@@MusicFreak61594 TL;DR, LBJ and his wife Lady Bird Johnson invited Eartha to a White House function to “solve” the problem with underprivileged youth turning to delinquency or something like that when really it was just a façade for the wives of politicians to have a luncheon. She took that as an opportunity to speak out against the war in Vietnam which Johnson was escalating at the time. They didn’t like being called out to their faces, so they made it a point to disgrace her as much as they could and make it basically impossible for her to get work in the US. Then in 1974 it came out that the CIA had a dossier solely dedicated to investigating and disgracing her and a few years later President Jimmy Carter had their actions undone and IIRC he apologized to her personally for being essentially blacklisted (or as she put it herself “whitelisted”) from America.

America also labled her a terr or ist and Ertha Kitt was forced to live in france because of all the death threats. America named Malcom X and Dr. Martin Luther King terr or ist as well. Basically Ertha Kitt was the 1st person to ever say Black Llived Matter, she was saying it to the president at that time because of the way Black people were being lynched after coming home from serving in the Vietnam War. I adore Ertha Kitt so proud shes my ancestor.

She also spoke out for social causes and against the Vietnam war at great personal cost in 1968, directly to President Johnson and his First Lady. As a result and at their personal direction she was tracked and slandered by the CIA and lost all her contracts and roles. They wanted to make her invisible but they couldn't for long. She was the embodiment of the expression "They tried to bury us. They didn't know we were seeds."

If you're trying to make Ho Chi Minh sound unappealing you're doing a bad job. I've seen more people have their lives ruined/ended by landlords than the other way around, IMO it's just self defence to fight back. Like swatting a mosquito -- only difference is mosquitos need to feed to survive, landlords *choose* to be parasites.
