What’s crazy to me about this performance is you could hear a pin drop. The audience is so quiet and enthralled with her playing.

@@HighMonkeyMonk All too true. Went to see a guitar player MANY years ago with a bunch of friends, we were all sitting a table together. He started going into a softer mid-tempo song, and everyone was talking at the top of their voices. Another friend in the group & I turned around & yelled "SHUT UP", they all looked at us, but they did shut up. It was a great tune, and still a favorite of mine now. After that she & I would dance to this tune whenever he'd play it.

@@chadfranklin47 its not down playing anything, its literally true, the writter of Cowboy Bebop and Yoko Kanno started a rather symbiotic relationship where the writter wrote scenes inspired by Yokos music and she saw the scenes and wrote more music out of it, it's just perfect
Definitely one of the best composers of our time.
this is WHY Yoko Kanno is still my top/most favorite composer/pianist/musician of all the time,..her music somehow always have this beautiful *jazzy/jazz* influence (also some classical influence as well)! which always adds such elegance & class to all her music,..compared to all other composers! her music is both beautiful, melodic, and unique! I have soo much respect for her,..she's my inspiration! ^_^

Yoko Kanna was one of my influences when I was a child musician. When I got a little older and better, I composed and performed live music with crazy expressiveness and excitement like hers. Wish life responsibilities hadn’t caught up with me. I’d be out there still giving people heart palpitations.

Jazz Agers, flower children, lost generation, beatniks, rockers, punks, nerds, hackers, lovers -whatever, there have always been outlaws in our society who live in pursuit of autonomy. At times they are revered for their roles as pioneers, challenging the unknown, other times people consider them lawless desperadoes and a dangerous presence. Yet,it is only their exuberant music and an autonomy founded to express opinions different from those of others that set them apart from society.
Yoko Kanno = genius ^_^
The lick she pulls out at 2:05 is brilliant!
Don't get me wrong, this entire performance by Yoko was brilliant, but 5:48 really stands out for me...what a talent she is!!!!

I love this version - even though it is a combination of different songs, it feels to me like one whole song and combines and tells like a story of life passing. an experience that listening to an individual song just cant produce. love this solo performance

was listening to this while playing cyberpunk 2077…I know it’s not the music’s intended use, but I was so high up on the map, and the buildings were still so much taller than I, and I looked up, and there was the Gershwin part. it channels the kind of awe that big cities tend to have
This is one of those talents I could watch for a lifetime and never get tired of it. She rode a greyhound bus across the USA (greyhound busses are terrifying for a young woman alone- full of vagrants and scary ppl) but she said it was the high point of her life in being exposed to so many music styles and meeting so many colorful people. One man's trash is another woman's treasure I guess. She's a jewel, though.

a very rare genius musician that I have the most respect! she creates music like no other ever done.. the 'magic', the wonders, the fantasy, the beauty, the imagination, & the warmth.. she creates deeply moving & free-ing music in so many genre of music, from jazz, classical, orchestral, ballad, pop, & even some very 'other-worldly/out-of-this-world' music! whenever i need a break from the cold, harsh, cruel everyday's reality/real-life/real-world,..i always just listen to her music,..and somehow it always able to put a little bit of heart-warming smile in my face.. . :')
I love it the camera work the music. Even on this day its magic
How can one person so genius like this? Damn, she can compose and play all kind of musics maybe...
