I think what this is trying to say is, in a different universe, video game characters have consciousness, but they must see something wrong in their world in order to unlock that consciousness, and the sheer fact that a video game, on the outside, looks like a fun adventure, but on the inside, is a nightmare-fueled prison is terrifying. And, if my theory is correct, than any video game in that universe, the main character (or a side character, enemy, etc.) can see what is wrong with their world and realize there is no escape. Over time, slowly realizing that they are being put in the same loop over and over again, to play through levels, kill enemies, get more supplies, get upgrades, over and over again. The sheer thought of that makes my blood run cold.

Being a critic who is personally invested in their reviews is a terrible idea that always ends in disaster. You show up, give your thoughts, and leave. That’s the thing with 3D games like this: making a horror ROM is a lot harder, so you’ll have people who are more mature and experienced doing it thus it won’t be as cringe or cheesy.

I've always been scared of Mario 64. Something about the geometry and being alone the entire game makes me extremely nervous. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has that fear.

In reality its not a grid, so much as at a certain point your x or y will loop over, but you will have traveled so far everything has unloaded
