The Santa Clause Theory: Scott Calvin Didn't Kill Santa!

Isaac analyzes Disney’s The Santa Clause trilogy to prove all some odd occurrences within this Christmas series point to Scott Calvin not killing Santa.

The Santa Clause trilogy is filled with mysteries. Why when Scott Calvin scares Santa into falling off of his roof, does Santa wave before disappearing? Why are the elves not shocked, scared or upset when the Santa they knew didn’t return to the North Pole? And how did Bernard know that the original Santa disappeared before Scott and Charlie came to the North Pole. Honestly rewatching this movie after so long was kind of shocking and lead me to so many questions, UNTIL I determined a huge revelation in the trilogy.

Plot-holes: 1. What happens to Mrs. Claus when the previous santa fell off the roof? 2. In the 2nd/3rd film there is an elf school, that means that there are elf children, how are new elves created, you know because the elves look like children already which is kind of icky if its the same as the human way 3.In the 2nd film surely mrs.claus wasn't ecstatic that her hansom fiance turns into a blobby old man as soon as they get married? i mean I know she knew he was santa and all but still

1. The elf school was for elves not elf children 2. Scott told Carol what he normally looks like before she believed he was Santa and he doesn't actually look old as santa he looks much better than he did the first time he sees her in that movie and when he ended up going on a blind date with that crazy woman. And for ur other question about elf children I have been wondering the same thing about where all these elves came from
@ayannawatts3446

Since in the third movie after using the escape clause Scott was never married to Carol we can assume the same thing happened with the former Santa and his Mrs. Claus. Maybe they didn't really love each other and were fine with separating. Or maybe they were married before he became Santa and both went back to their previous life. I doubt elves are created in the same way humans are. I think new elves are taught in the school but they aren't the children of the other elves since they have the appearance of children as well. New elves are probably created through magic. Perhaps when young children die before their times they become elves and that's why they retain that youthful look through out time.

I just think that the former Mrs Claus would have died of old age several years before Scott took the Santa coat. It would explain why the elves forgot about the Mrs Clause during almost 8 years.
@christianali5431

Mrs. clause either disappears into oblivion, or returns back home forgetting that she had ever been mrs. clause. THAT is how Bernard knew that the other Santa disappeared. This is close vanished, therefore her husband didn’t survive the night. This Mrs. clause had grown up with stories of father Christmas or her life, and Christmas was the only bright spot in your entire childhood. It’s very close minded to say that she shouldn’t stay married to him just because he turned into a A fat, bearded gentleman. Are not people more than their appearance?
Well this theory certainly makes it less creepy and maniacal when Charlie says in the first movie, “I’m going into the family business.” I always questioned whether or not Charlie would have to kill his father in order to take over the role.
@Mrdantheman510

In the Santa Clause contract, it clearly states "by accident or by design". That is whether if someone falls off a roof by accident, like Scott did with the Santa Claus at the beginning. In theory from the design part of the contract, I can assume that Scott can retire give Charlie the rightful job as Santa Claus by design. So, Charlie is pretty much lucky to have a dad to run the Santa Claus business one day. I don't know. It's really puzzling with Charlie's intentions.

OR...the last Santa just wanted to retire. The problem with your theory is that the last Santa would have erased him ever having been Santa in the first place by using the Escape Clause and by all appearances he was a good Santa. Maybe his Mrs. Clause died or something else, but I think he was ready not to be Santa anymore. Maybe he intended to die that night and pass on the mantle, but I like to believe he used the last of his magic to vacate the coat and transport himself to his retirement. That would actually be a fun 4th movie. "The Retirement Clause" for which I'm sure Disney can top me on a title.

@@TheOfficialJacksonville Because the Escape Clause is initiated by saying "I wish I had never been Santa at all." Scott and Jack then go back to the night Scott put on the suit and change history so Scott never was Santa. If that were the way they all retire there would never be a Santa in the first place. All I'm saying is it has to be a different (unfortunately not shown) clause in the Santa magic being activated for the previous Santa to retire but their time as Santa to still exist.

Now this “Accident” with Santa Clause felling off the roof makes sense!😉
Now that Season 1 of "The Santa Clauses" on Disney+ has been released, it's interesting to see how closely the writers hewed to this fan theory. I'm disappointed that "The Santa Clauses" failed to bring back the council of legendary figures (and instead used a confusing collection of previous Santas?) but at least it was made clear that the whole inciting incident of "The Santa Clause" was planned and NOT an accident. Also, I was so glad they brought back Bernard and explained why he wasn't present for The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause.

That Santa probably didn't even have a Mrs. Clause yet. Scott Calvin was Santa all the way up till Charlie was in high school before he even knew about the Mrs. Clause. The OG Santa could have ran out of time and decided to use the escape clause resulting in the legends needing to find a new Santa.

It was explored in the third movie. Basically, they all went back to what the their lives would have been like I'd they had never been Santa at all. Lucy was a spoiled brat, Neil was a whipped dad trying to buy his daughter's love because him and Laura ended up divorced because a very angry and out of control Charlie kept trying to bust them up and ultimately succeeded. Laura is working multiple low wage jobs just to make ends meet and is very bitter. Carol is still the high school principal, because Laura mentions getting several calls a week from her about Charlie's behavior. Scott is still working at the same company he was working at, but he has had several more promotions because he is putting all of his time and energy into work. He ultimately realizes he is miserable and alone. And apparently sometimes santa can change things, because frost didn't have a Mrs. Clause and he had the kids coming to him and did away with the SOS because Bernard wasn't there to stop him and that idiot Curtis was to scared to say no.
It’s funny cause I just watched this and when Scott came in the elves didn’t care the other Santa was gone it was weird

I have a related question: how is it that there are people in some films that don't believe in Santa or other figures that turn out to be completely real? All I can think of is that they hypnotize parents into thinking that they were the ones leaving presents under the tree or money under a kid's pillow; it's all I've got, but I don't know why they'd do that.

If you watch the scene were the children are looking in the store window, one of those children is an elf. She turns to leave as Scott is driving down the street.
I think that was Santa on the roof, but he was ready to move on and no longer be immortal, so, possibly with the help of father time, he choose to pass away and give the suit to Scott
Actually in the new series it was discovered that the old Santa faked its death cause he wanted Calvin to be new Santa.

OR the elves just truly hated the previous Santa and so they planned his death. when Scott arrives at the pole the elves seem quite happy to see him and not at all saddened by the fact that the old santa was gone. If the previous Santa just used the escape clause the elves still would have been sad to see him go and yet they really weren't. Also in The Santa Clause 2, the Easter Bunny said that children were 86% happier since scott became Santa so obvioulsy the previous Santa was not good at his job or well liked. while i really like your theory I personaly believe this one. Hey, maybe that’s why Charlie’s mom (I can’t remember her name) and Neil were so hurt by the old Santa not bringing them the things they really wanted. I mean Neil was THREE and he still remembers it and is still really upset about it. The old Santa must’ve been a real jerk and possibly neglected most of the kids that he was supposed to bring happiness to, instead destroying their belief in him. So much so that they don’t want their children to believe in him either and force them to grow up a little too fast.

As to the question of the video I love the theory and I think another reason why Father Time saw Scott as the perfect choice is because of the initials being such a big deal- Charlie and the red pajamas plus the packages mailman had to deliver to an SC. Of course I would notice this since the initial is also mine😊
I always thought since the other Santa fell on accident he just went back to his old life unless he was to old to live as a mortal again. As for the elves they've lived for hundreds of years and have probably seen the changing of Santa so many times that they've gotten used to it. Or the old Santa could've gotten bored of his job and gave his job to the first person who came out and yelled at him. I doubt this one but it's still something that could make sense.

Wow it all makes sense now 😱😱😱All the Santa Clause movies are my favorite. this is really good thank you
Omg this is amazing❄️🎅🏼🎄☃️❤️
That's quite an interesting theory, but it does raise a few thoughts/questions from me. Please do correct me if I'm wrong. I'm no expert of the trilogy, especially when it comes to the third film, but my family and I do watch the first two every year during the holidays (mainly the first but also the second if we have time). Here we go: The Escape Clause is used so that the current Santa can return to his past life in which he never became Santa. Someone else then puts on the suit and, thus, takes his place. This is demonstrated in the third movie when Scott accidentally uses it and Jack replaces him as Santa. They are transported back to the outside of Scott's house Christmas Eve 1994. Jack manages to slide on the suit before 1994 Scott can, and current Scott is then transported back to the present in which he never was Santa and is, instead, the CEO of the company he works for. First things first, if the previous Santa had used the Escape Clause himself, then wouldn't he have been transported back to the night he became Santa, just as Scott and Jack were? Wouldn't he have to prevent his past self from getting involved in whatever situation made him Santa in the first place (or at least prevent his past self from putting on the suit)? Sure, if the Council of Legendary Figures had been in on his plan, then perhaps a member or two could have accompanied him and provided some sort of help in this process; however, in order for him not to become Santa, there still would've had to be a Santa in the first place - the Santa that that previous Santa replaced. Secondly, after Scott uses the Escape Clause and goes back to the present in which he was never Santa, he goes to Jack Frost's North Pole. There, none of the reindeer or elves know who he is because now, according to this new timeline, they've never met him. With this in mind, if the Santa before Scott had used the Escape Clause himself, wouldn't the elves and reindeer have never met him as well? You say that they were "excited, mystified, and welcoming" to see Scott as the new Santa because they were well aware that there was going to be a new Santa, but if the Santa before Scott had used the Escape Clause, then they wouldn't know him anymore - in fact, they would never have known him in the first place. They would just see Scott as another new Santa, replacing the previous Santa, which, in this case, would technically be the Santa before the previous Santa. If there are multiple options for the Escape Clause, such as an option to just allow Santa to give up his powers and return to his normal life instead of going back in time to erase the point in which he became Santa, then I wouldn't have an issue with it. As many other people have pointed out in the comments, I assume that no one at the North Pole was shocked to see a new Santa because they were already used to new Santas coming in - after all, there have been several before Scott, as seen by the amount of snow globes in the Hall of Snow Globes. Bernard is able to figure out Scott has replaced the previous Santa because 1. he's aware that he's not the previous Santa (since he'd have no memory of the previous Santa if that one had used the Escape Clause), and 2. he's wearing the suit, and, thus, accepting the terms of the contract. Perhaps he's jovial because Scott is in denial and very unaware of what's going on when he should have read the card more closely and understood what he was getting himself into (literally) when he put on the suit. The whole process of becoming Santa is so obvious and so normal to Bernard that he thinks it's funny when a new Santa like Scott doesn't understand what he's done. I also assume the previous Santa waves goodbye because he realizes he's dying and that there's someone there to potentially take his place - either that, or he's saying goodbye to an innocent child, Charlie, who believes in him and has believed in him for most of his life. As for why he's too loud on the roof and doesn't have his bag with him when he approaches the chimney, I'm not sure - perhaps he was a forgetful, clumsy Santa? Or perhaps he didn't want to portray the role of Santa anymore but didn't want to use the Escape Clause, so he purposefully fell off the roof to his demise? I have mixed feelings on the idea of Father Time portraying himself as a mortal that finds Scott Calvin and deems him the ideal choice for the new Santa Claus. I do like the idea that they picked out Scott specifically and that they then helped him become a better person because of it. It would also explain the connection between the two characters being portrayed by Peter Boyle, but it would take time (haha) for him to suddenly become not only Scott's boss, but also the owner of the toy company. Perhaps the Council of Legendary Figures used magic to convince people he worked there at such a high position, but that still seems like a bit of a stretch to me. I'd love to hear your feedback if you have any! I'm sorry this is so long, and I'm sorry if any of this is jumbled up or hard to understand. I was originally going to only talk about the reactions of the elves and reindeer, but other ideas branched from that, so I may have rambled a bit here and there. I'd be more than happy to clarify any of my points if need be! I hope you have a wonderful week as we start off 2018!

The new Disney+ show The Clauses actually answered this theory and **spoilers** it’s correct! While I won’t get into the complete details but that old Santa falling off the roof was no accident, Scott had been chosen since he was a boy.
3:21 You're just proving why retirement in Santa Clause 4 is the real thing that happened now lol...
After watching this and watching all 3 movies i came to think that the santa claus on the roof, it is actually scott as the santa when he uses the escape clause causing him to go back in time following the events of jack frost so all the movies would be a continuous loop constantly repeating.
Great video!!! I always thought something was odd. Even for Disney, Santa dying seemed too dark. But yes I did think how strange for Santa to be loud as heck! I mean your a sneaky man, why would you make noises where people know you're on the roof. Because it's not the real Santa. It's also kinda strange "roof Santa" didn't have a face, his face was always covered someway. Does that prove that it was a plan? Or magic?? Or am I looking far into it??
That trilogy is my fiance's favorite Christmas story. I explained the theory to him and he's chill with it. A+ for you, sir!
Wow! I never noticed Peter Boyle played those two characters! Great theory.
Seriously, rethinking the way I watch these. This makes a lot of sense. I remember among the first times, I saw part 2, wondering why Father Time looked like his old boss and nobody noticing. I had forgot about it and now, it's bringing back new thoughts.
I watched this video like couple weeks ago, I thought you could be right. Now, after watching The Santa Clauses on Disney+, aside from the whole "father time chose Scott to be Santa", you were right. Scott was destined to be Santa...was chosen by the universe

I definitely will at some point!! Thanks for watching!
This explain A LOT!
I just have some questions about this theory: 1). If Original Santa on the roof was not the actual Santa how did Charlie Scott's son could see him knowing he's a child but is that the only reason? 2). If original Santa decided to uae The Escape Clause say he was Santa long before Scott was born would that explain why Scott's ex wife Laura and Neil did not receive their gifts they wanted at a young age when they stopped believing? 4). What happened to original Mrs. Clause would that have been a product of the escape clause? 5). In The Santa Clause 2 it was explained that Santa must get a wife or his magic runs out and stops becoming Santa so there is that way not just the escape clause. Anyways how did the elves Bernard included not know about the other clause the Mrs clause even if Curtis the records keeper didn't know? Some questions to counter your theory
I just saw this movie on Netflix and Freeform channel. This is one of my favorite childhood Christmas movie along with Home Alone. And I never really notice their reaction when the other Santa disappeared, until now. Hmmm, time to watch it again :)
The writers for The Santa Clauses definitely watched this.
I think each Santa turns into a elf after he disappeared explains why they weren't surprised

Scott fell off the roof in the new series Episode 1 and didn't disappear in episode 2.

or maybe each Santas soul gets put into the snow globe that they each had and that plus children and adults believing in Santa gives him the magic him the sleigh and reindeer need to deliver presents
The series actually had a decent explanation of this
Wow!that’s an interesting theory and makes the movies make a lot of sense!Love the Santa clause trilogy!
I LITERALLY just said I wish he did one for The Santa Clause!! 😄😄 Merry Christmas indeed! 😊
WOW I never thought of it like that! How long did it take to think of this?
That is such a cool theory! I didn't even notice father time was in the first movie! Mind blown 💥
For all his faults back then Scott wasn't okay with Laura and Neil wanting Charlie to stop believing in Santa despite still being a child, this tiny shred of good I'm hoping was enough for the previous Santa to decide on who could take on the responsibility of his job.
I hope they make more movies too
ISSAC!! Hi I love your vids I just wanna say I have a threory. Frozen theory. You know in the beginning when they’re singing about the frozen heart? I have an idea that the frozen heart spell thingy that Anna got happened once before!! Especially when I watched your Elsa is the Only One With Magic video. Cool right?
I like your take on the movie 🎥 I gotta watch it again to confirm that tho.
Can you do a theory on the Balto movies ?
Maybe the Santa Claus waking everyone up by walking around shows how he's losing his grip and touch with age like how Dumbledore got a huge charred arm before his death
Thank you for this theory.☺
PLEASE do a Disney prince week like prince Phillip and the prince of beauty and the beast PLEASE😁😁😁

I eventually will! That would be really fun! Thanks for watching!
That was my thought when I rewatched it
I really like this explanation, i just never made any sense :-) Px i really like reading about the theory that the elves made this plzn to kill santa, lol. Nice video isaac i really like this one :-)
i love your vidssssssssssssssssss
Wow it's crazy how close this theory came to Disney's santa clauses series with the santa theory
What happend to the previous Mrs. Clause?? Could it be possible that the previous Santa ran out of time to find a wife like Scott almost did? Or when the previous Santa used the Escape clause does the Mrs. Clause go back where she came from before meeting the previous santa??

Arile Race I always wondered about that. Like did she just disappear or...? I think the activation of the escape clause was agreed on by both Mr. and Mrs. Claus, so both went back to their previous lives.
Merry Christmas GUYS
Mr.sundays movie did a great theory where that Santa sucked so the elves just bit their time and wanted him dead, like in Santa 2 and 1 everyone talks about the moment Santa failed to get them their gifts, or failed In general to make the kids happy. So the elves let him die or a ton of Santa’s who sucked die till they got one they liked. They literally made more safety procedures for Santa after Scott then before and they loved Scott. So my theory is they let Bad Santa die because he sucked at his job and wanted him out. Possibly Father Time helped the elves but I think they planned on offing him.
Potential Spoil alert: And the new series basically confirms this theory.
Scott didn’t kill Santa, he got scared and then he slipped and fell when Scott yelled “Hey you!”. So of course it was an accident.
Are you going to do videos about The Santa Clauses series.
You seem to be forgetting something: in the series “The Santa Clauses” we see the previous Santa along with a flashback where that Santa meets Scott as a kid but sprinkles some fairy dust or something so that young Scott wouldn’t remember meeting him. It didn’t indicate whether that Santa used the escape clause but if he did then the event of him meeting young Scott would never have happened and of course Scott wouldn’t remember because in that case it never occurred
From 4 years later you need to do it with the series out now
Please do a video on treasure planet! It's one of my favorite movies!
well 5 years later and your right
I literally just watched this movie again today
