The GOP has really sent America into a corrupt nation politically. Dark money is allowed anonymously which should not be. The ordinary citizen cannot afford to donate to campaigns because they are barely earning living wage and has to plan for expensive purchases. A week sick could mean they can’t pay their bills let alone medical cost.

This Supreme Court has no shame. I am legit afraid.

Senator Whitehouse is awesome as hell. But the Democratic party is chock full of brilliant, admirable people who are also excellent speakers, leaders, and team players dedicated to the cause. Just listen to the House impeachment managers, Adam Schiff and Stacey Plaskett in particular. Chuck Schumer's forte isn't so much a spellbinding orator but he's crafty and has a deep understanding of the Senate -- among the reasons his Democratic colleagues chose him to lead them.

Has been to me since Citizens United passed through SCOTUS. This entire thing is obvious if you have paid attention at all. The good Senator Whtehouse is extensively laying it out. It's about time. Everybody wants term limits for congress, , hell, that's not even a fix for this problem. It's the dark money, and all the squealing for term limits was promoted by the same entity that has a line out the door of two bit scumbags - waiting for a chance to get rich (elected) in Congress.

Because main stream media is owned by corporations, which are the corruptors. They fund the lobbyists and conservative "foundations" which funnel the money into our Senate, House and SCOTUS. We all need to firmly imbed this in our consciousness: These elites, the corporate people and pols, are sociopaths who think of us as farm animals to be herded, fleeced and milked -- even culled. Until we the people unite and let these a-holes know that WE are the real power in this country, they will continue to do so. Corporations and their lobbyists are corruptors. In a playbook as old as human societies, these oligarchs sensed our outrage and turned us against each other so we would be so busy fighting other Americans we would not realize that these corruptors are the REAL enemy, not other Americans.

Exactly!!! Its totally incredible that other senators are not speaking about this issue...a few year ago I accidentally bought a book from a used bookstore called " Packing The Court." I read the book and couldn't understand what the author was talking about at that time. I was ignorant and didn't believe that the courts could be corrupt...Here I am today listening to Senetor Sheldon explain that book in detail.....It is blowing my wig way back..and I plan to buy Sen. Sheldon's book too.

Yes! undoubtedly one of the best! I have realized that the average American couldn't tell you the difference between state legislature, house congressman or senator and which one carries more weight and influence..... I personally find it remarkable out of 100 total senators from both parties, there's only about a dozen or so that get the headlines and carry some weight on the floors of Congress.... I almost think it's designed that way in a sense to concentrate power into very few hands.... (With DARK MONEY OF COURSE).... For example: Every week on the news we see the likes of the grim reaper Mitch McConnell, Ted Cruz, Lisa murkowski, Liz Cheney and the biggest grifter of all.... JOE MANCHIN... You can participate! If you want to relay the Senator's message and feel you could do that well, then do it! Listen to Sen. Whitehouse's talks, learn the topic and the message well and _tell people about it!_ You may well be exactly the messenger needed for some people. And don't think you need a vast audience or a conspicuous place in the media. Each person you relay the message to, potentially relays it to another and another. Your reach is probably greater than you imagine and likely includes people who'd otherwise never hear what they need to hear except from you You don't need a license, a degree or any kind of credential to do this. As long as you're sincere and know what you're talking about (that is, the message) you can be very successful if your goal is to relay the message. I hope you give it a try. Good luck to you! PS -- it's _Democratic_ party! Don't let the right wingers trick you into dissing your greatest ally. And it is your ally, it's Mr. Whitehouse's party, after all!

It would require a Constitutional Amendment, though, and wouldn't even be necessary if they were put there in good faith without abusing the Constitution. So, once again, the simpler solution is to eradicate the Republican party!

Thank you Senator Whitehouse! I read Jane Mayer's "Dark Money" when it came out and found it to read like a thriller. As I was reading, I felt more and more angry and frustrated that this kind of thing is going on so blatantly in our judicial branch, the branch that's supposed to equalize the power among the three branches! So much for that! Then your Scheme series was brought to my attention by another fan of yours so I've watched the entire series and I'm watching it again. You're a steady genius, tough and smart but also a gentleman, and I'm glad you are a member of Congress.

Why don't we do the same to them? Why don't we buy billboards and expose them, make commercials and expose them? Why aren't we as aggressive and mean as they are? I'm getting everybody I know to watch these talks from Sen Whitehouse. Why doesn't Rachel write and talk about this? It is disgusting?

Senator, you need to go on a tour stop in every state with this information. Makes me want to throw up!

Senator, I watch these videos and they scare the you know what out of me. How is the hair of the congressional democrats not on fire over the issues you address? All the more reason to kill or do a cut out of the filibuster to pass S1 and the John Lewis Voting Act! Also to appoint additional SC justices so that the current republican appointees are no longer the majority. It always feels like the democrats are asleep at the wheel.

The process, however, had began about 11 years ago with Citizens United vs. FEC (2010) and this year continued with Americans for Prosperity vs. Bonta (2021)[see above , Speech No. 4]. Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Sonja Sotomayor warned the majority of 5 of the consequences of their actions, but to no avail. If you will, today the majority of justices began to remove the pediment above the edifice of the Court. By acquiescing that a State can annul the supremacy of SCOTUS' precedents as to constitutional rights & provisions, SCOTUS has handed over its authority to its overlords, The Dark Money people. Will we wake up only when we realize that the majestic front columns of the portico had been hauled away in the dark of night, or will we notice the damage when the front staircase is demolished? People keep saying to me, " they wouldn't do that", or "there are laws against the government doing that", or " we have a Constitution, you know!". I say that laws are words on the screen, and can be changed secretly or openly. And I say they have almost all been changed. Changing the law itself, or changing something so the law is moot, or simply disregarding the silly old laws, and doing whatever the rich and big business wish to be done. That's the way it really is, and contradictions abound, but just ask any paid operative of the rich and big business, like almost any politician, and see what they say you will do for them, and then just do it. Because we missed our chance to do anything a long time ago.

But why oh why didn't RBG retire when Obama could have appointed her successor? She'd been ill for a long time, did she think she was invincible? Breyer is doing the same thing now. Much as I esteem RBG and Breyer, no one is indispensable, and old blood must make way for new talents, especially when such huge importance is placed on the SC in this extremely partisan time, when the SC must be seen to be balanced.

Justice Roberts needs to be removed

Why is recusing on a case based on the person voluntarily doing it? If there's a conflict of interest, they should be told they aren't allowed preside the case. It shouldn't be the individuals choice.

When you have a political system that requires money to elevate someone to a Presidency, you are asking for trouble. In Australia, you don't need to be rich to be a politician, you just need followers.

So what's the solution? What can we do if protesting does nothing, calling our senators does nothing and petitioning does nothing. SCOTUS needs term limits.

I would add the obvious note that the Republican Chief Justice who began his career pursuing voter suppression (Roberts), succeeded a Republican Chief Justice who began his career pursuing voter suppression (Rehnquist).

Roberts is a disgrace. He, Kavanaugh and one of the other justices, Barrett I think, were active in the Bush v Gore debacle in Florida, on the Bush side needless to say, and we know how that ended.

I am watching each of Whitehouse’s The Scheme lessons. They really scare the shit of me! We have lost.

It's just so corrupt. Not a word in the press. Same with the financial Quantitative easing the last decade....just so corrupt.

So, how are we to stop this vicious cycle?

This was a sledgehammer blow that left a hole.. and it's about to leak all the bullshit behind everything.. and for some, exposing to most of the world, because some are still living under a rock, what we knew all along....giving the satisfying gratification of I told y'all so..

Expand the court ... overturn citizen united. That would be a good start to bringing power back to the people .

Here's an idea. Investigate every one of the justices every two years and if anything is found they must be forced to resign. After the initial investigation, only what's found in the next would be cause for them to be removed.
