The sanctuary bell rings at 7 p.m. in remembrance of the war dead

During the First World War, the desire arose to erect a large church in honour of the Virgin Mary, making a solemn vow to put an end to the. Cardinal Ferrari was called to bless the foundation stone of the new sanctuary, which was built close to Lake Como and the main church in Lecco (Italy). The new shrine was consecrated on 5 November 1932 by Cardinal Archbishop Ildefonso Schuster, although the work had not been fully completed. A beautiful altar was dedicated to the Virgin in the second chapel on the left, with an exceptional painting from 1530.
A flat
The high bell tower was blessed and inaugurated on 4 November 1940, the anniversary of the victory in the war. The rector enclosed in the cross at the top of the 61-metre tower a relic of the True Cross of Jesus, preserved inside a precious silver casket. The large war bell was blessed on 4 November 1968, exactly fifty years after the end of the First World War. The 33-quintal bell was cast by the association of families of those who fell in the war, and paid in full to the foundry by the municipality. The note of the bell is an A-flat.
The building was constructed entirely using granite from the valleys. The Romanesque façade is preceded by a wide portico, marked by the alternation of light and dark materials as per local tradition. The single-nave interior is punctuated by several chapels, embellished by the use of polychrome marble and filled with Renaissance and Baroque paintings by excellent artists. in deliberate alternation with the rough wall. The high altar was created in 1935, recalling the Ark of the Covenant with the two cherubs on either side of the tabernacle. More than two hundred bodies of officers and soldiers from the cemeteries of the war front are preserved in the crypt.

Hallo, bin mal wieder am Start....sorry...hatte die letzten Tage viel zu tun in den Weinbergen, außerdem noch einen neuen Song veröffentlicht....Zur Glockenstory....eigentlich sehr traurig, der erste Weltkrieg in den Alpen war ja bestialisch....Aber die Glocke passt..
