Does the machine not kickback? When he cut that full sheet, say the saw started to bind, what does he do? There’s no butt bar. Never seen the butt bar used that way. Weird.

Hi Joseph. There really is no way for a sheet to bind when using a sliding saw, since the offcut piece is free to fall away after the cut. Binding can happen when using the parallel fence, so that is why you would want to use the sliding table as much as possible. As for the butt bar it is customary for many operators to keep the slider from progressing into the blade by blocking it with the pressure of your body weight, but jamming your body against that bar.
