The Satanist Priest | Urbain Grandier
Today's video will be about the Satanist Priest Urbain Grandier. This case is especially disturbing as there is a handwritten pact with the devil which Urbain allegedly used to acquire his powers with sorcery and the black arts.

But from what I know of the catholic church and my study of the bible in my opinion the catholic church puts so much on there people that is not scripture when the true things is so simple is the belief that God sent his son who gave his life for our sins and God raised him from the dead and through Christ we now have a direct link to God it's he that forgives us not a man in a little room.

I do enjoy all these videos. It's hard to judge what really went on without having been present back then to get a sense of the individual personalities. However, I feel that regardless of what any person does wrong, to actively participate in the torture of another is a sick sin in itself.

Afternoon Ollie!!
Read "The Devils of Loudun" by Aldous Huxley (one of the greatest 20th century's intellectuals) or watch the film "The Devils", based on Huxley's work - directed by Ken Russell with Oliver Reed and Vanessa Redgrave - a true masterpiece from the time when there were still people who knew how to make films for intelligent adults, and not only flesh and bones cartoons for overgrown prepubescent old people.
You're ABSOLUTELY right about the Church being ALL POWERFUL then, and unfortunately it STILL IS, yes, ABSOLUTELY 1000percent that poor man was set up. May he REST IN PEACE 💙🖤
Absolute power corrupts absolutely. That is all I could think of while I watched this. Another great story.
I do enjoy these videos very much so.
This proves never ever piss off or get on the wrong side of a smart, power mad cardinal.
No ,Satan wasn't involved in this story only evil people , a nun who was embarrassed for coming on to him & in fear of being roasted on the stake for breaking her vow of celibasy, flipped all the blame onto him. Very interesting story, I happy am I found your channel & subscribed. I have been binging on your Viking & your Japanese Samari videos today. Really interesting episode. Seems like an awful lot of hoops to jump through to frame and for what? I'm voting for the supernatural on this one. Creepy af.
There was an amazing film called ‘The Devils ’, with Oliver Reed and Vanessa Redgrave, made based on this case.
I have had experience with the paranormal, as have many people, so I do believe that we can interact with spirits in different ways. But I think this guy was framed and untruths were told about him. This reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer is referred to as "Kavorka". They subjected him to horrific torture. Poor dude never stood a chance.

Of course we think he had a covenant with the devil. They had to write it down so neither satan nor the priest forgot their agreement. When painted it would be written in invisible writing but satan had forgotten his pen so they wrote in ink.

If you get torture for sure you'll confuse to anything.
I think he was set up and the cardinal just wanted to tear down the walls. In the film “the devils” they show his execution while the walls are being torn down
Like I said below another video of yours, sorcery/satanism as an easy way to get rid of undesirables. As for the nuns, if they were manipulated or couldn't resist their "earthly urges" and in fear of punishment blamed demons respectively Urbain, who knows? Blaming an entity, which may or may not exist, for your weakness of character is convenient after all.
Has this story been made into a movie? If it hasn’t, it should be.
It might have been a vendetta.
Some were disregarded royal family members in the convent.
"the Devils of Loudun" by Aldous Huxley, for those who'd like to dig a little deeper. this is entertaining in a salacious way, but the story is a bit more nuanced than this.

also a rare film, by the guy who did altered states and lair of the white worm.... rare because the Catholic Church actually succeeded in their attempt to suppress it, for the most part. wonderful adaptation of the book.
hell hath no fury
To answer your question: I believe the latter to be true. Also; I don’t think the nuns needed to be paid off, rather a simple hint that they could be tortured would have been enough to get most people that knew about the methods of church, to sign an actual pact with the devil himself just to escape such a inquisition style of fate. Berserk has a great depiction of the priests style of absolving sins.
Setup straight set up

A set up is what Im inclined to think 🤔.
I think he was just a womanizing priest, like any other person at that time there were a lot of people who could’ve done a lot of perverted things, especially those in the church well to this day and well people of power. The problem was that nun was so obsessed with him that yeah, she literally made these BS accusations against him, but also some say that most of it was kind of due to the fact that they were enemies of Urbain that literally saw him as an obstacle in order to have the walls removed
If had involved choir boys it would've been fine!
Nuns did it.
The history of the church and catholicism really is dark.
Set up!!
I think he was setup. Hugs from Sweden
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned....so they say
It sounds like this priest pissed some people off and they wanted him out the way really bad.
The Devils of Loudon ;>
He was a innocent man and he refused to admit to satanic worship
Yes I do
Beginning to realize daemons are quite handy for getting rid of people you don’t like.
The original Metoo...
Why are they not fearful for there immortal soul
I truly believe that Grandier was an innocent man. His only mistake was writing a document that went against Cardinal Richelieu and the church's codes on celibacy within the priesthood. He believed that a priest should be allowed to marry. He also stood against Cardinal Richelieu and his plan of demolishing the fortified walls of loudon which protected the population. When Grandier was burnt the walls were demolished. As for his dealings with the ursuline nuns I find it strange that a Priest accused of bewitching them would be there to undertake the rite of exorcism.on his supposed victims. Hence I believe it was the medieval and the early 17th century's way of getting rid of troublesome Priests in continental Europe and especially France. ie accusations of heresy, witchcraft, sorcery and pacts with the devil result in burning at the stake.
As an atheist, I don't believe in supernatural things, so I think that everything was a set up. Also, the punishment given to Grandier makes me think that he really pissed of the church/cardinal, maybe doing things that would be seen like paganism/satanist (not doing sex with the nuns, though). In fact, there is a song about this: Grandier's Funeral Pyre by Elvenking. In the song, Grandier is depicted like an hero to "the rich, the poor and the sick", so I think he was a really good priest to the people, but not good in the church's point of view.
those nuns and that cardinal are some haters
Bloodlines closed sunflower and rose
