Wolverine's claw retcon happened after the Fatal Attractions story line when Magneto ripped the adamantium from his body. That was in 1993. So, his claws being bone and part of his mutation has been accepted for over 20 years. That was 16 years before X-Men Origins Wolverine.

But I still remember Wolverine before that 1993 story.. so for me it isn’t canon because I grew up with old school Wolverine before he was popular. Guess im a Wolvie Hipster. Same goes for wathammer 40k, dad had the original rogue trader codex book

Actually I believe the Claws still come out of his knuckles in the new Deadpool, it's just that the metal holes in his glove's are so large. And I much prefer him having bone claws and then having adamantium grafted on, it adds to his tragedy & just like real animals, humans take these natural creature's and physically alter them for their own interests, kind of like creating a new breed of animals or replacing a dog's teeth with titanium replacement's.

But thats supposedly logan from the standalone movie. So if thats the case. In my opinion the gloves just have the holes so he dont keep ripping his gloves over and over.

His backstory was published in the graphic novel Origin which explained how his mutation came to be and it seems like every time he suffers significant trauma his brain heals over the memories. The Weapon X graphic novel better explained how he got his adamantium skeleton. He wasn't a volunteer, he was heavily tranquilized and sedated and they kept pumping him full of sedatives because of his healing factor. After the procedure his mind was subsequently wiped. Though they couldn't keep him down for long and he escaped into the wilderness outside of the facility.

Wolverine having cybernetic claws hasn't been a thing since the 90s at least, when magneto took all the metal and he had bone claws

So while everyone is talking about if the claws are "implanted" or just coating around his preexisting bone claws, Does no one ever questions how his adame tium claws are already razor sharp the moment it cool down after the injection? Like was his body literally sharpening the metal casting until they became Sharp? Is it in a deleted scene where they literally tried to sharpen the newly casted claws? How did the metal not fuse his claws to his forearm?

  • @eonnexus

They were just coated in metal like the rest of his bones, Wolverine's bone claws are still MEANT to be sharp, as they can cut through metal in the comics, the Adamantium just followed that pre-existing mold.

@@eonnexus I think what he means is how his Adamantium claws already come out looking like razor-sharp mini katanas instead of forming around the natural shape of his bone claws?

Gambit charged Wolverine to become a living bomb to attack a Sentinel, Logan would have exploded too, bad science. That tricked worked with Bishop vs a train because Bishop could redirect the kinetic force towards the train and not be charged himself, good science, Wolverine couldn't do that.

I really disliked Logan's bone claws. In my head cannon, I think of them as something Logan's mutation developed as a form of compensation (something to replace the adamantium claws his body had grown accustomed to over they years), but I realize this is stretching the imagination quite far in order to justify something I don't like.
