So, I first learned about the SCHWA sound a week ago, even though I've been speaking my version of English all my life :). I am intrigued that even NATIVE English speakers can pronounce the SCHWA sound differently? Also the SCHWA sound can be found in words with different spellings! What a revelation! I'm open to learning so thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us.

Hello! Thanks a lot for the nice lesson. As a non native English speaker I have a lot of problems with pronunciation and sound perception, even more if you think I’m Italian. Please, one important question: for sure I’m wrong, but the pronunciation of the schwa sound changes a lot from word and word. For example when you teachers pronunce temperature, celebration, happiness, favourite, the final schwa sound sounds different. In temperature is more towards a, in celebration towards o, in happiness towards e and in favourite towards i. So I’m very confused on it. Please help me to work out where I’m wrong in my sound perception of the final schwa in the words I have reported. Thanks a lot in advance

Hi Guido, thank you for sharing. In each of these words, the schwa might be pronounced slightly differently with different speakers. However, I recommend practicing in the way we've taught it and not worrying too much about the small differences you might hear. Use the 'uh' sound we've taught in the lesson and you will be good!
Thank you very much! Why I learned about existing of schwa only now? It turned my life upside down..
Best of best
This is so difficult! I'm trying hard, but this is harder!
Schwa is the most common sound in English, yet most native speakers dont know they use it :)

I learned about it in 1970-71 when I was 6 years old, first grade. My teacher (Irene Thimm) taught phonetics, which I was later told was very ahead of its time for that time period. She actually used the word "schwa". I vividly remember her teaching it in a lecture. I have Mercury in Gemini. We are all about communication detail.
