You also had different speeches from your generals based on their traits, and overall how it would affect your morale on the battlefield and also titles that were given to your generals based on their loyalty/ dread and deeds and what they did in game, e.g if they went on a successful crusade.

While not first the Scottish did actually try to colonise America in an incredibly intelligent way . They tried to build a Canal , much like the Panama Canal with the thought that charging for entry as this would greatly reduce time and danger for shipping would make them incredibly wealthy , however it was a disaster for them due to disease etc , and put Scotland in huge debt , They were definitely too early to the party when trying this as technology wasn’t up to scratch. this is one of the main reasons Scotland joined the UK as this huge debt would be covered for them .

Scotland can probably be one of the most fun campaings if you just chessed the early game and spammed Higlanders that would buzzsaw all of the other factions early troops.

@@haripadagangaram8326 Not a godamm clue. Everytime I use them they work for like 3 seconds and then the soldiers drop them for swords. They seem to atleast work against cavalry charges.

@@haripadagangaram8326 Only with mods which disable their secondary weapon. And that fix tends to make them OP, even when their damage is nerfed to compensate. I remember getting M2TW back in 2006 at release and being so disappointed by the pike bug.

i miss the small animations done by this game, the way the troops move, charge, to the way they reload and brace for cannon fire, it still makes medieval 2 my favorite total war still to this day. I really wish CA would put these small details into their new games. They honestly make a big difference. ;-;

You can also field those Scottish armoured swordsmen, Knights Hospitallers and mercenaries such as mercenary longbowmen, mercenary arquebusiers, etc.. There’s also a very fast moving mercenary light cavalry unit with armour piercing weapons from the east (“Alan light cavalry”?).

The outlaw king is really good movie for those who are interested in Scottish warfare between the English

You really manage to condense all the fun of a total war campaign into these videos, and for that I salute you. It is actually more difficult to have fun playing Medieval 2 myself to the extent that I enjoy watching these Experiences.

I've thoroughly exhausted med2 to the point playing it feels like an absolute chore, but watching these lets me relive exactly all the fun parts.

Dunno but everytime i see videos like this makes me play medieval 2 again, it's like there's something in medieval 2 and shogun 2 that always makes me comeback unlike the newer titles.

I think Medieval 2 is the only game in the world where you get to see visible changes in the armor when you upgrade the units.

That really speaks volumes about American education. I realize a substitute teacher is hardly an example of high academia or anything, but it's not a ridiculous hiring standard for the person who will be teaching children to actually know basic geography... It's a systemic problem too, I interact with a lot of Americans who are staying in Scotland, and apart from the Americanisms and sheer lack of cultural knowledge, they're just geographically illiterate... Some of them think they can just go on road trips in this country like they can in America and are shocked that they end up in another country after just 2 hours of driving.

Put them on defensive/guard mode - they will stay in rank and use their pikes.

It's beautifully ironic how in this scenario the Scots were fighting to secure their independence from England. And then once they did, they reformed into a powerful modern pike and shot army and embarked on a massive conquest. They became the very thing they swore to oppose.

medieval II battles were so intense, like no other TW game :(
