The Secret inspiration Behind Penacony || Honkai Star Rail Analysis

Ойын-сауық

Today I talk about the clear Gnostic inspirations behind Honkai Star Rail's Penacony planet, specifically the HSR 2.2 boss and brother Sunday and the clear inspiration from the Apocryphon of John. There are many things I didn't mention in the video such as Mikhail being called "the watchmaker" and so on, but I cared mostly about the central point. Hope you enjoy!

    I remember watching an anime called Gun x Sword years ago that had * spoilers * an ending where a bad guy wanted to create a false heaven on earth. The gnostic symbolism really is prolific. Also I just noticed that the symbol for the military in Fullmetal Alchemist is the symbol of a lion either a snake’s tail. Very Yaldabaoth.

    Love this video! Subbed Yes, Penacony is a...VERY explicit, almost turn by turn allegory for Enlightenment, of which gnosticism centers. You can consider Enlightenment frameworks hoyo's philosophy btw, since all their games from Honkai 3rd to Genshin use it as a story skeleton. Acheron's entire plane of Nihility scene blatantly mirrors Buddhist Ego Death (also known as Jungian Psychic Death). This is the last stage before Enlightenment. "Always distinguish between reality and imagination... alright, Grey?" -Sparkle, and On the Eighth Day Those who experience Ego Death often describe it as Grey, Black and White, "infinity that feels like nothing." The experience contextualizes via Finality(!) why exactly your life happened up to that point. "Everyone, and every face they remember, the joy and the heartaches, the vows sealed and those left hanging... all will inevitably march towards a predetermined ending. If you had grasped the journey's finale right from its inception..." -Acheron, And On the Eighth Day "And in the end, you will only see in black and white." -Acheron, And On the Eighth Day To reach Ego Death, you must see the Truth through Lies (wonder why Gallagher is a composite of 52 Family members? because Siddhartha Gautama's Disturbances of the Mind involves seeing through the 52 lies of Reality that mask the Truth). The Lies are everything you have ever learned from Cause and Effect, to how interpret literature, to how to tie your shoes - they're just rules we created to interpret the chaos of our Reality. We created them, not the other way around. You must learn to use them as tools, not as laws that shackle you. This is why the Trailblazer says "Rules are meant to be broken!" "It was not you who created all things. It was humanity that created you!" -Embryo of Philosophy Sunday to Ena This is why Sunday's eternal dream needed to be shattered. The demiurge traps humans in a dream that though safe, lacks wonder, and is but an eggshell - hence why black swan says there is a "fatal flaw" in the dream, and the Primordial One's firmament is described as an eggshell. Reality always wins, since dreams of this kind - delusions! - are fragile, and will someday be broken, if not by the good guys, then the bad guys. "The mighty Star Fortress, Anusharwan - designed personally by Princess Gopatha, and named by Emperor Sher - was now nothing more than a fragile egg before the rebel fleet, and mother hen was away from the nest." -A legend of Sword, Genshin '""Find meaning somewhere. The night deepens." "Find meaning somewhere. The night deepens, but the dream lives on."' -Flowers for Princess Fischl, Genshin Impact "Teyvat has its own laws." Never have faith in our Reality's "laws", because they don't apply to interpreting Genshin's lore. A fairytale in Genshin might be about the game's future. It might be talking to the player, not other characters. The lore of Genshin is Chaos, nonsense. Literary Nonsense! which is why Alice's name is Alice, since Alice in Wonderland(Teyvat) is a book of the literary nonsense genre. Acheron also says "the so-called impossible is merely something that has yet to happen." When you put no faith in rules, there is infinite possibility. Vera's Melancholy, Genshin Impact: "As I've said, the past cannot change the future, for the predetermined rules of equilibrium are slightly more powerful than me. But the future, with its infinite possibilities, could save the world." The second part of reaching that Ego Death is detaching from your deepest desires, because desires are a fear of the Unknown - a fear of not having that desire - that prevent you from achieving dreams those desires stem from. "Parting and passion are two separate perspectives sharing the same nature." -Lyney story quest item "So long as there is still desire left in your heart, when you hold your head high you will see that which glitters but is not light." -Travel Notes, Falling Star (Genshin namecard) Those whose desires Jade granted wound up completely screwed, that much is clear. ~~ As for why Clockie says only those with "childlike spirit" or something can see him, a memetic entity? Besides Enlightened people, there are tons of people who have not internalized the "lies" of Reality. They are called children, who thus can make Imaginary Friends (projections of their visual spatial sketchpad onto Reality, *memetic entities*) because their Imaginations and Reality are consolidated. However, since they have yet not experienced the harshness of Reality for themselves, children accrue Lies as they grow up into adults. To become Enlightened, you must, in essence, reconsolidate Imagination and Reality (accept the harshness of Reality while believing in its infinite possibility), all with your Ego at the center, becoming an adult piloting the wonder and creativity of childlike cognition. (This is the Jungian Self) "One has to eventually grow up Spending a lifetime to taste the love and pain" -Honkai 3rd, Da Capo "To the others, childhood was long gone, but youth was forever beyond their reach." -Vera's Melancholy, Genshin Impact Hence the adults in Sumeru can't see the aranara and why the Imaginary Friend viewfinder device Lisa whips out in Venti's first story quest is called the "nirnama [NAMELESS] detector" HSR's Nameless can think like children, because those Enlightened must go nameless, with humility, into the throngs. After having seen infinite grey during Ego Death and after having chased the Color of Existence to its horizon, those Enlightened must serve to inspire others, not rule them, because they are not gods, but humans, as they always were. Humanity at large must make its own choice as to salvation, because what matters is that humanity made a choice, not that they reached a certain ending; because though Life is suffering, that color shines infinitely brighter than the blandness of perfection. "even if the future is full of pain, we won't escape from it!" -March 7th, Penacony "True happiness and the meaning of life lie in defying the Nihility and embracing all that life offers!" -Robin "As I said, our plan is not about convincing everyone to choose the right path, but about inspiring them to save themselves. So, when will people actively save themselves?" -Acheron As you can see, Penacony's conclusion references this pretty explicitly.

    This is all well and good but I'd suggest that you actually read religious authors if you want to talk about religious themes. Bart Erhman is an atheist so I have no idea why you would turn to him. Even in the footnotes of that book he admits that the textual differences between the NT manuscripts are largely irrelevant or negligible.

  • @HidinginPrivate

    @HidinginPrivate

    3 күн бұрын

    I've read a lot. Bart's book is accessible and consistent with scholarship opinion, this includes Christian scholars. There are also many changes that substantially affected Christian history. Like "son of a construction worker" became "Jesus is a carpenter"

  • @Chrysostomus_17

    @Chrysostomus_17

    3 күн бұрын

    @@HidinginPrivate Even if he is a scholar, he is an atheist with an axe to grind so you should not be turning to him unless your aim is to denigrate the religion in question. Imagine if I wanted to talk about the Buddhist themes in a piece of Japanese media and I turn to an ex-Buddhist who writes books saying Buddhism is fake. That just doesn't make any sense. So likewise, if you want to talk about Christian themes it would better to consult actual Christians who actually believe in said themes. The "construction worker" thing is not a textual variant. You don't have manuscripts which say "carpenter" and others which say something else. That's just Ehrman's interpretation of "τέκτων" which, by the way, is wrong. τέκτων is a craftsman skilled in wood.
