extraction.

Yes, it's, plant density acceptable is around 40 x40 cm, 40 x 30 cm , 40 x 25 cm , 40 x 20 cm depending the variety, Yield 15 bags of 65 kg per acre this is based on our experience from the last season, average price per bag is Tsh 100,000/=

@@alasdairm86 Currently, seeds are the major plant part used, for high quality edible oil, industrial oil, and bird seeds, but this Safflower in ancient time used for numerous uses, such as coloring foods , medicines, oleic acid and linoleic acid which makes nutritionally similar to Olive oil. Also the young leaves of safflower are eaten as vegetable and they're rich in Carotene, riboflavin, vitamins A and C , Iron , Phosphorus and Calcium.

@@ERICKKUMARI last reply. You are very expert. Most impressive. Have you ever tried the biggy which is saffron? Tanzania probably isnt set up for it and very few are but worth a thought.

I appreciate your positive intention. Safflower is typically sown directly into the soil, as transplanting poses a challenge due to its delicate root system. The success rate of transplantation is generally low, and it is advisable to directly sow the seeds for optimal results.

Can you rely on rain only, or is irrigation better?

Here in Algeria, they grow wheat and barley and depend on rain only, and they reap a large yield. Safflower. I think it withstands thirst more than wheat and barley??

We sell to our local market and the rest we consume as cooking oil.
