I think the difference between Whis involvement with earth in Resurrection F and Merus is that Merus is acting on his and wants to help goku defeat Moro on top of using his true powers. However Whis only acts if Beerus tells him to: In Ressurection F right before the explosion Beerus told him to act resulting in creating the shield and then revert back time. He also trains them cause of Beerus since he wants vegeta and goku to get stronger so he can have a rival. During the Broly movie he had broly's attention until gogeta arrives, not only giving them a chance to best him which leads to both of them getting stronger in the long run if they decide to train with Broly, but also because he would never let him destroy earth, which is pretty much what Beerus cares about the most. On top of that Broly is now an ally and should they need powerful warriors to protect the universe like in ToP, they got another one who rivals the gods. You can also argue that whis trains them because he wants them to be as strong as the gods of destruction even if they refuse, just incase something happens to Beerus. So Basically Whis always has reasons to act which leads into positive results for the best of U7 but Merus does not. He does not have a god to obey to, and he is willing to act on his own which the opposite of what the angels should do

Hmm, if Merus is an apprentice Angel, then this means a new Universe would be born soon. Also means a God of Destruction would have to be picked for said Universe. I would love to see an arc where we see someone go through the process of being a God of Destruction first hand. I mean there's Toppo as being an apprentice but we didn't see the type of training he has to endure. Maybe even have a flashback of Beerus's past before he became one and see the previous GOD before him.

Sonic Goku being interested in learning is different than Vegeta being a better fighter. Vegeta has always been a better fighter, his ambitions led him to slack behind Goku, as they say “revenge is a dish best served cold” because he always felt like he had something to prove he couldn’t access his true potential

Are ignoring the biggest reveal of this chapter? The fact that yardrat training could raise the powe by so much because of that spirit-power harmony. That means goku had this boost ever since the android saga in dbz. And even at a handicap vegeta was mostly on par with him. I thought all goku learned was IT, seems he got a hell of a boost tho' and has been carrying it since forever

@@Thecor13 Even so, this means that since android saga dbz goku benefited 100% of each power up from ssj2 to ssj blue while vegeta only 70% let's say. And still was on par with goku. I don't think the persom who thought of this boost thought of the retroactive efects it would have. They just wanted to give geets a boost somehow, most likely.

When Vegeta accidentally unleashes that blast his pose when it went off had me thinking Rei-Gun!!!!

Interesting point I found - It was said Vegeta’s body and spirit were severely off balanced before his yardrat training. Once aligned, he experienced a power boost to the point that it shocked him in the manga. So it’s interesting that, despite his body and spirit imbalance, he has kept up with Goku up until this point

What I am thinking is, a law can be changed. I like Merus as a character and I feel he can become something great within the DB universe. I hope they keep him around, he should mentor Goku and Vegeta as he enjoys training and to be honest, he likes being a warrior lol. Would be cool to change angel law somehow to allow Merus to not just be some destroyers attendant. He is beyond that!

Quick thought: Since Vegeta with a bit of spirit training has his ki intensified, do you think that's why Jiren was so strong? Like his constant meditation is him focusing his spirit or something. I think it's a neat explanation for why Jiren and his moves are so intense.

Off the bat, you're wrong. Vegeta has not completed his training at all. They said he was ready to learn the basics.

Whis didn't break the rules when reversing time. because he stated he has to do that with beerus all the time when he destroyed something that wasn't supposed to be destroyed

I actually prognosticated that Merus was an angel. But I really didn’t know he would be indeed the little brother of Whis. So now we know why the Angels can’t get involved with fighting alongside mortals. Whis may have turned back time to save the earth from Frieza blowing it up. But it was still interference like you said. I really hope they do an arc involving the angels, the Daishinkan included and eventually explain why they have certain strict rules to follow and so forth. I did like the chapter. I still like the two previous involving Piccolo, even though he, Gohan, Krillin & Jaco were getting owned by 7-3, Shimorekka & Yunba which I didn’t like in my opinion. I don’t think the Z fighters shouldn’t been nerfed like that.

Non-lethal and no angel powers. Whis in training uses much more force than Agent Merus. Heck, Whis even fired a blast from his wand before.

I think it was a great chapter! Vegeta's sudden / unexpected burst of energy was really baddass and sells well the idea of how much he's actually grown without even realising. Plus, I think the fighting pages were really good this time :)

It's translates to fighting. Not just intervention. Whis reversing time was about training Goku regarding his flaws or weaknesses. So the angels are allowed to train people just not full-on fight. As he said in the manga, going all out would constitute a battle. Super simple.

merus is probably being trained in conjunction with the revival of the other universes, the grand priest when speaking with whis mentioned he would prefer to not lose ANOTHER angel that implies he's had to sentence another angel to eradication, merus would likely replace the lost angel.
