And now i know the life cycle of salmon, birth on the upstream forest river, migration to the sea and going back to the place where their were born and end their life for nature.. What an inspiring video.. ❤❤

I can't wait to see Disney make a heart wrenching Salmon fish like Nemo. Their longing to return back to the same place where they were born and make it their final resting place ,the struggles they face mang predators along the way ,the struggles to jump over the high cliff,their fasting for a year,the sacrifice of their life after spawning just to feed the wildlife or contribute nutrients to the eco system that birth them is just one of the most inspiring,amazing and out of this world. I think Salmon are the most intelligent fish I've ever known. I seriously hope Disney will make a hearth warming and emotional movie of a "Salmon Journey back home" I would love to watch

Been getting recommended salmon videos. At the same time, I've developed respect and appreciation to these critters.

Southeast Alaska is so beautiful, there's no other place like it. I was lucky enough to spend time in Ketchikan when I was a child, I would love to return. Beautiful documentary, very emotional ♡

Hands down the most beautiful documentary I have ever watched. Thanks to all for their great work a contribution. I think we need more documentaries like these to educate people how important it is to sustain the natural ecological system rather that meddling with nature I salute all the people who are working in Southeast Alaska to maintain this ecosystem and ensure it stays healthy.One of the most satisfying jobs a person could ask for.

It’s amazing that 94% of the streams and rivers are intact so they are really working on the last 6% for the salmon. Amazing video I’m an Alaskan native and actually just caught three silver salmon tonight for my mom. Love seeing the love for these fish.

Yet if you watch this carefully you’ll see how much of the Tongass has been systematically stripped of its timber at the cost of the US tax payer to keep less than 100 people in paid employment via a couple of mills. While the rest of the raw timber gets shipped off to China.

We are all connected. I missed so much in my life until this truth. I cried as a child knowing the salmon, eagles and so many other things would be extinct, but I never knew why I cried. I've always wanted to go to Alaska for different reasons, but today I just want to go to Alaska to breathe, feel, see all there is to just be.

I'm a salmon fish fan from Turkey. I'd like to thank you for the excellet job you've done for salmon. I don't know nd I'm not sure but maybe, one day, I'd like to visit Alaska's National Forest ,Tongass. I watched lots of videos / documentaries about salmon but this one was really amazing. Thank you a lot.

Yes! I could taste the sockeye when he opened. I could see the history and read the story. I heard everything about the salmon, bear, eagles, ocean and river along with the people who care for them. I heard it all through my eyes. This, is amazing.

Very beautiful film! Nature. Forests. Rivers. Streams. Sea. Ocean. Salmon of the wild kind. This i love to eat! So natural. Healthy. Uncontaminated.

Fished remote streams in Sitka area for the 1st time last summer. Other than the constant fog and bone chilling humidity and lack of sunshine, it was the most beautiful area I have ever seen. Live in coastal South Carolina so quite a difference!

I cried watching this beacuse fish make me so happy xD

Incredible. Great documentary. Will have to visit Southeastern Alaska one day. Would also love to visit Lake Clark National Park, which is where tons of salmon spawn.

Grew up in Southeast Alaska, and come back in the summers to commercial fish... I teach Biology in Colorado, and often talk about the importance of sustainable fisheries to my students. This does an amazing job of demonstrating the importance. Showing it to my Zoology class today.

This narrator voice was so soothing that i fall asleep multiple times while watching this😅❤️

I had to stop and comment on this one young man as he was filled with not only emotions but the realization that most do not have and that is that we must take care of our resources for we want our future generations to not only enjoy that which we now have and runs in our veins as it is part of us for to be also part of them and theirs for generations to come for to negate this is to negate that which gives us life and a reason of a livelihood and that which without words expressed is very palpable and I felt it to the core of what he was feeling and just on that my respects to him and his wife and family all of them . ! !

You guys have done an amazing job on this film. Each shot is visually striking and beautiful. These could easily be National Geographic quality. And really nice job on showing the overall relationship these salmon have to the local Alaskan economy and wellbeing of its citizens, and how important the salmon are to the ecosystems of the largest temperate intact rainforest (a fact I did not know before this doc). The only thing I wish is that narration was recorded a bit better. She has a nice calm voice, but it seems that the recording itself is slightly muffled, or the mic isn't quite angled correctly, or the mixing is off. Other than that, huge thumbs up!

What’s stopping you? As a longtime Alaskan, only downside to Tongass area is few jobs and most are seasonal in summer, yet you get National Geographic moments daily!😉👍

If you want to learn how to prepare, store, dry, and 101 uses of salmon bones, spend some time with the Tlingit. Tip: The first thing you need to figure out is Tlingit time. They don't cram things into an organizer. Kind of like island time. Set aside a few days, let them be concerned about the clock, and they'll show you the best vacation you've ever had.

Salmon is probably my favorite meat. If it's seasoned good there's literally nothing that tastes better except maybe steelhead trout. I don't get enough fish, I miss Colorado.

This is why we need to remove dams on rivers. Removing dams on rivers helps the salmon fishery stay healthy. The rivers in California need to remove the dams on rivers.

No governments are stupid enough to build dams on migratory fish way. The problem is the fishermen.

The salmon is one of the most vital species on this planet , the life it brings is one of the greatest of all resources. The life around it depends on its cycle of existence to exist. I remember in my local rivers in and around Yosemite, how are Salmon population used to be so abundant back in the 80s and into the 90s now it is so depleted you're lucky to see 20 to 30 fish a season come back into are systems. It was so awesome to walk into our rivers and get pushed aside by migrating fish , I remember catching a 40lb fish , sadly, those days are gone . America today needs to change its practice and outcome of the future of our fisheries, but it's a up hill battle because of the lack of education and willingness to protect those fisheries due to people that feel its more important to use up the waters to feed crops, livestock along with human development and Usage of such a resource. I imagine these fish will end up losing altogether, but so will the life on this planet because of greed . They need to implement laws that can not be changed in protecting waterways , fishtrees, and regulations regardless of what politicians' governments and corporations want..

Guess why we here in Alaska have the largest intact temperate rainforest, healthiest fishery, wilderness left on earth??? We here in Alaska have managed it well, unlike most other places! Think about that! Old Alaskan residents saying, “The best stewards of Alaska, are Alaskan’s “. Chew on that fact!😳
