When I shot the video I had no idea if the recipe would work. I wanted to try a recipe using only the book as a reference for the idea and see if it's working. To see if flavor pairing written it the book was accurate.
We are also using ‪@StevetheBartender_‬ 's grenadine recipe. It is such a simple and delicious recipe, there's no good reason not to try it.
The LOL cocktail
2 oz gin
0.75 oz Grenadine
0.75 oz Fresh lime juice
0.75 oz Fresh grapefruit juice
1 barspoon Coriander seeds
2 Dashes lemongrass & cardamom bitters
Also, these cocktails are easy cocktails to make at home. Usually I say that the simpler cocktail recipes are the one without homemade drinks ingredients but in this case, the homemade grenadine syrup recipe is so simple, it will be the best cocktail recipes you've ever learned that are easy to make at home.
Don't worry this is not complicated mixology, just a stunning drink super easy to make. The best easy cocktail recipes to make at home with your friends

    I used to make perfumery before switching to mixing drinks and I can say these things are somewhat related. You’ve mentioned the book by Françoise Chartier - I actually don’t understand the reason why he felt the need to extract flavor molecules on his own ‘cause perfumers are already into it. As for linalool, save for coriander seeds this molecule can be found as one of the major constituents in many floral essential oils such as lily of the valley, jasmine, orange blossom and in very high concentrations in French lavender. Also in bergamot and sweet basil oils... Lots of things. Yes, organic chemistry sometimes can be fun! For instance, lemon oil contains delta-Limonene and beta-Pinene. All citrus have the first, and the latter can be found in conifers and some plants such as rosemary. That means you can potentially combine citrus scents with “fresh forest” scents. Ok, let’s utilize that idea to make a cocktail, grab some lemon juice, gin, tonic, rosemary and juniper berries for garnishing...wait a second?.. 😅

  • @TrufflesOnTheRocks

    @TrufflesOnTheRocks

    I love Oleo but in this case, adding a seciond sugar would result in a too sweet cocktail I believe. I actually liked it like that but I'm sure some poeple will find it too tart so that's why I suggest cutting off 0.25 oz of the tart citrus. It will still be there for the taste and the grapefruit adds plenty enough citrus to have that citrus flav. But you remind me I should make some Oleo soon. Cheers!

    Always when I see a grapefruit juice in the cocktail, I try to replace a part of it with Aperol and sometimes with Campari, e.g. when the recipe calls for 1 oz of the juice, I use 3/4 oz of the juice and 1/4 of the Aperol. When I use Campari, I do about a half amount of it, so it's like 1/8 oz (scant teaspoon; I don't like Campari in large amounts, like 1 oz). It usually results in really good cocktails. Tbh most of the time I prefer these than the originals. I encourage you to try it :)

    Could use digestive liqueurs, it would fit in, like Frangelico being nutty. The pistachios being quite flavourful could overpower other flavours, could work with strong liqueurs, maybe whisky/brandy, putting in some sweetness being simple syrup or any other kind of syrup, some "meddled" (idk how its actually written) pistachios? Could be a nice touch to an old fashioned. If that doesnt bring the pistachio flavour in the drink you could try making a pistachio simple syrup.
